Battle of the Joycon Shells: eXtremeRate vs. BassTop, which is better?

Detailed comparison of the eXtremeRate and BassTop Joycon shells for the Nintendo Switch based on my experience in regards to how they look, how they feel, and how the function.
I actually purchased the BassTop shells first and the ExtremeRate shells shortly after because the came back in stock, a boy was I glad I did. I'm really happy with the way they both turned out and it honestly comes down to personal preference whether you prefer the glossy texture of the BassTops of the matte texture of the ExtremeRates.

Thank you! The basstop shells are $10 more than extremerate right now, and I thought that meant it was better. I'm so glad I watched your video. I'd much rather have a matte finish. Especially of everything else is the same.

Ive been thinking of getting the snes shell kit from extremerate but i dont know how durable the backpkate or joycons will be can you do a review if they scratch easily cuz the back of my switch has a few scratches from the dock

extremerate, offers the same ones without the matt finish ( those you have are actually the version 2 technically )

SwitchIntoTurbo I just got the atomic purple from bass top in the mail now I kinda want the extreme rate because of the frosted look lol but I want bass tops colored buttons and am currently looking at how to get all the other buttons and dpad in a light grey 😅

@@hudonedem8517 Oh man, it's an addiction for sure, but once you get them changed out for the first time, it should be pretty easy going forward. That would be a pretty sick combo though, I'd say, mix it up! Best of both worlds haha. The D-Pad one does look enticing though... Switch Lite XL lol.

EXtremeRate D-Pads suck. Basstop D-pad is incredible. In every other respect, Basstop could be considered worse. The white lines rub off immediately (I used a magic eraser to remove them right away) but honestly mine feels great and, tbh I’m just shocked everyone says eXtremeRate is better after buying both myself. For non D-pad versions of course, eXtremeRate all the way. But for D-pad? It’s not even a competition.
