EA App sucks, EA should have given us the option to use their stupid EA App or the more superior Origin App, but did they do that? NOPE! They forced the EA CRAPP on everyone who did not want it.
The worst part about this app is that I can never download anything. I purchase add ons, and then I have to refund them and search for physical copies because the people who designed this thing still haven't figured out how to make the download button appear consistently, even when I follow their instructions to clear the cache. It's infuriating.

I also had to get this app purely for the Sims 4 and I hate it. It constantly signs me out either during or before gameplay, despite my internet connection being fine and having the 'keep me signed in' option selected. Steam is definitely superior.
Also good rant on the streaming services in general. It's part of why I try to still purchase games physically whenever possible, whilst we still can.
Playstation actually has two similar sounding services, Playstation Plus and Playstation Now, which I think Plus is more so for online multiplayer with exclusive sales deals and the occasional free game, whereas Now is that subscription model where you can play new games that you have to stream.
(I could be wrong though since I haven't used either in a long time, but yeah their lineup is very confusing.)
Ahhhh thats right! Yeah EA App does that to me too, and for some reason Sims 4 always crashes on the first startup but then works fine once i start it up again. so strange. Anyways- thanks for watching! Hope u enjoyed!
@@WilliamMullaney Yeah, the Sims 4 would also crash for me on the first few launches with the EA app but now it's gotten generally better. Though sometimes I still randomly get the popup in game of "you have been signed out of your EA account. One build/buy item has been removed." like I have no idea what item they're referring to (it pops up even when I play without CC), its just a thing that happens sometimes.
Also on the note of stuff not working, YT doesn't send me any notifications on replies anymore for some reason. I only get the e-mails which I don't check very often. So my apologies for the late reply.

The app is trash. Like, literal garbage. It doesn't work and it has no real purpose for existing beyond someone wanting to make life unnecessarily more complicated. If I could go back to origin I would in a heart beat.
Yeah, at least Origin worked, the EA app doesn't even work and puts you into a state of limbo where it says it's verifying a download yet this supposed verification process never ends. I remember getting Dragon Age 3 and despite leaving the game saying "verifying download" by the time I went to bed it still stated the same NINE HOURS LATER when I got up for work the next day. Started pirating EA games and have never looked back.
For me my whole ea libary erased. I tried everything they suggested on the forums. Cleared app chace, then rebooted my computer. Nothing. Reinstalled the launcher. Nothing. Like a week ago everything was fine but then in a random moment it just happend. Im so disappointed and pissed...

I miss the days when we didn't need an account for anything if we got a pc game especially sims 2 or something only thing we needed was the code on the back of the directions and that would be it now I have to look up tutorial after tutorial how to somehow get origin back and play sims 4 rather than endure more of this bs from ea..

After being forced to install the EA App, I'm no longer able to play many games including Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Titanfall 2. Nothing I do seems to get either game to work. Lots of fun. Thanks EA.

The only reason why I have the Epic Games launcher is for the free games they give out weekly. I was making a new world for the Sims 3 via the create a world tool and I couldn't even edit in game anymore thanks to the fucking broken EA app they forced us to download. The amount of times that app just did not work was ridiculous.

I love the sims, started to play with the first one. But now it is pure capitalism, what is funny because when you played the first Sims it was a little eye opening how stupid capitalism is. It's ok that they are making money, but as a customer I feel like they care more about what the shareholder wants than what the customer wants. Bugs since years not fixed but "freebies" and kits and a from the start broken launch app. The wedding pack was for me eye opening, in the live stream about gameplay it was bugged but they published it anyway with the bug's full price. I had a problem with the EA app, wrote customer service and did not get an answer for 2 days. Of course, I fixed it myself till than. Thats no way to treat customers that paid so much money. I don't buy all of them anymore, as soon as there is a viable alternative game out, I am out.
Oh it's DEFINITELY about their shareholders. EA's value has just been consistently growing despite everything that's happening- not just with the sims 4 but Fifa as well.

