Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. It encompasses savannah, lakelands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley and mountain highlands. It's also home to wildlife like lions, elephants and rhinos. African Americans are returning to countries like Ghana and Kenya more than 400 years after their ancestors left Africa as slaves. Many say they want either to reconnect to history, or resettle on the continent. Some move for a slower paced lifestlye and even safety.
In this video, we get to interview an African American man who made the move from the America to Kenya about a year ago. He relocated with his wife and two children.
Let’s find out why he prefers Kenya to America.

My name is Jasmine and I have relocated from Sydney Australia to Ghana in west Africa as of the year 2020.
My parents are of Ghanaian descent and so am I although I was born in Australia. Here on my channel, my goal is to give you a real glimpse into what it’s like to live in Ghana and other parts of Africa, from the food, to the culture, to the lifestyle and everything in between. My goal is to satisfy your curiosity about Ghana and other African countries.
My prayer is that these videos do just that for several African’s in the diaspora.
Follow your bliss because life is short, follow your bliss because human life has no intrinsic value, follow your bliss because everything happens for the greater good and follow your bliss because it has all happened before.
When he said 'I don't feel black anymore' it was so great to hear. You don't have to feel black in Kenya. You feel human. You are no longer that black man, but one of us. Karibu sana.
That is a very powerful statement and the thing that stuck w me the most. I have always felt "black", every step of my life...
I'm kenyan too, currently in Australia and seeing this, I feel nostalgia of back home.
As Kenyans we are happy to have expats moving to our country! We welcome you all! Karibuni!
Yes, you are a very beautiful Kenyan Lady I might add. ❤️

How much would Coast to move to Kenya as single male with no kids
The White Americans that ever told Black Americans to "go back to Africa" fu**d around and found out". This is so wholesome 💯
Kenya is beautiful ❤️❤️🇯🇲 Kenya would also be my first choice too

Brother thanks for speaking up for African-American, the 30% who can get on a plane, go to Africa, and feel right at home. Instead of complaining about everything
that they don't have, and what Africans should do to improve themselves. This is a brother who loves is family, himself, and Africa. What else could you ask for,,,
Kudos to you and your family sir.
Amina
Mfalme Musa is so wonderful to hear him speak on life in Kenya. I am moving to kenya in a few months. I can't wait. ❤❤❤
Hope ur move goes smoothly 🙏🏾❤️
Mfalme means King in Swahili language
In kiswahili, Mfalme means king and Musa means Moses
Karibu Kenya 🇰🇪
Welcome
For all black people around the world especially AA personally being Kenyan i watch what's going on around the world outside Africa and i can tell the you the racial slur"go back to Africa"should stop making you feel insulted .Just do your homework and you'll gladly come back home and as for the parents here we actually prefer when our children are playing and making friends outside, there's no worry some racist people will harm them in anyway or they'll mix up with a "bad crowd". It's safe and we love you here don't believe your oppressors that we live in a "dark continent"come back home
I can clearly see the happiness on that brother's face! Hes home foreal , coming from another American thats real ...one Africa 🌍🙌🏿🔥
Shout out to Dorothy Musa for letting her man lead the family to greener pastures 🔥🔥🔥
I am in Heaven... What!!! Did he say that? 😍😂💪🏽 Thank you bro. Lots of love 🇰🇪🇰🇪
Kenya 🇰🇪 is the gateway to other East African Community countries of Uganda 🇺🇬 Tanzania 🇹🇿 Rwanda 🇷🇼 Burundi 🇧🇮 DR Congo 🇨🇩 and South Sudan 🇸🇸. African Americans should consider this subregion the most progressive in Africa ❤😊

My daughter spent 11 days in Rwanda and said it changed her life!
As a Rwandan i hope it changed her for the best.

Africa is home to everyone.
Welcome home brotha.
No more being profiled by the police, or by the Walmart security.
Thank heavens that on these shores, you don't have to talk to your kids, especially your son about "the talk".
You can walk safely anytime within your neighborhood without having to worry if a neighbor will call the cops on you just because you exist.
This is your home just as much as it is ours.
Cheers to you bro!!

