  • In this episode, the Shogun gets some custom built coilovers and we figure out how to mount the rear suspension. Then, we put on some temporary wheels, let the car down off the jacks, and see if everything is going to work.

Thanks! 😁 there's a decent amount of time in thinking and planning that goes into many seemingly small things. I guess now I know how to make a coilover lol. Glad you are enjoying it too 🙂

The way you printed the templates for the tube cuts was so cool! Such a smart way to use solidworks. I'm currently taking a break from working on a solidworks final project for a CAD/CAM college course and its cool to see all the different uses of the software lol

I'm you think so too! Solidworks is pretty dang great 👍 I want to delve into the CAM side, but I don't have any CNC stuff yet... the 3D printer and laser don't count 😆 anyways, it's a good way to put some of my work history and education to work 😋 keep it up the learning! I use solidworks more often than I ever thought I would!

Thanks for using your genius for good instead of evil. Although this thing is probably going to be a demon on the road. That template trick is pretty wild! My favorite part though was making a “lathe” from wood and a grinder.

Haha, a demon for sure 😂😈 the template trick is pretty handy for sure. I've used it a few times on a couple other work projects in the past. I thought the lathe wood idea was pretty clever myself 😋 only figured it out half way through that first coilover, but it hit me like a pile of bricks... aw man... 2x6 and a 2" hole saw would make this much easier 😆🤓

For elimination of steering. Remove rack and pinion. Create bracket to center mount and create double end tie rod ends for adjustment

I'm a bit intrigued when it comes to the widebody, and fender wells. I know this project has alot of work left and I'm sure it's on the list but I think it would be a good idea to tackle that pretty soon. Last thing I want to see is this work going to waste because of a rainy day

    • @eyegood38

That's definitely going to be the hardest part for me. I need to get a complete scan of the car before designing. To do that, I need to get the final wheels figured out to know my body widths front and back. But to do that I need to solve the 4 lug vs 5 lug issue first. I have some width numbers off the internet for the original shoguns, but there is a lot that needs to be validated. I don't want to design the body and wind up with clearance issues due to not having the wheels figured out. In a perfect world, I could scan a real shogun and know what they did to solve the 4 lug vs 5 lug issue. Changing hubs or making custom assemblies leads to changes elsewhere, like the brakes... I'm working on it as time permits 😋 thanks for the thoughts! We are definitely thinking alike!

Hi, newbie to your channel, just an observation and an idea, do you have a welders fire blanket cause it will help you not burning through rubber pipes, electrical wiring and setting fire to the intetior in the front half of the car. I hope this of some use to you
