- Do you have a model car collection? Mike gives us an insight into his own collection, which actually amounts to a slightly scary valuation when you add them up. They are rather lovely though...

awe u didn’t have to take it out the wrap for us
I was shouting af the screen NOoooo don't do it. We could see them well enough.
maybe he wanted to do it and this is the ideal occasion
But he got the same excitement out of it as I would getting one like on Tinder.
xD
@@shiznuts That's an equally sad and funny comment. Love it.
I honestly didn’t want him to take it out.
Send him a display case somebody please...
Jeremy, James, and Richard. Pay the man more. He's driving a Mondeo for God's sake.
Thank you for the video!
You know that that is the only car all 3 of them like right?
My Lego car collection just got a lot less impressive...
knowing Lego they probably cost more
No way! Lego is awesome!
James Needham yeah some of them are pretty expensive. I’ve probably spent the equivalent of about £750 on them lol
At least you built it yourself
You really didn't have to remove the packaging off the Jags dude, you looked petrified! Really cool video👍🏻
Yes he didn't have to do that felt bad for him.
@@davewsh8434 and wouldn't that affect the value of them, if he left them wrapped would be worth more surely
ItsAJW_ yea they would
It's a crying shame to buy something and not enjoy it though. You might as well just put money into a high interest account or something. Buy something, enjoy it, if you get some back for it at a future point, bonus!
ItsAJW_ seems more like disrespecting the efforts of the craftsman to just keep it in the disgusting cello film
Your passion and anxiety are appreciated and understood. A deep dive into any of them would be a great watch- the car YOU are the most interested in would be the best video to watch. Thanks for sharing your stable with us!👍
Your hand and arm movements so close to those models made me nervous....and they're not even mine 😄
I have the same Silk Cut Jaguar but...I built it from an expensive plastic kit! My love of that model is much greater than any of my die cast models. My blood sweat and tears went into that Jag.
The xjr 9's are amazing but I prefer the mazda 787b in renown green and orange :)
Sameeeee bruh
+1 here :)
Same
@Rylee :3
Mazda was forced to leave series and have unconventional engine.
Exoto models are made in California, they're amazing, i have a Williams carbon livery fw 14b test car in my collection of about 120 1/18 scale cars, the detail is incredible.
do you think I should get an exoto Porsche 934 rsr? I am thinking of starting a collection
@@biketheperson6919 You should if you like it
I thought you were gonna say Hi guys I’m Shmee. Lol
@Tejas Kulkarni She died in Revenge of the Sith...Anakin didn't get to the Tusken Raiders' camp in time to save her. 😢
Hi guys I'm Shamee! Pfft.
Tejas Kulkarni Shmee likes to have a lot of diecast models. ‘Also he said Hi guys I’
Hello and welcome!
I cringe when I hear tht
Mate I can’t believe you opened your models! Thank you so much! That is huge. More on the Aston please!
Interesting video DriveTribe, it's always great seeing such model cars in detail. It's also great to hear a history/details about the real cars! Thanks and bring us more of these!
As an 1/43 collector, when you pulled out the hpi triple set, i got goosebumps. I’d give my left one for the Sauber-Mercedes set, but the Porsche or Jaguar sets are just as awesome.
That exoto xjr-9 is just breathtaking, btw. Also, while getting a xjr in 1/43 might be easier than 1/18, actually sourcing one with the silk cut decals took me months of patient eBay watching (thank you, seller from France!)
Currently, I’m only one TWR XJ-S etcc car away from finishing my racing jaguar collection and as much as I spend on models, the technology and stories they all represent never fail to bring joy to my life.
Thanks for keeping me entertained during lockdown in South Africa
I want to see something about the Jaguars - Silk Cut ones.
You can hear his passion as he talks about the models, really cool!
Thank you, Mike, for sharing your car collection. Exoto makes excellent scale models. I had a phone conversation with the owner of Exoto a number of years ago. He was extremely passionate about getting all of the details correct on the race liveries. If you are interested in very high quality 1:18 older classic race cars check out CMC scale models.
I had 30+ 1:18 models placed in my display cabinet and one day while I was cleaning the models the shelf supports gave way and my complete collection came tumbling down out of the cabinet in front of my eyes. Half of the models had minor damage but the resin models especially were completely destroyed. One of the worst days in recent memory so I totally understand your behavior when handling your most precious models.
I think your collection value has been significantly understated! It's worth way more than you realise, I expect
Not really, he even payed way more than some of them are worth. It's a shame, because he could have gotten better versions of them for almost the same price. The exoto is the only one that's kinda in its real value. That's what happens when you don't know where to buy nor investigate enough before doing a purchase. I'm not saying it's a bad collection, though, it only saddens me that it could be greater for less.
The Group C Peugeot is the one I know the least about consequently it gets my vote for what I would like to see you do.
Those TWR Jaguars bring back some pretty powerful memories for me. I had a pretty bad motorcycle accident a few months before le man....my friend and I decided not to go to le man, but a few days before the race, we met up and by the end of the night, had booked tickets to the race. Seeing those 3 jags cross the finish line was unbelivable
Once you got diecast you never go back, seeing your excitement tells me how deep you're into the hobby.
