African Americans are returning to countries like Ghana more than 400 years after their ancestors left Africa as slaves. Many say they want either to reconnect to history, or resettle on the continent.
Helen and Timothy are retirees who had lived all their lives in the USA. Timothy was in the military while he worked and Helen was in the field of Social Sciences. They recently made the big decision to move to Ghana. In this video, they share the amazing experiences they have had since moving here.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
As a Jamaican/American None of my family members ever owned land before, but the first time I arrived in Ghana 2017 for the first time in the motherland, I was so happy also cried like a baby at the airport. I couldn't believe I'm in Africa. I did not sleep the whole night hanging in the window at muvinpik hotel making video calls talking to family friends, they were blow away. I stayed in Ghana 3 weeks, and I don't want to go back to the States, I went back to the states and r quickly came back to Ghana 2months later. I purchased 2 acres of land building apartments for rent in winneba. I also recently purchased another land in Aburi building mansion to spend the rest of my life. I met a beautiful lady in Ghana, her mother is a Ghanaian, dad from Dominican Republic in Cape Coast, also living here in the states. We got married after dating for 2years. We have one girl. Our dream to move to Ghana 2025 after finishing the properties in Ghana. Thank you so much for sharing
Such an amazing story. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾❤️
This was nice to read, Ghana welcomes you. I hope to move back one day too.
Beautiful story
Great
Amazing story. Wish you love and happiness in Africa
This video has me in tears...I want to come to the continent so badly..but I'm in my late 60's and I don't want to come alone. I don't have a spouse. I'm so tired of this hateful place America!😢
Why not reach out to that couple if possible and disporian organizations or see Ghanaians living in America maybe you can arrange to travel with someone or visit a Ghanaians church to get partner to travel with. Building bridges before visiting or moving matters.Good luck
This interview was just posted at the right time! We just had a racial motivated shooting in Jacksonville FL where 3 black people got killed. There is definitely no place like home. I encourage all diasporans to explore Ghana and other African countries as other options .
If you have made up you mind to move to Ghana to live at Anaji. I have an apartment for rent
@@estheracheampomg592 How many bedrooms and how much and plz no quote in dollars Lol
@@lukesky4690Apartments are going for 200 ghana cedis a month.
It's disheartening to hear about people who have so much hate. That guy was trying to enter EWU my school
USA is on a different level when it comes to skin colour.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ALL WHAT LIFE IS ABOUT. PEACE. NO WORRIES ABOUT COPS, RACISM AND FEAR FOR YOUR LIFE. AND YOU ARE TAKEN CARE OF AS AN ELDERLY. I AM HAPPY THEY KNOW DALE AND DACIA. ALL THE BEST JAMIN.
Please make sure you get LAND TITILES for your lands. That's the registration of your land with the government. The site plan is not enough. There's been some instances where 3 separate people had 3 separate site plans for the same land. It is not uncommon for some families to sell the same land multiple times.
Great interview!!!
🥰I visited Ghana in June. I was sold. The people there are wonderful and so kind. I truly enjoyed myself. The spiritual connection to the land was like nothing else. I want to move there. How would I connect with the other African Americans there?😍
The internet is ur best bet when trying to connect. I share many stories here and contact details of people 🥰
@KymburleeD Try connecting with Jay Cameron, Aleta Israel
I got next
I just donated to this lovely couple’s donation campaign. ✅ Wishing you all the best.
What a beautiful, decent, all-embracing couple. Pray you settle pretty well. Most important issue is a means of income, a home with no landlord threatening you with eviction because they want to increase the rent & of course, a decent motor to run around.
Our folks are quite helpful & respectful. Hey! You're going to have so many children though!!😂 I'm Mama & my hubby is Dad to everyone!! Just be mindful of opportunists. Good luck 🤞🏾🙏🏾😇
Brother Tim you're in the right placce...nature....you have herbs, take advantage of the beach, the clean air, the rain, the sun, just keep going you will experience total healing brother
If you want better air don’t live in Accra.
Welcome ro the motherland 🇬🇭🇬🇭. Your are deeply loved.
This is one of my favorite videos ever ❤
🙏🏾💕
I'm so happy for both of you i can't wait to retire, JaH is willing i pray i will move to Africa too
Incredible couple. I'm so proud of them for making the move despite Tim's health challenges and the interview was top notch
Nice we came December 6th 2022, did not visit first ... we moved straight to Ho.. we brought our land while in the States after Maya Showed the land.. Ishmeal Lamptey assisted us in the process. We love it here in Ho.
Nice video Jasmine.
Wow!!! that is amazing? So far how is like to live in Ho ?
Miss Jasmine you don become Ghana's Oprah oo!! You have become a really good interviewer . As always I loved this interview , you asked all the questions we wanted to know and enabled this couple's personality and enthusiasm to really shine through!!
Thanks Joseph, Appreciate you xx
Very industrious couple. In Ghana a steady stream of income if you own your own property is all you need.
They are such a sweet couple. #rooting4everyoneblack ❤❤❤
Beautiful Couple! My husband and I also purchased land in Suhum. Prayerfully we will meet you both!
Glad this gracios lady addressed you as Ms. Was disappointed to hear you introduce them casually by their first without the respect that we give elders ...mama or papa or at least uncle and aunt. You know that! Even if you were born or raised overseas you couldn't have been on a first name basis if they're born in Africa. You are one of my favorite African youtubers and a very respectful young woman. That said, wow! The interview was great. The elders look so elegant with aunt looking all regal. I see uncles tshirt - are they hebrew Israelites? Welcome home.
I think so. Nice to see.
Jasmine always ask the right questions that I would ask regarding everyone transitioning from the US to Africa. Thank you Jasmine❤
Anytime 🥰
So inspiring.... The leap of faith is soooooo refreshing.... Many many Blessings to the beautiful couple...
*humble Diasporas like you may not have big problem in Ghana*
This was really relatable because I'm also retired and just so done with the America
Aww i hope u able to at least visit 🙏🏾❤️
pls. if you want to live in Western Region in Ghana, I have an apartment for rent
So glad that moving to Africa made you guys feel better socially and physically. May God continue to bless you 👍🙏❤️..
Those are my friends and I love them so much!! I am happy that they are well!! That is all that matters!
Pray for me, that one day will come for me too
This is a great interview showcasing what Ghana /Africa has to offer. Imagine even the health benefits. It's all about planning and making the move like Tim and Helen. Thanks Jasmine ❤❤❤
My goodness....such a lovely couple! Living my dream...

