      Hey, I know I’m 3 years late but they now offer experiences (in some places) where you can drive on the open road. There’s multiple options (1 hour, 2 hours, 1/2 day, full day, 3 day, etc.) and you can drive multiple cars. There isn’t an instructor teaching you how to drive and you can even have a passenger that you can swap with or just bring along for the ride. I think you’d like this a lot more if you just wanted to drive a supercar without being told how to drive.

    Big difference between a fast car and fast driver... you were in one, but don't appear to be one. XX instructors allow drivers to drive the car to the most of THEIR ability not the car's ability.. He didn't seem too confident in your ability, so he kept pace down because if you crash, he could be injured as well. I have plenty of videos of my drives with XX that prove this...

    I drove the porsche gt3 they had this year through this company and also did the ride along they strongly suggest before hand. I had no track experience before partaking in this event. The ride along helped understand the track a lot more and I would suggest it to anyone who hasnt drove the track in the configuration they have set up.
    As far as driving on the track, I knew what I wanted to do from the beginning and i didn’t want to wreck the car or get kicked out. I listened to everything my instructor was saying in the first lap and he talked the whole time, which was a big help. The second lap I was trying to take in all the turns and remember what he said as well as go a little faster. Lastly on the third lap my instructor practically said nothing and I drove the car as hard as possible, because if they kicked me out I figured I would need to finish the lap anyways. This was by far the best lap.
    If you are nervous of wrecking a $250,000 car before you get to the track you will not be any less nervous when you get there. It seemed that everyone had a blast, and I believe I will be going back in a future year.
    Hopes this helps anyone considering purchasing the experience for themself or a loved one.

    I think your review is a bit bis and does not take several key factory into account.
    Yes you can do a track day with your own car for around $200-250.00 for 4 twenty minutes session but you need to provide your own car, $2000 to Unlimited, plus the cost of tires, brakes, fluid maintenance, safety equipment etc. Your cost for your single track day is now in excess of $3000.00. Granted if you bought your own GT-500 for $123,000 and then mustard up the courage to take your new investment onto a race track with the potential to wreck it your track days cost you over $100,000.00 to drive the same car you did for $200. Rest assured Xtreme Xperience has to pay for the tires and brakes and other components to run a car for 8 hours straight, those consumable item will not last as long as they do during a single track day at 4 twenty minute sessions. So I believe stating that it was to expensive compared to a track day is a bit of a stretch when you really take step back and evaluate the total cost of a track day or doing one with the same car you paid $200 to drive.
    You mention you do not know what your doing on the track and wished to have more laps to learn but without a instructor. To my knowledge, that is what the instructor is there for. You mentioned he is teaching the driving line, which is what you need to know to get any vehicle close to its full potential. If you do not know what your doing, would it not be wise to have a instructor there? In fact I am a frequent HDPE'er and I know for a fact you are to go out with a more experience driver to help teach you. Yes more track time and laps can give you more experience and knowledge but you need to have the basics down before you do that.
    Lastly, you mention that wasn't that fast but from your video, it might not be the car. Through out the video I hear the instructor telling give it more gas multiple times.
    Now I think your argument for more laps is valid, who doesn't want more... But what are the odds after 10 laps you still wont want another 10. I am sure you can purchase additional rides/laps...
    I driven with this program and I think its complete reasonable, 9/10 customer that come here do not have actual race car experience and 2 track days a year do you give you everything you need to know about racing or handling a vehicle with nearly 800 hp.
    I think the last point is that if you could afford to buy this car you wouldn't be here in the first place or maybe you want to test drive before you buy. Let's face it a dealership is not going to allow you to do what you just did to there unsold car. So I think this serves a huge void to give anyone the opportunity to do something they cannot afford to buy and even if you can afford how many people do this to their $100,000-$300,000 car.
    My advice would be to be grateful for every opportunity in life, I think it was really cool that for less than a week of work you were afford the opportunity to drive someone else's $100,000.00 car as fast as you could, even if you didn't go as fast as you thought without someone telling slow down, don't do that to my car. Practice with your own car and get more experience before moving up in higher HP cars, as you get more experience and slowly move up to faster cars you will see the same acing line is not the same for every day.