Ssssh...mension that there is no "God given right" to own a gun here😊
@@raanajak471 It’s always that 1 hater 😂
@@chocha4438
Hater? Is gun ownership legal in Kenya? It is in the US. And more often than not, directed at American Africans. US Right Wingers talk about "God given right" to own guns. School kids are shot up and the politicians do nothing. Shouldn't that be an issue when relocating to Kenya? Wacha utoto!
@@raanajak471 My point is, why are you bringing that negativity and argumentative tone to a positive video? Are you that miserable in your own life that you can only focus in the negative of a situation? What does that, have to do with this? Most Americans don't own guns so wtf are you even talking about??? Kenya was just a war zone not too long ago and there are countries in Africa that have child soldiers toting guns as we speak so who tf are you to talk??
@@raanajak471you can own a gun but getting the license takes even years
I can't imagine what's it's like to feel like you don't belong in the country in which you were born. I'm Kenyan and no matter where I go I know Kenya is home, even within Kenya it is a culture to go upcountry every holiday because that is what's considered home not the homes in cities. I'm increasingly realizing that I'm privileged to have that and if ever I have kids I would ensure they have the same, even if I move to the diaspora I would have my home upcountry and my kids must know all their cousins and speak the local language, From what I've seen it is a tragedy in waiting to uproot a person from his home and his people.
The US is not what you people think and this is coming from a Kenyan that's been here for more than 15 years, returning bacck home soon. If Kenyan wasn't home would definitely move to Ghana, Botswana or Ethiopia next door.
I can't imagine it either. Most Black Americans feel very at home in our own country that we played a significant role in building. We've been here for centuries - longer than most ethnicities and most of us would never consider making a permanent move to Kenya, which isn't even in West Africa - the place from which we were sold by West Africans. Our culture is rich and has had a huge influence on the rest of the world. We set the modern template for attaining civil rights. The battles we fought paved the road to make it easier for Blacks from other countries who have desperately want to become US citizens.
Because we could not afford to engage in tribalism, we stuck together against a common enemy which is why at only 13% of the population, we have more voting power than minorities who outnumber us and are vastly more successful than any other Blacks on the planet. We're not all walking around feeling that we are lacking something. We are not all obsessed with viewing ourselves and measuring ourselves through a caucasian lens. This is as much our country as it is theirs.
You see the ex-pat anxiety a lot in people who are attracted to the hateful anti-gay legislation of most African countries - that's the western "agenda" that bothers so many insecure and "suspect" ex-pats. You also see it in men who are seeking a patriarchal paradise. Of course, not all ex-pats are that way and I think it's great that they are living where they want to be.
I agree with you. It was a tragedy for us African Americans to be uprooted from our beloved home, Africa. If you are talking about repatriating, I am a teacher and children are very resilient. This move to Kenya and other developed countries in Africa could possibly be the best for our children! As parents we are afraid of our children going to school or playing outside. My children are grown and I still fear for their safety. It's everywhere in the US, even in the best schools and neighborhoods. The fear is taught to us early in life just so we can make it home from school, from work, from anywhere. My parents taught me and my grandparents taught them the fear of what it means to be black in America because our lives mean nothing to the white people. Here we are the hunted.
You can only understand this once you step, leave or work outside Kenya , you'll know how important and good our motherlands countries are
Living in a “diverse, colonial, racist “ country like USA does not benefit Black people at all. It ruins them…but benefits everyone else who isn’t Black. ❤
Proud of this brother, his wife and family. I pray God's continued guidance and peace upon them. Enjoying the Kenya content Jasmine. Looking forward to more.
🙏🏾❤️
Mfalme Musa and his wife are some of the kindest people i have followed on youtube. You are welcome home bro, tunakupenda❤️
I am happy to see that both you and Mfalme Musa are enjoying the peace and tranquility that is the motherland Nairobi, Kenya. KARIBUNI KENYA
I love that he is repping that Tusker T-shirt..😂
Just watched and subscribed to his channel,Kenya the best in East and also Africa
Mfalme Musa's t-shirt labeled TUSKER acronym = Tanzania , Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia Rwanda. Jasmine, you are very beautiful. Karibuni sana...
Make sure your children have kenyan citizenship let them bond with locals as much as possible and learn swahili to ground them to their roots
I live in the Caribbean and I´m retired now but if I was younger I would seriously consider moving back to the motherland. I can´t blame the brother for making this decision given the horrors that black Americans have to endure in Hellikkka.
This video made me subscribe. As a 🇰🇪 Britico this is just continual confirmation that I will move back home. Max 2 years🙏 More wins for Mfalme and his wife and children. May God continually guide him in Jesus Name.
Musa carries a lot of kenyan qualities - he is humble, looks serious with life and is oone minded. That's not standard African American. I am sure he was still different even in the US. Some would not appreciate what he has seen in kenya. Nevertheless with this kind of quality conversations it will empower both African Americans and Africans. I feel like the furure looks very good for people of Aftican descent. Thabk you Musa and Jasmine for a wornderful conversation
May God protect you.bro and your family and all brothers and sisters are moving to Africa ❤ 🇰🇪
You are doing an amazing job my sister. I only got positive vibes from your channel. Karibu to my home country Kenya. ❤ to see the brother loving it in 🇰🇪
Thank you so much 🙏🏾🤗
Awesome interview Jasmine!!! And he's right the crime in America and racism is getting worse than before. It's so bad that even some Americans want to move. The greatest wealth is peace of mind. Not money and material things. And of course faith in GOD which is the number 1# factor of peace of mind. Keep these great videos coming Jasmine. Thanks for sharing!!!
Some? A lot...you better not be looking for an American passport in the next two years honey.
@@AfricanTravellerChannel what do you mean?. I have a American passport and I've had my citizenship for over 15 years. And been living in the states for over 30 years.
Toys are there in plenty it's depends where you are looking kamukuji downtown Nairobi you will get the toys you need
Our government should do more to showcase Kenya out there as a place to relocate to, not just tourism. The amount of money that can come perpetually is a lot. A billion shillings toward this initiative will reap Kenya big in the long term
Kenya is beautiful,i agree it is heaven on earth.lot of business opportunities
Maximum support for this brother, please. Following from Minnesota.
That was the proverbial leap of faith @Mfalmemusa, moving to a new place based on research is just crazy
Kenyans notice no Ghanaians are attacking your country in the comments comparing or talking down on ur country but why y’all talk down on Ghana when u see someone praising or showing off Ghana ??? Please see the love she is showing and we aren’t attacking ur country we expect the same
Apologies Juliana, in a big community, u always find a few negative individuals. We are grateful for what Jasmine is doing.

