4-HO-MET (Metocin): What You Need To Know

- 4-HO-MET is a tryptamine psychedelic that has been minimally researched and is primarily sold through the research chemical market. However, it does have a longer history of use than a lot of RCs, having been subjectively described by the chemist Alexander Shulgin in the 1990s and somewhat widely used since the 2000s.
It is known for producing less mentally intense, though highly visual experiences relative to psychedelics like LSD, psilocin, and 4-AcO-DMT. That is a fair general characterization of the drug, but its tendency to be recreational and clearheaded should not be overstated.
Some users experience strong mental effects at common doses and for a large portion of users it will eventually become intense if high enough doses are used. As is true for essentially all psychedelics, it deserves respect and should not be treated as a risk-free substance.
A proper set and setting remain important factors for reducing the risks and enhancing the positive aspects of the drug.

@@TheDrugClassroom I hoped you would have spoken a bit about the serotonin syndrom that can be caused by taking large doses of 4-ho-met. A friend of mine got to the hospital because he took 60mg of metocin which is not that much finally.
@@apotheoz9196 The overdose risks I discuss at the end (e.g. hyperthermia and kidney damage) are partly serotonin toxicity risks, but like with any psychedelic the risk of ST is low, so I did not opt to go into it, especially as no case reports about it exist. Most 5-HT2A agonists are expected to carry some potential for it.

When a mate and me did it for the first time we walked 14 km straight in the rain, it was absolutely crazy and awesome. We were just making shitty jokes and laughing our ass of about them, being completely overwhelmed in a fun way and eating tomatoes

@@noworries7673 Don't take this as a trip report. This is only a small summarization of a large portion of that trip. In this same trip I also experienced memories coming alive depending of where I would go, what street I would go in. Overall, this specific experience was just for having fun and trying out the substance for the very first time. I do take on deeper experiences with different intentions, but as I said, what I've learned from some of those and "shallower" experiences is that it's absolutely fine to take it easy every now and then too. Just to have fun with it is alright. And may I ask, how do YOU take part in the psychedelic experience?

I've had 4-ho-met a few times, most times the doses were rather small, and the trips were nothing special. Overall pleasant enough. Once though, we took a bit more by mistake (hard to dose small quantities of powder). I don't remember how many milligrams we tried to take or how much we actually ended up taking roughly but I think we wanted to take like 50ish mg and ended up taking more like 80-90mg. This might be inaccurate but its probably in the ballpark.
This time, the come up was different. We had taken the powder orally with water and then we started playing some guitar hero to pass the time, however, almost immediately (like 2-3 songs in) we started feeling uneasy. We were three people that had taken it and we were all feeling weird. The best I can describe it is "impending doom" or that something major is going to hit soon, and hard. We quickly turned off the video game, put on some music and went to lay on the bed. A few more minutes of unease and then we all start having pretty incredible visual hallucinations. I was tripping so hard even with my eyes closed I was seeing red, fleshy cityscapes behind my eyelids. Music was helping us with our unease, and pretty soon we were all in a much better mental state, enjoying ourselves. The main part of the trip we just stayed in the bed, chilling, listening to the music and from that point on, the trip was intense but overall pretty chill.
What I remember most though is the early unease and how it dissolved very quickly once we started to relax into it. Like the video says, very visually intense, probably the most intense visual hallucinations I've ever had, and even with the disquiet we felt at the start it was still child's play compared to the onset other substances like DPT, bromo-dragonfly or LSA.
To me 4-ho-met felt very close to LSD, but perhaps more colourful and less stressful overall.

I adore this one! I think the introspection from other psychs is the most special part of tripping, but I love losing myself to the visuals/empathy/euphoria of this while not having the reflection creep up on me. @@huwthomas9954 Nah not at all. It's decent and worth trying but pretty lacking in many ways and has some pretty gross effects like strong body aches and muscle spasms and makes your brain feel like its tied in a knot after the peak.
Also the visuals are more of a weird blur than the standard HD geometric type visuals
Edit: awesome audio effects though. Also, mixing it with phenibut is pretty amazing. They synergize into a new more recreational drug

Had my very first bad trip on 4-HO-MET, and it was truly the most terrifying moment of my life. I took 20mg on the onset, everything was great, but stupid me decided to redose only a few hours later with another 30-40mg. Visuals were so intense that I could no longer read because text started to wave and dance around like jelly with words jumbled into each other. Every color I saw started to put on a disco show. Every sound started to excessively echo. People's faces started morphing from young to very old in mere seconds. For about an hour, I felt like my brain was over flood with nonstop thoughts. Nonstop thoughts about my life, my friends, my family, my actions, almost all of them negative. Once the thoughts start, they begin to just get deeper and deeper, until I start questioning my existence entirely. I started to freak out and got so anxious that I might have a panic attack and alert my parents. I didn't want them to know I took an illegal drug and be sent to the hospital. Every second was agonizing. Closing my eyes I saw awful imagery, but sometimes beautiful ones too. I'd rather be dead then feel like this. I felt like I broke my brain and will never be the same again.
Then after about an hour of this madness, a light bulb clicked. I had a funny thought in my head, and immediately started giggling. I was back to 4-HO-MET heaven! Then the rest of the night was fantastic and I was laughing and enjoying everything I saw or read. But man, 4-HO-MET is definitely not an entirely carefree drug. People who say it's light on the mind and headspace are nuts. It's analog of psilocin after all. From now on, I will just stick to under 20mg and probably not ever redose.