Love your collection. It hits all of the right marks. Thanks for opening the Jag's for us. Believe me, I felt your pain as you opened the boxes. Also loved the Victory by Design footage. Cheers!
Amazing models! Wouldnt mind a video about the Peugeot 905C!
I love your passion towards them. It’s incredible!
Thanks for sharing your model collection, Mike! Those are some beautiful collectables! As a Mustang fanatic, I have 1/18 scale models of every generation of Ford Mustang on one of my shelves.
I would want the porshe 917, and that is an amazing collection.
I need more of this! Collecting car models is megacool
I have the Exoto XJR 9. It's a fabulous model! Thanks for sharing your collection with us.
Damm a cool Collection your have, enjoyed them and congrats with them❤️
That Peugeot is stunning. What a beautiful machine.
Would also be the best choice for the video given Jeremy and James' hatred of Peugeot.
I felt your pain..
I have to be honest, I've never been and I'm not, a fan of those style of racing cars. However, you obviously are. When I was a kid I collected 1:18 Bburago Models. Must have had 40. I absolutely loved them, but my cousins got hold of a couple of them and mirrors broke, spoilers came off... Wheels... You know. I'm now 40, and still gutted. Thank you for putting yourself through that for this video thoroughly enjoyed it. Let us know when you've got your display cabinet sorted, would love to see it 👌👍
Yeah man, I had a HUGE collection of 1:18 as well, some particularly nice AutoArt and my mother threw them ALL AWAY after I went to college!!!!! 10 years later i'm STILLLLL gutted! I'll never get those back.
@@MicahPotts I've never understood this, be it baseball cards, model cars, whatever... you don't just throw away someone else's collection! I'm truly sorry for your loss, and Ray's as well.
@@MicahPotts nooooooo!!!!!!!! I'm gutted for you!
Ha Ha I understand your pain. I Had 3 HUGE cast Tonka trucks that I could basically sit on when I was 4/5. I'm now 37 and still frequently remind the Mother what a fool she was for giving them away when I grew out of them. Hindsight is a lovely thing.
I just bought these cases for my 1/18 models that have LED lights in the corners to show off the car as if it was in a show room for $30. If you want cases for your models I highly suggest getting ones with lights to show off the color of the car
I have all of those model cars that was featured in this video aswell😁. You guys make great videos, and are definetly the best automotive CZcams channel of all time😇
Lovely collection, respect the passion you have for the real enthusiast
Lovely models, very interesting. My favourite was the dark green XJR9.
Beautiful collection. I am also an obsessive model collector (mainly 1/16 tanks and 1/32 lead soldiers) and I can tell you that you must get them out on display. The joy of a collection for me is to see it all together and be able to compare items. You just need some decent glass cabinets. Enjoy your wonderful cars. Every time you walk past the cabinets you will stop and admire them. It will make you happy every day. I have 6 separate collections (models, amber, ancient silver jewellery, meteorites, prehistoric stone tools and RC vehicles) and they are all on display. My whole house is a collection. I admire them all the time. Pretty sure Buddhism is not for me...
Cool, thanks for sharing man! 👍
Great models, great video, a man after my own heart as i get nervous taking my models out of the box.
Would love to have a rare collection of models in the future! Love them all!
I have several Exoto models, they are probably in the top 5 of great models, being retired now, I can't afford them. I have the Exoto 917 Sunoco model with both the bird cage and full body models, it's valued around $4500.00 now.
Awesome collection! Very very cool. Those Jags were amazing. And I totally get why they worth more than the real car.
Great collection!! It was great to see how stressed you were :)
The Peugeot engined Mclaren was the mp4/9 though, not the mp4/10 which was the first Merc engined Mclaren. Also, Exoto is an American brand.
Thanks for sharing your collection! As a collector myself (albeit not quite as high-value lol) I found this video fascinating 😎
Peugeot 905 content would be so amazing, thanks!
It’s not embarrassing at all it’s something you love doing your knowledge is impressive you carry on as you are and to hell with the ppl that think differently everyone should have a hobby keeps you out of trouble i really enjoyed this video thanks for showing us your collection
Thanks for going the extra length to show us your models!
P. S. I'd love to see the Lola-Aston Martin on the channel, because it is such an underrated LMP1, despite having a naturally aspirated gasoline V12 when diesel was the way to go
Model cars are not my thing at all but this was so interesting and I love the care and attention. Really great to his passion for this
Love it, great collection. Started my own Jaguar Le Mans display but with slot cars so the kids can play them
Great collection Mike! My favourite of the bunch is the Aston Martin.
The removing of the wrap got my like. It's the least i can do. Thank you for the video!
I too would simply love to see content about the Peugeot 905 cause it is beautiful and you can never possibly go wrong with a V10 engine.
Stunning models there. He's a fellow bluenose too.🤣👍
Brilliant 👌🏼 Went the Autosport offices a few times and they have an amazing collection
Everyone is uploading right now, i feel like ive missed something
You guys must do more of these videos 👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
Absolutely Super collection!
