She is a better human being than singer.. If you can imagine that.. She is the finest female vocalist I've heard in my life of 56 years..
Sohyang is a master musical arranger and fantasy novelist as well...
So Hyang is not a typical singer. from depth of her soul She wants to send message of love joy and comfort through her songs.
This is from Immortal Songs 2, it's a contest for well known singers/celebrities, not amateurs like a regular talent show. SoHyang is very well loved in South Korea. The theme of this one was English pop songs and she won it with this performance.
Everyone should have Sohyang in their life =)

Kim So Hyang has always struggled with her health during her
lifetime with those many illnesses..
Kim So Hyang vocal type is a Full Lyric Soprano. Her showcased vocal range spans
from D3 to A6 (consistent supported range from G♯3 to E6),a total of three octaves,
three notes and a semitone. According to So Hyang, the highest note she can sing is
an E♭7. This means that she has an overall range of approximately four octaves and
one semitone. However, this range hasn't been showcased to its fullest extent yet,
as the highest note she has publicly showcased is A6. Her belting range/mixed voice
extends up to a Soprano C♯ (C♯6). She is known for her emotive and powerful vocals
and meticulous control. Her vocals have been praised by various vocal coaches and
singers like Seth Riggs and Michael Bolton (and That List Grows each Day)

Very HAPPY to hear your mother is also a cancer survivor. Even when singing in Korean, So Hyang is BRILLIANT at conveying the message and meaning of the song. Therefore, it is not necessary to understand the language. Music is truly the universal language.

So Hyang's mix and headvoice is the most well developed that I've ever heard, actually Whitney Houston was her counterpart but a generation apart. She doesn't do whistles but her falsetto reaches 6th octave which blows my mind and yet because it's on the edge of turning into a whistle, this gives her the control over those notes that even the best whistle queens can't do in a 100% whistle tone. Not to say whistle is bad or good, it's something she chose to master that people with easily accessible whistle register tend to skip over or just spend less time nurturing. It's kinda confusing because those silky smooth notes replace the whistle but the transition back to her headvoice is seamless, in whistle tones the vocalists have to reset which is noticable. My preference is the 5th octave in chest, mix, head those are the notes that can trigger emotions in people. The whistles are a cherry on top if done correctly. Sadly even Mariah has more failed whistles than the unforgettable ones, those just tend to be brushed under the carpet.

So very glad you learned more about Sohyang. She is such a phenomenal singer with an incredible and magical voice, but as you can see, she is much more than that. Her life story is inspirational and she leads a life of belief and kindness. Your reaction here helps me relive my first encounter of Sohyang through this CZcams performance video. Once the initial shock and amazement wears off, I was left with the sense of gratitude of having learned about her. Each act of singing by Sohyang can feel like a spiritual triumph as we confront the challenges in life.

The song "everyone" she performed is in my opinion just as skillful but much deeper lyrically. If you react to it make sure you get the one with both the Korean and English subs otherwise it's just weird watching people react to things they don't understand. It's worth a listen.