im currently having an "internet connection problem" /error WHEN I HAVE INTERNET trying to download swbf2. I've restarted my computer twice to download it and because windows wants to pre reserve space before a games downloaded, so I lost 90 gigs of space on my pc despite the game not being downloaded and installed Becuase the EA app wont download my game.
So I had to uninstall a game on my pc, and then manually cancel the download by downloading and uninstalling the game i wanted to download.
Its absolutely annoying when these problems persist on other launching platforms when steam has had a VASTLY better quality of life system, whereas EA seems to be the only one that doesnt care as much at all.

4:51 There are many reasons I do not now nor have I ever had a Netflix account. The subscription model is on the list. Why would I pay monthly for something I might not use for months on end and when I do want to use it they removed the item I was interested in from their subscription. I’ll pass. If I buy the item, it’s mine and if I take months or even years between when I buy and when I use it, it’s still mine. I have no use for access to EAs entire library, especially when their library is incomplete and removes games I am interested in. If they try to make me pay a subscription for a new game, I am out. If they try to make me pay a subscription for something I purchased, well, that’s a different problem and one I’ll actually have to more with than just opt out. Not sure what, but something.
I have had more headaches from this app than every other program on my PC combined (including emulators). The games have issues downloading, the app itself barely works, and I've wasted dozens of hours on it to the point that I just pirate EA games these days. I own Dragon Age Inquisition and The Sims 4 but I just play pirated versions because there is less hassle. Same for Bioware games as well, I remember getting Far Cry 3 and despite wasting 5 hours trying to figure out how to install it on a Saturday evening I just caved and pirated it and was playing it within an hour or two with no issues.
Steam is truly the only good games app because when you buy a game IT WORKS but I'm not purchasing games on other apps anymore, done with the headache.
The app is the worst piece of rubbish. I just happened to notice that the app changes settings on its own. I restrict the data collection activities of the companies wherever I can. But now I've noticed that the EA app has changed all my privacy settings so that EA is allowed to collect all data. And not only in the app, but also in my EA account. I would recommend anyone reading this to check their settings.

Since Ubisoft took away The Crew from me, EA had to be better and take away 6 NFS games, Mass Effect Trilogy, Dragons Age Inquistion, Dirt Rally, Crisis, Mirrors Edge and even Burnout Paradise Remaster. Technically they didn't take the games away, they only hid them behind their "improved" launcher.

i just bought BF V on steam and its not showing on my EA app not only that, its also not lunching and keep having this " you dont have access" error no matter what i do its not working. so frustrating
EA killed my Battlefield bad company 2 and BF3. They are useless.
I have never had an app crash more at random than the EA app. Now it says "Temporarily lost connection" but I cant even close the EA window that informs me of this because it has crashed too.
I know I''m late, but if that happens again, try closing ecerything EA App relaed in Task manager.
If you need a step by step, here it is;
1. Type task manager into the windows search bar on your desktop
2. scroll through the list of programs, find and close anything EA App related by clicking on the task and clicking 'end task'
3. If it wont let you end a task go back to step one but right click on task manager in the search bar results and click 'run as administrator'
4. If it still doesn't work, try running the EAupdate.exe I mentioned in the video, you should be able to search for it in the search bar