      Honestly I did not take into consideration how much money it cost to maintain all those vehicles after driving them on the track. That makes me realize that the price may be more justified. I said (or at least I meant to say) in the video that I rather pay more and get more laps to actually learn how to drive on the track, or just get the normal 3 laps for the same price but without the instructor. All the instructor did for me was make my experience worst because I felt like was doing everything wrong. When in reality I was probably doing "ok" but since he is a pro, he is pushing for me to do everything perfect so I was always being corrected. For example if his perfect was to get 1 foot away from the left side of the track and I got 1.5 feet from the left side. He would be saying "more to the left Marcus" when in reality me getting to 1.5 is actually good for me driving on the track for the second time, other people could be 5 feet away. Hope that example makes sense. I'm not going to be able to get 1 foot away on my 2nd like ever in a gt500-second time on a track, i need to get warmed up and used to the car. Which leads me to bring up the fact, yes he was telling me "keep going Marcus" as if I was taking it easy. However they drill you with the thought of rolling on the throttle so i was taking it easy because of that, and then when I did get some confidence to go harder on the pedal , he said "easy marcus" which made me not want to go hard again. I feel like they are trained to say "go fast over and over again" so that if they rewatch the videos, no one can say that the instructor was babying you. On top of that i think the same thing with him trying to train perfection on a 3 lap lesson is coming into play again. Maybe on my 5th lap I would have gotten the timing right and accelerated where he wanted me to. Also at some points I would just wait for him to tell me what to do instead of preemptively doing what I thought would be good, just so I didn't have to worry about doing whatever wrong. When he was saying "keep going marcus" it was 1. either me waiting for him to give me the confirmation to faster, or 2. i was going faster but like I said the car was over heated or something because it did not feel fast. I never drove or been in a car faster than my g70 with 365 hp so idk how a 760 hp car feels exactly. But it didn't feel like double the speed at all. My GF drove the same car and said the same thing. Like I said i don't have a direct comparison so maybe I'm wrong. Felt like maybe...500 hp. You mentioned about not being able to take the car to its fullest potential without a instructor and I would 50% agree and 50% disagree. Instructor or no instructor , someone like me isnt going to be able to take it to its max potential their first/second time on the track. Let alone in 3 laps. I don't even think the instructor could get in that car for the first time and take that car to its full potential in 3 laps, especially if its a unfamiliar track. With that being said, I don't think anyone should be going for full potential, because its pretty much impossible and a waste of time if you have 3 laps. Like i said i would have been much happier doing 3 laps by myself with no one to worry. If someone wants full potential , then they should have a separate program for that, it could very well be worth it. I'm pretty sure i got the basics down, it was just a matter of getting used to the car i was driving and having time on the track to actually do what I learned. You can take a week long course on how to drive on a track with test and everything. You are going to suck until you have time to practice which is why I think the program could be revamped. Like i said i rather even pay more money just to get a better experience. Someone trying to teach me how to drive on the track was just a hassle since i only had 3 laps. That is just my opinion. Also it would be cheaper on their part if they didnt have all those instructors working. Now I don't know all the risk and stuff but i know that without the instructor, people are more likely to crash so i understand why they do it and everything. I know a dealership wouldnt let me test drive that car but people could make money letting people drive their supercars (If they charge high enough to offset the mileage cost and if the people never crash) so its not super crazy if they did offer it as just a test drive. What i really meant by that was I didn't care about learning how to drive on the track. I am grateful for the opportunity and I don't mean to bash Xtreme Xperience. I was just giving my opinion on my experience, which is why the video seemed bias. I think its really cool that a company offers something like this, but I believe they could maybe do something different/better. I could be wrong, I'll admit it. I appreciate your comment. Hopefully everything makes sense and I replied to everything important. If there is anything else you think I'm not realizing, let me know. Thanks for not being an asshole about it. 👍

    You make interesting points. I teach with a dozen different outfits, including this one. This is the only one I teach with that uses company cars. That may be the key issue you’re having trouble wrapping your head around. In your own car, “driving it home” is a key preservation instinct. If somebody tosses the keys to a ‘fast’ car to you and sends you out on track (with no ‘track record’ of actual experience), they’re putting a huge amount of trust in you. Braking from 110 takes double the energy of braking from 80, and it really helps to have those experienced eyes in the right seat while you develop that skill. Or else you break shit. I have students with XX that have multiple instructed track days under their belts (like 10 or more), and they demonstrate control / understand the track, and the dialog changes a little bit (stay off the paint, watch out for the quirks of this car, etc.). By the conversation you’re putting forth here, you strike me as a potential HPDE student who needs ‘negative space’, enough gaps in the verbal instruction to process what is being said with some freedom to execute on it. For a lot of us, it’s hard to listen/process/execute at the same time. If you were my HPDE student in your car, I’d be checking in with you and ‘tune’ my vocal pace until we were on the same page. With XX, when I do that ‘checking in with the student’, the primary issue is if they’re comfortable with the vehicle pace I’m pushing them to, or if I need to back off and let them chill, drive a little slower. It’s a lot to cram into fifteen minutes! Hope you continue growing / enjoying track days!

