- Just to show how a potential of very good engine may be spoiled by too "long" gears - 5th a 6th gear are almost useless in this case. The dynamics is good anyway as 156 PS is quite a lot for a car like Peugeot 208. But it could be much better with adequate gearbox... www.Autoforum.cz
0-100 in 7s. It is damn fast for 115kw and long 6th gear is great for highway, seriously thinking about buying this car.
what does one cost nowadays? 9-10k euro's? if you are looking for a 2012-2013 build

I Know, I got mine about a month ago and man it´s awesome...it even beats the citroen DS3 and the golf 1.4 and polo either...man this thing is reallye fast.
Honestly a great acceleration. You hit the redline squeezing out its full potential making for an honest acceleration.

Exactly, and this is why 5th and 6th are long. just for saving fuel consumption on highway. And because going to Vmax is not something I do (or very rare...) it's fine to me ! :) I want one !

PSA & BMW haben diesen Motor entwickelt. Genau dieser Arbeitet im Mini und auch in diversen BMW Modellen. Guter Motor, tolles Auto. Genau der gleiche Motor wird im Peugeot RCZ verbaut und schaft 270PS!!!😃😃😃😍😍😍

I have a 208 xy 156 turbo it will do 60 mph in second gear on 6000 revs that is.Ihave had it a year now and they are pretty rare havent seen a blue one like mine yet.
Is that supposed to be impressive lol... that's deliberately geared that way, it's just the ratio they chose. It's actually a bit of a trick to improve the 0-60 figures (as a change up to 3rd gear before hitting 60 mph would increase the time).
This is the same strategy that Porsche uses: top speed is reached in the second-to-last gear.

These engines should be changed up at 5500 rpm to get the most out of them. They run out of torque before 6k. That is only if they are the same as the previous generation, however.
The gears are almost exactly as long as in my Mini One Clubman, which has only 98 PS. I guess that my car will only reach top speed in 4th gear.... I don't mind though, the 6th gear is good for fuel consumption on motorways.

Don't blame the 'long' gears!!! The stock engine has limit around 210km/h! That's becuase the turbo pressure falls down to 0,4bar after the 5500 rpms!!!! My opinion:Just make a remap of your engine and you ll see the difference! (With the program the turbo pressure falls down the 1.0bar!!!!

What are you talking about? The gearbox has perfect ratios, the car just runs into an aerodynamic wall at 215km/h. A tall 6th gear equals better consumption, and with wider rations you don't have to shift gear every 5 seconds in normal driving.

This gear ratio is better suited for the 208 GTI.

Je ne sais pas si tu as une version GT ou une autre version mais elle fais un bruit juste magnifique
Mais elle n'a que 300Km et elle est encore en période de rodage ( même si elle est vers la fin )
La vrai fin est estimé à 460 km à peu près
Bref , fais gaff' car ton moteur a l'air super

La 208 THP 156 est une version "normale" pas une sportive comme la GTi. (Bon, en fait elle existe uniquement en 3 portes finition hdg et elle a un boost temporaire à 260Nm et les réglages de trains roulants sont légèrement plus sportif mais restent typé confort).
Et ce sont des essayeurs ;)

I mean, the 308 GTi is basically the same engine. Surely it has received some adjustments, but is has up to 270 hp and 330 Nm.
How that you have this blue LED rings on your 208? Is your 208 XY model?
The THP 156 exist only in 3 doors "Féline" or now "XY" ;)

En passant les rapports au couple max donne par le constructeur elle monte beaucoup plus vite en vitesse que d'arriver en zone rouge personne n'arrive a comprendre ca le moteur ne repart pas sur une puissance max au changement de rapport en zone rouge cet essai c'est du n'importe quoi ca ne montre pas la puissance reelle de ce moteur mais juste a le faire gueuler pour rien
je suis bien d'accord avec toi, surtout sur un moteur turbo qui est conçu pour l’accélération donc le couple... il vaut mieux passer les rapports a 6000Trs pour repartir avec de la pêche plutôt que d’essouffler le moteur a 6600Trs

no , the vti engine is the one with 120hp and no turbo ,this one is the 1.6 thp (turbo) 156 hp

Martin Drouet Obligé oui, elle a les même perf que la version 200cv (et pas loin de la 208cv).
50cv d'écart et des perfs quasi similaire ça n'existe pas, cette voiture à du être reprogrammé et elle doit tourner en réalité autour de 200cv ^^
Aaron UPR bah il n'y a que 0.5 sec d'écart du 0 à 100 entre ces deux versions donc presque rien du tout.

what the one should expect from pugs from mid-00s? not just they look bad (corrected in 208/newest308), they are flawed cars in a lot of areas. that engine is good in some older pugs by test results. good in sprint and in-gear. 208 is flawed by bad dash (hard to see) etc. if you achieve top speed in 4th gear and you have 6, it is poor calculation. you are really turning one par of cogs for nothing, this is like 6th has been put on 5-speed 'box. this is small GTI car, so 'eco' 'box that isn't eco at all is bullshit.
my p12 2 litre petrol primera has 80 top spee in 2nd, around 120 in 3rd, 140-150 in 4th. that's how short this car's 'box' should be....