For my cluster headaches personally, I've found tryptamines don't last very long for relief. They'll buy between 6 days and 5 weeks, compared to a lysergamide trip that'll buy me 2-4 months of relief from the headaches, depending on which one and dose. The best relief I had was a bit over 3 years from ibogaine, but that's a bit riskier and wasn't exactly an easy time.
Same I've been using mushies and LSD, only thing that has given me any sort of relief. I accidentally discovered that mushies help, then this round I found cluster busters, shit saved my life fo sho.

I had really intensive 2 times 3 months a year cluster headache periods before i started this once a week LSD trip rituals with consent of my psychiatrist. Also for ptsd. Have been cluster headache free ever since. And really i got them even during the day time. Sometimes i thought someone had been sticking a pin into a voodoo doll. found it a really creepy most painful disease. Wish you well

Had a horrible bad trip experience, most likely bc I didnt feel 100% comfortable with the people and also had no idea what i was getting myself into. 2 people I barely knew & my cousin, and in their apartment, watching Speed Racer listening to music, just felt out of place.
Had no idea how psychadelics would feel, we first bombed it (swallowed wrapped in paper) and after 1h nothing happened so the extremely experienced dude suggested we snorted a line each too. Again, I had never tested psychadelics before.
Stuff started moving, lamps started dancing, I saw audio coming out of the speakers, text danced around, the movie came out of the tv and painted the room. Was fkn awesome.
And then someone said "oh no, where is it" and from that point I just had a bad trip throughout the last 4-5h or so.
First sign was when all the color just melted away and everything turned black and white and I got so fixated and upset that this dude couldnt find whatever he was looking for. And the outside world seemed to close in to the point that I got so frustrated not knowing what existed outside the walls of the room. And then I tried to ask "what do people do in a normal day??" but I couldnt speak anymore, and then I couldnt think anymore, and then I got tossed in a infinite time loop with sound so loud I couldnt believe it, and colors wooshing around, and no faces to be recognized at all. Just reliving the same 5-6 seconds for infinity.
Then came back down, started nervously laughing, looking at all the faces transforming every second, horrific. and then back into the same time loop for another infinity.
this was so traumatizing that I never rly recovered fully from it. For months it felt like I would lose my mind and go back into this time loop. I couldnt look ppl in their eyes, or at photos, or even long distances (like horizon) without having this feeling, or listen to music at all. Couldnt sleep or close my eyes for longer than 2 seconds.
Had to have some comfy youtube vid on and keep watching it with 1 eye opened until I passed out, every night.
I dont think my mind was rdy for psychadelics ^^

Phenibut + 4-HO-MET. Holy crap, the best experience of my life. I went from crazy, uncontrollable laughing fits to being completely immersed in visual abstract euphoria. Plus, it literally has no body load and clear headspace. Shamefully, I can probably only do this combo once a month.

@@boaz5898 Well, you can try The Indole Shop, but you have to use a bank transfer using Zelle. I've bought from them many times and never had issues.
Sternkrieger I’ve had a package lost through customs from Indole Shop but also had success before then. Had another no-show after that and gave up
@@holyshit1916 True, I just recently had some 1P-LSD never show up from them, which was disappointing as it was going to be my first LSD experience. Plus, they don't offer any insurance and reship for lost packages. But it was also probably not a good idea anyway to order anything overseas during a pandemic. I might give them another shot when the pandemic is over, but if it's a no show again I'll probably be done with them. Let me know if you find any other reliable sources.
Sternkrieger well I’m not ordering overseas, I’m just in the US. But I’ve tried two Canadian vendors and both didn’t show, save for the first time at one. There was a huge bust at Canadian customs last summer. They seized tons of LSD. Was in the news. I honestly might look toward darker methods

If it isn’t obvious, that other guy is a scam, but I just want to tell you that this one is around and is still the only RC I’ve actually purchased myself. It’s def a bit harder than just hitting up your usual plug or going to a dispo, but if you put in the time, you can find some sources. Just be aware, there are a shit ton of scams, look at places that ship from Canada rather than from the US directly if you’re US based like me.

Tianeptine is very addictive and your tolerance grows extremely fast, after two days I had to triple my dose to get the same affect. I would recommend only doing it once or twice and then leaving it alone if you feel you really have to take it.

I find that on psychedelics not only my mind is more acutely aware, but my mind also become aware of every part of my body inside and out.. it’s like realizing oh shit I’m a human and I’m actually fuckin alive, and when you don’t work out or take care of yourself sometimes during the trip that can cause uncomfortableness.. food also plays a huge role, eat like shit = feel like shit..