    I've done XX four different years, and I've always had a good experience. I suspect part of the issue you had was with the car you chose. The GT500 is really more for the drag strip than a road course. IMO, and every XX instructor that I've spoken with agrees, the Porsche GT3 is the best car in their fleet. If you compare the two, the Porsche weighs 3150 pounds has 325/30 -21 rear tires and about 500 hp, where the GT500 weighs 4080 pounds, has 315/30-20 rear tires, and 760 hp. The Porsche also has a rearward weight bias which helps under acceleration. I suspect the reason you weren't seeing the acceleration you expected, particularly when you were still coming out of a turn, was that the traction control was kicking in. Like your instructor said, the GT500 and the Hellcat powered cars get really tail happy if you're not very careful with them. On most of the road courses where XX runs, when you're driving such a powerful car as any of these, you'll only be at full throttle a few seconds per lap.
    XX does things in a very specific way, which they've found works well. It's predicated on getting the customer the best driving experience possible without hurting anyone or any equipment. I raced SCCA for 14 years, and have been doing XX the last few years just to get some track driving in, and also to sample the exotics that I would never have a chance to own.
    Sounds like you're ready for some more track days. If you want to DIY it, get a copy of Ross Bentley's "Ultimate Speed Secrets" and sign up for a bunch of Track Nights in America. Cheers!

I think you'd be happier finding an outfit that lets you actually rent a race car for your own use, for a track day, but with an in car instructor to help you grow your skills. XX is more like an appetizer than a main course, as you point out. Most people aren't like you and have never taken any car on any track. Street driving "enthusiastically" doesn't compare to handling your business on the track. That's more the niche of XX ... helps people at least say "I went XXX MPH on a racetrack in a Ferrari" ... seems like he pushed you to enjoy the car, but in a safe, controlled manner via all the cones. When you know the track, he will have so much more fun with your limited number of lapse than showing up to some track and not knowing it.
    I can promise you they put a detune on those cars, it’s the same thing they do for those nascar things, they limit the rpm to like 5,000 or 5,400. I’d rather just take my own car too, I bet it’s faster than how they have these tuned

    I have hundreds of hours with a simulator pedals and wheel. Bucket list is the 12 mile NurburgRing. But I live in Portland and we have Portland International Raceway (P.I.R.).a much shorter track. My experience was a 1st time on the track, 1st time in a car worth more than my Tacoma. I wanted the new Vette, but it was sold out. Purchase early, as it's always the 1st to sell out! I went for the McLaren with a ride along. Well worth the get to know the track and pay close attention to how the driver approaches corners and does braking! I still learned a lot! After ride along I was put into the Ferrari 488 (my next preferred choice) because the McLaren was broke down. A common problem apparently. These cars are expensive and do get driven kinda hard with many many amateur drivers. I was 3rd from front to start out. I listened to my instructor and used my sim experience on placement of the 488. 1st lap was a little slow as eventually I was given the go ahead to pass the Lamborghini. 2nd lap I passed an AMG. 3rd lap, I had my corners down and pushed it. They have cones by color for brakes, acceleration, and caution. Hitting a cone means a $200-$500 fine per cone as they have to take the car out of rotation and inspect for any damage. I came quite close as I was really pushing this car! Yes the instructor was comfortable with my driving habits because I LISTENED TO HIS ADVISE AND INSTRUCTIONS! .. no cones hit. 140MPH down the straightaway on this small track at lap 3!
    I will be back next year... Loved it! Well worth it. Learned so much! It cost me $300 for 3 laps and $80 for the ride along. If it's your first time do the ride along! Actually, I want to now build a car. I can't afford a Ferrari but I can probably afford a wrecked Ferrari. I need to start out with decent brakes and suspension. It will be a custom build and down force will be the next parrimeter as I build it. Basically I want more track time and I need something I can afford that handles... Moving to Texas! Can't wait to experience their many tracks.... If you like to race, Extreme Experience is a great intro. And Listen to the instructor! Stay humble.... We were born with only one mouth and 2 ears for a reason.

    I wish I would have seen this video BEFORE booking my Xtreme Xperience. I "experienced" the same as you and agree with your comments. I was not expecting a "how to" in the best way to navigate a track. I just wanted to enjoy the car on the track at a reasonably fast (yet safe) speed without traffic. All I could do, however was focus on the endless commands the instructor was giving and was not able to enjoy the car or the experience of driving it at all. Those wanting to do this BEWARE. This is how this company lets you drive their supercars. Would be much better to just rent the car and drive it on the road.