yeah I remember the internet was going on maintenance so I booted the game up before the internet went on maintenance and I played the sims offline yet you cant boot up the ea app offline unlike steam
There is so many launchers I have just a row on my PC of them each one that's not Steam is for one game that requires its own separate launcher to work, mind you the only reason I have the EA luancher is cause a game I bought on STEAM needed me to have not just an account with EA but also the LUANCHER. The lsit of launchers grows each day but atm we have Steam, Epic games, EA, Origin, The Minecraft Launcher, Microsoft Store, Xbox game pass or whatever its called I think it is its own thing, Playstation Plus, Bethesda launcher, GOG, Battlenet, Uplay, Rockstar and PUBG has its own too still I think and these are some of the ones I have installed at one point or another. The list of launchers was a turn off when moving from console to PC.
OMG I FORGOT I HAD THE MINECDAFT LAUNCHER AS WELL! Its in my taskbar so i completely forgot. But yeah way too many. GTA V and RDR2 I have on steam and was forced to get Rockstar Launcher
@@WilliamMullaney Bruh the EA launcher for me requires me to re login everytime I open it to play one game I own through Steam. The worst part of the whole launcher is the store it's self. It sucks to scroll through scrolling down the page feels like trying to run through waist deep water as the store fails to load the jpeg of the games with a price tag on it. You know you may think that well if I know what game I want to buy then I'll just search it, sure go ahead try and write the whole thing out and the first result will be wrong and maybe the second or third item is right. Now you have found the game you go to buy it and if you can pay to own the game it's the same price as the day game released, Was it made in 2011 too bad $20 thanks. But there's hope you see subscription deal $7 a month to play the game seems fair you check what else you get with it free access to games but for only ten hours if it's conncidered new. Hmm you think surely they would make it worth buying you see a 10% discount for members, you think some more the game you want is $20 here you would only pay an extra $4 in total for the 10% discount so you are about to give up as its more expensive, but wait theirs more an even more expensive subscription $20 a month and you get access to most game on the store seems good but the game you is $20 which would make the other points of the deal worth less to you. You're heartbroken you give up on buying the game but as a final effort to get the game you want you open Steam and start typing out the name of your game. You're happy to see it at the top of the list and not some other game you didn't want but at what cost would it be to you for this luxury of easily finding the game you want? how much will it cost you? is it now more expensive for the luxury of easily finding the ga,e? You look its $15 but there is a sale during one of steams several large sales, now its $8 to own the game full no monthly payments to play it when you want to. You're left there stunned why would a massive game company with so much money make buying games from them so bad when the tried and true steam store has shown you the ideal way to sell game. You buy it and bam its at the top of your list of games it has an way to show you it progress of downloading. It finishes downloading you start it up and play it, it's fun but would you pay $20 for a decade old game you think its good but not worth it fully. After enjoying the game you uninstall the EA launcher because why would you pay more to have a game on a separate launcher. THE END.

I have to disagree with your reasoning starting at 9:00. Market research shows that many consumers, who started using multiple streaming plattforms, mostly decided to switch back to Netflix and cancel their other subscriptions (mostly niche streaming plattforms, Disney + and Amazon Prime continue to grow as well). We have also seen this behaviour in the past when it comes to gaming plattforms. Many video game giants (like Ubisoft and EA) have started to list their games back on Steam a few years ago (I remember when you could only get Sims DLC on Origin). In my opinion, future games will more likely develop along the "Fortnite route", aka selling the (base) game for free and making a majority of their sales with in-game purchases (as we have also seen with The Sims 4, where the game is given away for free now, even a stuff pack was free recently, I think it was called Backyard Garden Stuff or sth.).
In conclusion, what I'm trying to say is that gaming will develop differently than other entertainment branches (like streaming plattforms) in the future, as seen by recent trends. I enjoyed your video nonetheless and I share your opinion on the EA App, it truely is utter garbage.

yup its shit for me like I tried changing my pfp for the sims 4 but it wont change on the website even when I change it on the EA app its still my old pfp and its weird bc I have 2 accounts now 1 being connected from my steam and the other is when I first got the sims on origin its so fkn dumb like my steam pfp is also not the pfp I have for the sims and my sims pfp dont match with any other pfp I am currently using so thats broken

