  • Throughout my years at the University of Melbourne, I had been through all kinds of up and downs.
    This is why I always had students and friends asking me for advice on how to survive the university, but during making of this video, I noticed if I listed all my advice out, it will simply make the video way too long, so here are 4 advice that I think most of the freshman will definitely benefit from. (and hardly anyone talks about it)
    Hope it helps... :)

    A bit of inaccuracy here. If you fail an elective subject, you are allowed to take another subject without repeating the subject. If you fail a core subject, you are flagged as student at risk. If you happen to fail a core subject again, you will be called to the course unsatisfactory progress committee (CUPC) where you have to attend the meeting, then they will decide whether you will be allowed to continue the course with satisfactory explanation.

    It's incredible how you must be 28 or 30 by now, and me a 22 year old can say nothing has changed a bit, and those concepts you mention are basically universal.
    I am going to Unimelb as an exchange student and the dynamics are basically the same as here in Mexico haha

    Hi
    Nice video
    How do you get your accommodation on arrival at Melbourne as an international student?

    • @TLNN
      @TLNN  Před 7 lety

      you should have contacted an agent/ private owner to rent a room/apartment/studio before your arrival...
      It's pretty much near impossible to get accommodation upon your arrival...

    • @oladayogeorge7160
      @oladayogeorge7160 Před 7 lety

      OK, so what type of accommodation is the cheapest? And what accommodation do you think is best for an international student?

  • @zam3072
    @zam3072 Před 6 lety +2

    Hey! Thanks for the video man! I am thinking of doing a bachelor of science at Unimelb and I am curious of the time you spend studying. How many hours of lectures do you have and how many hours of personal study work and tutoring do you put in each week?

    • @TLNN
      @TLNN  Před 6 lety +1

      Sorry that my videos are delayed because I had a lot going on this year, currently having to do a 4 people group assignment alone as the other 3 pretty much didn't do anything... :/
      As you can see, how much time is needed for personal study really depends on how well do you plan to get.
      It will require you to dedicate at least half of your free time to study if you wish to achieve H1 for all subjects.
      I will do weekly videos when holiday starts to address all those questions in details... for now, please consider subscribe if you are not in rush...

    I'm thinking about studying abroad at Melbourne. How do you suggest balancing study and having fun. Also, are the bathrooms coed? If so, what is the layout? Thanks!

    • @TLNN
      @TLNN  Před 6 lety +1

      What do you mean by bathrooms coed? you mean whether university bathrooms are unisex? bathrooms are not unisex, but toilets can be unisex.

    • @JackieNicole35061
      @JackieNicole35061 Před 6 lety

      I'm not sure exactly. Some universities I'm looking at say they have coed bathrooms. It doesn't give an explanation though.

    • @mythanhnguyenngoc4279

      I still wonder why we have to fight the faculty?

    • @TLNN
      @TLNN  Před 7 lety +4

      Often faculty don't do things right, and they will leave all the crap for you to deal with.
      To protect your own rights, some times, you are forced to fight them.

    • @openyoureyesb42late42
      @openyoureyesb42late42 Před 7 lety +1

      TLNN fight lmao!! Your there to learn kid... try survive the real world.. harden the fuck up 😉

    • @TLNN
      @TLNN  Před 6 lety +4

      +Kelsey Z I am currently fighting for another crap that they made up, I will make a video around new year about this.
      The faculty will generate resistance whenever possible for your issues, however, you can enforce them to follow the university policy. It just takes effort to escalate the matter, it's time consuming (and they love it) but it worth a try.

      Universities are stricter when it ranks higher, that's just how it works apparently...