Great Interview! You are one of the best interviewers and content creators. I am a mature African American woman who find your videos very intelligent entertaining, educational and informative. Keep up the good work and continued success to the couple you interviewed. By the way I was able to visit Ghana, a trip that was on my bucket list in December 2022 for 8 days. Loved it am still on a high from the trip and thank God for the opportunity. I will be sharing this interview.
Appreciate you Veronica xx

TRUTH TRUTH TRUTH TRUTH WOW HALLELUJAH HALLELUJAH
Life expectancy in Ghana is 64.11 years and foreigners can lease land for fifty years, But if you all are happy with that, enjoy
If u are not coming here as a baby you may not be too worried about the renewal. Also the renewal fee can be agreed on at the time of purchase of land so u know what to expect 🥰
That was such a great presentation. May the Lord bless you all as you begin to settle in Ghana. Amen
Love their positive mindset
Peace of mind is important.
Please recommend kantanka vehicles to them they can design anything else
Welcome home my friends
Good luck in Ghana ❤❤

hi Jasmine love ur video as usual Ashley Australia
Thanks Ashley xx
healed you, how I felt when I went to South Africa, I saw my people and knew they were the same, except the Zulus who I was told were Canaanites, I could identify with the others, if it was not for the language I swear I was back in jamaica, with the maroons, it felt has I had always known these people. i just connected
Because of the location, his diet is different. The quality of protein, chicken and beef, will be better. Thus less inflammation in his body. The availability of other manufactured foods they may have eaten in the states is not there. Those foods would also give inflammation to his body.
Any microwaveable food for a person with ailments would drive inflammation. The american food producta have lots of salt, sugar and fats for great flavor, but it promotes sickness and inflammation.
Then add the preservatives and fillers....makes for poor health.
Jasmine, you are so pretty. receive love from Kenya

Jasmine, you make me want to move to Ghana so bad. I have been in the American rat race for 45 years and I know Africa is calling me.
Aw u should at least visit and see how u like it 🥰
It's a process bro...I'm 43 myself and watching just like you are. Readying myself and family to make this move. We live in the DC/BMore area and it's steadily getting more expensive!!
@@L.I.2RVAAs a Washingtonian myself. I, second that to the fullest extent! Not only is it getting too expensive and overcrowded. This entire area is becoming more and more violent in a very sadistic way.😢😢😢😢
@@ReillookFellow Washingtonian here 🙋🏾♀️ and j just got back from spending 6 weeks in Ghana. It’s terrible to have to come back to so much sh!t.
@@dcbelle01 Hello! 👋🤗 I can't wait. I am going to Ghana at the end of this year for two and a half weeks.🙏🏿🙌🏿 I can only imagine how you truly feel. This city has a dead aura feel to it. I can't wait to be officially in our mother land living permanently.