*I am making a crate into a coffee table,
building a place inside for my car collection to be inside under glass.
I can't wait to see what you come up with,
the scale of your cars will make a statement piece!
Awesome video. Who collects models cars like me and many others know from where comes this passion
I love DRIVETRIBE thank you so much Mike hope you are ok and thank you for sharing amazing models very nice. I love models too I have a lot of Holden special vehicles, Brock commodores and some Toronas too. Australian cars love cars. Thank you again for sharing :)
They may not be like those, but the most realistic models, I’ve have ever seen are Pocher kits. For example, if the rims were wire spokes, you had
to build the rims w/little “wire spokes”. Real leather, real carpet. Amazing detail. Kits can run upwards of $2000.00.
Lovely collection!
More of this please!
As a fan of the Le Mans Jags from the 80's I'd love to see you make a video of those. It would be great to learn more about those machines.
Can see the lovely detail in the wastegate outlets below the exhausts of those Jaguar XJR-11's.
You seem to be missing a Lancia LC2, would love to see an episode on that.
The love that he expressed talking about these jags is singular, expendable video, but he did not needed to take the wrap out, we would have understood
I am not into model cars, but I'm sure lot of people who collect something can relate when you opened that 1:18 Jaguars,
great video
An actual collector feels you emotion when removing the packaging
awesome video!
The Aston Martin 007 LMP1 I have rarely seen any content on at all. So do more on that car please.
As a model car collector myself, I totally relate to everything you say. I would love to see more about the 905, since I kind of missed out on that era (pre-internet) of Le Mans. They did not write a lot of it in the car mags here in Sweden either...
I’m amazed you didn’t have a XJR-14. Probably the most beautiful Group C IMO.
You should definitely do a feature on the 905 out of that lot. Incredible bit of engineering.
Nice one, Mike!
I am also obsessed with model cars, i thought it would go away with age but i guess not. Glad to find out i am not alone.
I finally found a youtuber that i almost speak the same way
And goodevening! :D
Mike must be drooling when watching Martin Brundle on the F1 podcasts, with that giant XJR model of the car he drove on the bookcase behind him. That thing is massive! I wonder if it was a one-off.
Awesome collection.... I have a few CMC pre war German race cars and the MB 196 and transporter that are stored in their boxes currently as I don’t have a nice display case....Nice models are just very nice !
This video was really entertaining.
Nice! If you do display watch the lighting as they can be affected by uv. I would rotate and display for a couple of months a year so they don't get light damaged. Not normally a Porsche fan but my favourite is the 917K. 😎
Very envious of your collection. Aston Martin.
So my first bad habbit was model cars, 1/24 and 1/25 scale. The plastic ones you just put together and paint yourself. Lately I have been building 1/10 scale rc cars, monster trucks, and scale 4x4s Man this was so cool.
i really like to see someting with all of those real versions, but if i need to pick one: the Peugeot 905. really cool video, i watched in awe.
Everyone is entitled to be nerdy about their passions, whatever they are. It's what makes us interesting to some and boring to others. No matter if others love or hate your particular passions, they are yours to cherish.
I enjoy Shmee150 video but how many time is says Hi Hello etc of his videos is priceless.
I think you should have the Group C XJR-9 in prototype livery! That dark green is gorgeous!
Hi, I totally agree and felt the same, when you opened the boxes with the two Jaguar's!
So rare like a jackpot!
And absolutely marvelous models.
I too collect all race car models from the NOREV manufacturer.
Luckily my wife likes my hobby !
Greetings and best wishes for a happy collecting !
I’ve been collecting since I was a child and now have a collection that I added up other day and shocked i could buy a brand new Jaguar for that
Very much enjoyed this story....now where's my storage box again with all my model cars.... 🤔
I can't believe I'm watching and enjoying a video about model cars. Then again, I did the same for Doug Demuro's models. I'd love to get a model made of my truck once I get the dark gunmetal wheels and carbon fiber tailgate/roof spoiler on. It'd be a sweet looking model.
Please please do content on the Aston LMP1, Peugeot 905 and even a history lesson of the Jaguars that raced in Group C. Amazing models by the way. Thanks for the video.
I thought of the Peugeot just before you mentioned you'd like to drive it because of its engine 👍 you should also get a model of the #55 Mazda 787B from 1991 in 1:18 scale and then create some content with that 😉
I like model cars and have a couple of slot car models and airfix models. One of my favorite things is a model car.
Any of the Jaguars Please. Great collection and thank you for sharing a special moment
Make a series on Jags at Le Mans - from the C-type to the XJR’s
Great collection. What bugs my minds is that ONE Amalgam models is still cost more money than this entire collection.
I bought my first and only Amalgam 1/8th Ferrari F2004 F-1 model a few years back. The most accurate and detailed model I’ve ever owned. Very expensive but so worth it when you display it properly. Has turned out to be a great investment as only 30 were made.
Aww, thank you for opening the Jaguar models so we could see them.
I totally understand!
Does the display box come as standard with the Norev cars or does it have to be purchased seperately?
just brilliant!