Kenya to the world 🌎
Wonderful interview. Mfalme Musa’s +ve vibe about Kenya and Africa is soo refreshing.
Kenya and the rest of Africa openly welcomes our American brothers and sisters to come visit and experience the rich culture in Kenya / Africa.
Finally, Bwana Musa is very grounded and pragmatic. He clearly understands the power of “investing” and “money working for you” - hence freeing him and his family to have such a wonderful life experience in Kenya. Please also educate the locals on how to be savvy with their money and investments so they too can experience a fulfilling life, as you do.
Great interview by Jasmine!
Africa is HEAVEN.paradise😂
I love his humility I love the part he said , " nobody is better than me."
I've watched this video several times and what has touched me emotionally is " I don't feel black anymore". You can't imagine the number of people out there who are not enjoying their life to the fullest because of skin color etc
Hey Jasmine, I am subscribing to your channel right away, right now!
I am Kenyan, and let me just say... what you are doing to our motherland, and Africa for that matter is really... just... quite.... inspiring. Your other videos that showcased a very beautiful ultra-modern part of Nairobi made me just fall in love with my country (even more), regain lost hope, and develop a stronger sense of patriotism, and then there is this growing LOVE and ADMIRATION for my fellow Africans (Wherever they are on earth). I wish I could let them all know they are welcome back to their "home" as President Ruto recently pointed out the fact that Kenya is indeed the cradle of mankind and thus people, especially Africans, should feel free to come back home!
I also subscribed to it instantly.
I was touched by this vid, especially the part where he mentioned after coming off the plain and the locals saying, "welcome home brother." l am Jamaican, but I live in Canada, and frankly there is a lot of racism in Canada, so I don't like it here, especially with the cold. I 've been to Kenya twice and I love it there, and the peoples as well. I am thinking of straggling between Kenya and Jamaica when I retire.
very informative video
Love this interview!!

Amazing to hear good stories from diaspora and how they're liking settling in the one problem we have in some countries in Africa is instabilities, some of us we migrated to Europe, America and Australia because our countries has and is experiencing wars, but I am happy that african-american are giving Africa a chance Africa has a lot to offer the only challenge we've to combat is instability!
Great job Jasmine. Excellent interview. That's is so nice, a family of four can live off of 2,000 dollars a month, that's what's up. I pray that brother and his family have continued success in the Motherland. I look forward too making Kenya my home in the near future. Love from America. God bless. ❤
Karibu Sana.
Can you imagine if you come by yourself how much is fisable to live off of? That's the amount I thought 2,000 that I would need per month as a single woman...I would try to have enough for a round-trip ticket and enough money for an extra round-trip ticket just in case you have an emergency!! I still would like to have at least 10,000 min to come with also just so I don't feel stressed!!! Maybe rest for I month and just do nothing...I rather have a business so that I never have to worry about anything and also to not live beyond my means...I'm a creative person so I can make something from nothing...babby...get you some plants it makes a big difference...you don't need a lot of furniture
@jayajaya788 Kenya is like a country alot of black don't know about. Especially a retired person could love good off their social security their. Also people with internet business could do well in Kenya as well.