      If you’ve never been on a track, particularly in a supercar, XX couldn’t buy enough insurance to cover all the damage and possibly worse that would happen. It is just not possible to let someone “just take a car on the track” without any instruction. It’s incredibly complicated to get a car around a track correctly, and doing it incorrectly will very likely have disastrous results. This instructor did a perfect job of letting you experience the car without hurting the car or you. XX has been doing this for 10 years. They have it down to a science. The price makes sure that all the instructors, mechanics, and various other works (the are A LOT) get paid. Do you realize that they fly in professional instructors from all over the country and put everyone up in a hotel for the weekend. Then they have to haul the entire fleet of cars from one track to the next. This is NOTHING like taking your own car to the track. After all
 How much would it be if you had to pay a team to travel with you to the track? If you hired a mechanic and a coach and a personal assistant for the day (and you had to pay their airfare) how much do you think that would cost? And don’t forget you have to put them up in a hotel. Is it starting to make more sense now?? And when you take your own car to the race track you start to break things and you go through tires and brakes and brake fluid flushes an oil changes every couple weeks.
      I’ve spent upwards of $30,000 in a single year taking my car to the race track. and it’s not a supercar. Think about that for a minute the next time you complain about spending $300-$400 to drive a Ferrari on a track.

      Oh and there are plenty of videos of people driving the car much faster. But they generally are either listening very closely to the instructor or they’ve come with a decent amount of racing skills already. In this video the instructor had to repeat himself multiple times because the driver did not listen the first time. The more you do that the more the instructor is going to slow you down
 And with good reason.

    TL;DR: the Mustang is HEAVY, and ford;s shift program doesn't allow you to stay in the sweet part of the torque curve. it has to be manually shifted(against company policy to protect you and the car) If you get the opportunity to be able to afford to Drive the Fleet, may I suggest just 3 cars? in order, Ferrari 488(heavy but powerful andluxo if you take the time to examine the interior between corners. lol) , Audi R8(DO NOT touch shift paddles or it will lock into manual, and will not return to auto by itself. Ask instructor for help) or Lambo Huracan Evo(neck-snapping acceleration about halfway down the straight when you mat the throttle) , and last, the Porsche GT3(most instructors' favorite whip). by the time you get to the GT3 you will have gained enough experience to really enjoy that car, and get some major speed out of the corners. Now get out there and reserve your drives.

    I own a gt500 and you were way to choppy on the gas and obviously not used to having that much power. The instructor is looking for strong but smooth acceleration and steady hard breaking before corners. If you put it to the floor traction control kicks in. I’ve done extreme experience 2 times and after the 1st lap if you know what your doing they let you go much more than you.

    • @itscu
      @itscu  Pƙed 2 lety

      I was choppy because i was trying to drive the way HE wanted me too. If I accelerated to much for his liking he would say “easy” or “slow down”. When I would drive to slow for his liking,he would say “ give more gas Marcus” So it wasnt me being choppy and not being used to the power, it was me trying to find the “sweet spot” in my instructors head. The car actually didnt feel that fast to me to be honest so it wasnt me not being used to the power. Although it was my first time driving that particular car so I clearly had to get a idea of whats its “limits” were as far as traction. That would have been the case no matter what car i got into though. Gt500 or any other car that could spin the wheels. Believe what you want tho. The laps would have been much different if I didn’t have that guy judging me the whole time. I get that he was just doing his job and probably has dealt with people who have no idea what they are doing and rather be safe then sorry.

    • @jenetic4
      @jenetic4 Pƙed rokem

      @@itscu The GT500 is insanely fast! There is no “sweet spot” because track driving is all about changing from gas to break and being able to feel exactly when the car can’t be pushed anymore. and those dynamics are constantly changing. But it takes YEARS to get good at that. These instructors are trying to help you as much as possible in 10-15 min
and it’s a VERY difficult job. If you listen and you’re smooth go let you go faster. There were many times that you simply were not listening. And if you stomp on the gas too hard in that mustang it will fishtail or go sideways in a heartbeat. It’s easier to crash these cars than you obviously think. And those instructors are the only ones keeping it from happening. I definitely think that you should take your own car to the race track multiple times so that you can learn the types of skills that would allow you to go faster when you drive a car with extreme. I think you will absolutely get a new appreciation for how complicated race car driving is. just because other people make it look easy does not mean that it is. so many people say “I just wanna drive on the track “but they really have no idea what that means and they definitely have no business being on the track without an instructor. XX has had professional F1 and Indy car drivers come to their events and even they go out with an instructor.
