If you want to buy their music and wonder where to start, start with the last 3 albums: Das Elfte Gebot, Memento Mori and Fegefeuer .. and if you like their covers, they released Todsunden just before the latest album with all their covers on it.
Have you checked out Hans & Jenny's other band "The Dark Side Of the Moon" yet? They create pure magic with Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum) and Morten Lowe (Amaranthe)

Thank you so much for the advice. I will check those albums out. I did a reaction about a month ago for a song from Dark Side of the Moon. I really liked them. I need to check out more from them as well. Thank you again for sharing.

In regards to the albums, one have to remember that they started in 2004 as a medieval folk (parody) band, which basically means acoustic, mostly traditional instruments. They had no electric guitar until Hans der Aufrechte (Hans the Upright aka Hans Platz [The Dark Side Of The Moon]) joined in 2008. The songs from that era were pretty much lyric driven, with silly humor, often times ambiguos if not slippery. Over the years they left the straight parody and moved into the medieval rock category (with Hans directing them, more or less discreetly, towards medieval metal).
In 2015 the organizers of the Fairytale Festival (held by the university of Osnabrück) uninvited them to avoid protests as allegations some of their lyrics being s3x!st & mis0gyn!st had risen. The band stated incomprehension, as their material was quite obviously satirical and even considered to sue because of slander and defamation but ultimately wrote their seventh studio album instead, titled S3x Ist Muss (S3x Is A Must) which ended up being their first entering the top 10 of the German album charts and their first time in the album charts of Austria and Switzerland.
To get a feeling of the older Feuerschwanz, I'd suggest Metnotstand Im Märchenland (Mead Shortage in Fairytale Land) from 2012, because if you know the meaning of the title, you can understand the video despite the German lyrics. It's most likely the oldest song that's still on their live show set list.
Pretty much everything what they've released since Napalm Records has them signed was a banger: 2020 album Das Elfte Gebot (The Eleventh Commandment, title track highly recommended), 2021 album Memento Mori (Latin for Remember Death/ Remember Mortality, recommendation: Untot Im Drachenboot [Undead on the Dragon Boat]), 2022 cover compliation album Todsünden (Deadly Sins, recommendation: Blinding Lights [The Weeknd cover]) and 2023 album Fegefeuer (Purgatory, recommendation: Knochenkarussel [Bone Carousel]).

Wow thank you for the history on the band. It does help quite a bit. I’ll stick with the Napalm releases, but I will check out some of the earlier to see the band’s progression over the years. Thank you again!

I think Always start with the first album because thats where the journey begins You dont read a book or watch a movie just from the middle of the end.

Hi Matt, thank you for reacting to Feuerschwanz. One of my favorite bands.
I think "Memento Mori" or "Das elfte Gebot" would be good albums to start with. The older stuff is really funny, but i think you need the translation to understand^^
Fun Fact: With the Album "Todsünden" they did some great Cover of popular songs like Warriors of the World United (Manowar), Blinding Lights (The Weeknd), Dragostea din tei (O-Zone) etc.
And they have Behind the scenes videos of the newer Musicvideos with english subs ;)

The working atmosphere at Feuerschwanz is also good. This may also be because the management is in their hands. For example, the violinist Johanna is the tour manager, the red-haired dancer Myu also makes the videos. They are very independent and can make there own decisions.
When I look at the chart placements, Feuer Schwanz have continuously worked their way up. With “Das elfte Gebot” they have also established themselves in the TOP 10 in Switzerland and Austria. I would take that. The following two reached number 1 in the album charts in Germany. But I'm not a Feuerschwanz fan.
I am a Fabienne fan. She appeared in the Swiss band Eluveitie in 2017. Shortly before, the band had plunged into a deep personnel crisis and lost several members.
ELUVEITIE - Aidus (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)
    Eluveitie - Breathe [Wacken 2019]
She also has a side project where she has now released two albums:
ILLUMISHADE - ELEGY (Official Music Video)

    Now here's a nice one!
I really love how this song is fairly close to the eddic narrative (mind you it's certainly corrupted by Christian end times concepts since the most commonly known version of these myths is from the 12th century) but also has the altogether loveable Feuerschwanzian disregard for period look in favour of weirdness like Hauptmann's very late medieval harness or Hans Platz' ever present top hat.
You can these topics in "serious" from Amon Amarth (though *their" band name is also profoundly un-nordic, being the High Elven name for Mount Doom where the One Ring was forged...) or in good fun from Feuerschwanz...
As for albums, go with the last two ones for Starters.
Also check out Ben Metzner's (Singer and here he's Thor) other more folky project D'artagnan, ist's Something different and "softter", as in less Metal, but good fun and also comes with excellent videos.
    Best regards
    Raoul G. Kunz

Can't really help with the album suggestions as I'm not really a fan of this band. Hopefully, someone can give you an answer. I'm here for Fabienne :D This song is such an earworm but I love Fabi's contribution. She's such a hard-working person, she's done countless amazing collaborations, covers and she's a member of two bands on top of that. You should check out Eluveitie (one of my top 5 bands ever) or her and Elu guitarist Jonas' other band Illumishade. For Eluveitie I suggest Aidus and for Illumishade I suggest their latest single Enemy. Brilliant songs!

I recommend "I see fire (Ed Sheeran cover)" the original music video!
But you know that already! 😉 How are you doing Matt? I think, we have to give you some german lessons, to be prepared for your next visit! 👍🏻 Btw, do you have discord?

Hello my friend. I will definitely check it out. It’s funny I was just doing some planning for the trip next year. I don’t have a Discord yet. I figured Discord is for the bigger channels. I guess I need a better understanding of it. It would be fun to talk to the subscribers some day.