I think I had this a few times in my 20's. They came in press pill form, looked like a roll pill but just a little smaller. It had a mushroom on it. We just called them silly pills. They made you feel pretty silly.

@@williamneuzil7403 yeah I was addicted to GBL and kratom so didn't really have a choice unless I wanted to trip in withdrawal. GBL goes nice with pretty much anything except downers
@@williamneuzil7403 1-2ml every couple of hours, waking in the night even to redose. You really need to be dosing 24/7 to get physical withdrawals because of the short half life. But dose frequency creeps up and before you know it you need it to stay asleep. The symptoms began with anxiety and confusion, then low mood, zero energy, freezing extremities, insomnia. After a period of 24/7 use, you get no positive effects even after long tolerance breaks, so it's pointless to continue. The withdrawal is pretty short but it takes some planning and a bit of bravery to get through it. The confusion was very scary, I couldn't make sense of anything and couldn't remember who my family were or anything.

@@BigBodyBiggolo I think it's GABA that is the naturally occuring one and GHB/GBL work on the GABA receptors. I still crave it every now and then as with all drugs but less and less as time passes

I mixed 300ug 1p-LSD and 50mg 4-HO-MET, the come up was terribly uncomfortable, I felt like I overdosed caffeine yet felt the calming effects of the psychedelia which made me slightly anxious, then maybe 40 minutes I my heart was pounding, my limbs felt very strange and I puked a few times. The visuals were very intense but also interesting, but it wasn't until after my peak that I was able to truly enjoy myself. I sincerely felt as though I poisoned myself and the only thing I could do that actually made me feel good during my peak was cry, but while crying I was in a very introspective mind space and went very deep inside myself. Crazy shit.

@Lmao66 yea I just ate it the same as you would mushrooms. It worked well but the taste isn’t great. I’ve heard you can mix it with water and drink it so you don’t get as bad of a taste

This is the only psychedelic where I saw absolutely terrifying hallucinatory stuff going on, it was insane but I wasn't at all scared. Fully aware i was just tripping, but so vivid. Crazy old witches and shit 😂
The best 4 substituted tryptamine IMO. I love the short duration and shallow trip as a chronic migraine and cluster headache sufferer. A profound trip becomes tiring when needing to macro dose every 5 days. Its unfortunate no one ships to the US anymore.

This is one of my favorites tbh. It's a good one for those who tend to lose the headtrip game on LSD. This one's definitely easier to handle.
Playing music on this one is much easier than on LSD. There's less of a melting feeling which is kinda nice.
The visuals are similar to DMT than mushrooms... I definitely see faces and creatures in objects... I saw jaguars and toads on moss-covered rocks :D
Yessss ! Ive seen the same thing. Also LSD makes me way too emotional or i lose sight of things. But on this im so much clearer. Do you know where to get this though by chance at all???? I always (actually) urinate a lot on this, and generally have a headache the next day, no matter how much water I drink during the trip. Outside of that it's great, especially when mixed with LSD.

DiPT is weird, i did a small dose once and never felt and mental shift or anything physical so i didnt think it worked until i spoke out loud and heard other people speaking, my own voice and everyone elses sounded deep and demonic it was like i changed the sound settings in my brain. It was pretty interesting but i dont think i can recommend it since it gave me pretty bad tinitus despite being a low dose.

TIP: You can extend the 4-6 hours or so duration of 4-HO-MET by redosing twice as much as your original dose during the come down. The effects are slightly diluted, but it has always extended most of the effects for another 4-6 hours for me.

In the beginning a line after some drinks will have you blissed for almost an hour but 8-12 hours into the binge a double line is half as good for max 5 minutes... Redosing doesn't work with all substances and stacking does neither.

Took around 30mg few years ago ... The come up was very fast and it went from 0 to 100 within 30 minutes of taking it.
Really wouldn't claim it to be an easier to handle substance compared to psilocybin.

Still hear voices , paranoia, I’ve been experience sleep paralysis after the hospital.

Another informative video, thanks Seth. This sounds like a decent psychedelic, pretty mediocre. It does seem like a good hallucinogen to start with...for first time psychonauts I would encourage u to acquire some Ativan (Lorazepam) 4-1mg tablets. If you or a friend start having a "bad-trip" put 1-1mg tablet u underneath the tongue, it will dissolve and enter the blood thru vessels under the tongue. After 20-30mins if the person still feels uncomfortable, take another Ativan and listen to soft classical music like Mozart or Beethoven. This worked for a friend of mine when we had an LSD party, he started freaking out and couldn't handle what was going on...it took 4mgs and almost 2 hrs but it worked! Safe tripping y'all, and make sure u know what u r taking...✌🏼🤘🕉

in my experience 4-ho-met produces stomach gas when it starts to wears off, otherwise a very fun psychedelic with a gross af taste (especialy insufflated)