Before my ea app stoped working i got a chance to do a survey on it. I gave it absolutely no mercy on how broken it is and how I own games it won't let me download. I miss the days where my offline games actually worked without an internet connection. No one on the suport will talk to me. I rarely get a chance to even get the chat thing to open. I explained hiw the few times i get people they will not help me at all. I said everyone at ea are practically shiting on the customers. My ea app has not opened since that survey. Like they are punishing me for my opinions

You are very right! I don't need Rockstar Launcher, I didn't want to have Social Club, I didn't want to have EA app! I really like Epic Games, Steam and GOG, where you buy the games there and they don't bother you! Especially GOG with their DRM-free games!
These DRM methods through lauchers for you to have to be verified are crap! Steam has been selling games for many years without needing that kind of thing! The worst thing is that I bought Need for Speed games on Steam before the EA app existed, and now I can't open my game on Steam because of EA garbage!
This is not to fight piracy, this is just pure greed! Because precisely the companies that put microtransactions/lootboxes in games are the ones that have these ridiculous apps and DRMs!

I have no idea if they’re switching for mac but for Windows PCs a while back u were forced to move over to the EA App
@@WilliamMullaney I suspect the saving grace of Mac users has been that a smaller market share for the OS made developing the EA App for Mac less of a priority. It's probably coming eventually, but when is anybody's guess.

Here because 'an error on our end caused the launch to fail' for a particular game, the only one tied to my EA account I have installed. None of the supposed 'run as admin' fixes work around it. Based on the hundreds of replies to the dozens of EA Answers threads started about this problem, I'm guessing this is the new normal for most of the library released before Origin's retirement. Time and money gone.

Gosh, I freakin hate EA. Everytime I try play or just download some game from this horrific company, I get into troubles. First of, I couldn't even download this shit app, the installer just woudn't do anything and after hours of figuring this up it just deleted the whole game I downloaded from the xbox app and starts to reinstall it all over again.
Now after years of not using this crap, I can't even log in because they don't send me a verification code to my email. I've been waiting for an hour already and nothing. There always has to be an issue.

the worst part is it's not even just sims 4 that has this issue. i've decided recently to just say fuck sims 4 for the time being because the constant game breaking updates and extreme lagg just aint worth it. so i have gone back to sims 3. and i recently got the last expansion that i was missing (Ambitions. i got them all hardcopy back in the day but never was able to find a hardcopy of ambitions) however you would think oh it will just download on it's own right RIGHT? nah in the end i had to reinstall the entire fucking game because no matter what i tried bitch wouldn't allow me to download the pack at all. like there was no option for it anywhere. even when you went to the manage thing where it should allow you to press download there was just no download button. like what the fuck EA.. i want to get some of the world packs and missing stuff packs in the future however if it's gonna be like this every time i'm really not sure if i even want to do that.. for sims 4 i am highly contemplating asking my friend how to just pirate it because the amount of money i have already put in just aint it for the brokenness you get in return.

An other way to get EA games to work is to go off line. Go to the top left of EA games press the thee lines go down to the offline button It will ask you are you sure press yes now load you game it work
$You gotta make them pay, pay, and pay$ gone the days where you buy a disc and play your game. We need more apps and blotware and more subscriptions and in-game purchases. We have to charge players for the air they breathe.

EA needs to go bankrupt. Origin was shit as well. We have game pass at $15 Canadian per month and a price increase is coming. I’ve tried PlayStation Plus as well and it’s crap. I’ve stopped paying for Game Pass, perhaps I’ll try again when call of duty is brought on board.

Look I am not a connaisseur of so many games, but there is one company who have been lauching updates, after updates, with free content and like DLC content I mean by that, for FREE, and make their one game the ultimate experience over years. Hello Games, with No Man Sky. Its ridiculous, they made DLC free basically if you own the game, and no need of subscribtion of course.

I just started pi... i mean alternatively obtaining my games made by ea since they switch apps every time we get comfortable and force us to use their garbage just to play our games. If they wanted this they shouldn't have put their games on steam. Look at ubi they are garbage too but we're still on the same app with no issues.
