      Agalloch, in my opinion all the pedals are better in single version, SpeedCobra included. If you are new to drums go for speedcobra 310.

    IMO, The 310 is not as noisy, which makes it better for the studio.

    • @majordude83
      @majordude83 Před 2 lety +4

      I noticed that too, but, I don't know if I trust the audio because the two setups are so different.
      It's clearly not the same day, and the microphone is in a totally different place (because apparently he got a lefty version of the 910?). I know they don't have the same beaters, but the pad sounds completely different (much more different than I'd expect). The metronome even sounds different.
      I would love to hear from Francis: is the difference in mechanical noise as drastic as it comes across in these videos?

      The noise of 310 and 910 are almost the same. Once you buy it doesn't have any weird noises, but after 2 years it gets some noises. I realize the new version (dyna-sync) it's much much better in that field. I've use the same camera and equalization, the 910 have 3 years of practice, the 310 it's like brand new.

    Hi Francis.. thank you for this thorough Comparison video for both pedals nearly not möush have done like this.., i also was looking for 310 series for practice purpose (i am using Mapex Reptor direct drive in years..) also my aim to upgarde it by changing the righgt one "noneangle adjustable beater" with TAMA HP94N beater (Tama 900 series) and Cobra coils underneath of both pedal boards, so i think it will be more or less 910 series :) do you think that i could achive my intention?

      Hello @ww The most important thing is your muscle memory and your ability to control. However, every detail is important.
      Soon I'll make a video about bass drum beaters, because I think they also have a lot of influence. Regarding the Cobra coil, this has some importance, but it won't make a big difference. Don't forget the bearings on the speedo ring.... that's important... :) Good luck!

    Very cool comparison. It would be great if you could do a comparison with the new dyna-sync direct drive and the 910 speed cobra also! I love my 910s, but I've never tried direct drive and it is tempting... Damn Gear Acquisition Syndrome :D

    • @jpnw6577
      @jpnw6577 Před rokem +2

      Be aware that while direct drive is seen as an improvement to most folks, it is simply different. There is no lag in the direct drive vs the chain (primarily noticed in the return part of the stroke) which will improve the feel of very high speed (say 230+ bpm) strokes...however, many people have learned to play on a chain drive and there will be a new learning curve for direct drive. I find mid tempos (150-200 bpm) to be harder to play with direct drive because the rebound of the beater drives the footboard upward to my foot causing me to actually speed up when I'm not intending to. Whereas the slack in the chain drive creates a "helpful" lag that allows me to control the speed.. One could always learn different technique to compensate, just be aware it WILL feel different. How much that matters to you is up to you.

    • @jpnw6577
      @jpnw6577 Před rokem +3

      And if you ever have doubts about how much speed can be generated with a chain drive, there are plenty of metal drummers using them....just look at Gene Hoglan as an example.
