Nobody: how can make thermostats more complex?
Engineers: we know how to do it. 1970’s disconnect the top radiator hose and replace the thermostat. 2000’s disassemble the whole top of the engine. Remove the bottom of the engine shrouds. Then you can access the thermostat.

What do you gain by turning the ignition on and having the heat turned to hot if the battery is already disconnected?

Yes, turning up heater should be first step.

They missed some key info. First, book off a day from work if you're not doing this on the weekend. There's the big metal plate underneath you need to remove if you want access to the bottom shroud. Spray penetrating oil liberally on everything well in advance, just pull the battery right out for better access, and the serpentine belt needs to go. While half the engine bay has been decluttered, you might as well clean the throttle body, the MAF sensor, check your spark plugs, the power steering lines, AC lines, the plastic clips going to the heater core and the alternator because it's such a tight space and way more frustrating than Haynes makes it look

So you disconnect the battery first then mess with the heater controls which btw are digital. Explain that Haynes….

I usually go to Autozone and they will list options and pricing for each once you give them the make, model and year.

Can y'all please do one on the correct way to change the thermostat on a 2015 V6 Nissan Pathfinder

I literally can’t see which side of the engine the thermostat is on. You jump from removing fan cover, to disconnecting the hoses, without showing the location.

It’s behind the fan, facing the engine it would be between two and three o’clock. It’s easier to remove the fan.

    Hey great video!
When replacing the gasket for the thermostat, is it advisable to add high temperature gasket silicone to the basket before screwing in the thermostat?
