- Would you believe me if I told you that there was a goalkeeper who scored over a HUNDRED goals throughout his career? As clickbait as it sounds, I'm not kidding. Rogerio Ceni is one of the most unique footballers of all time - achieving things no other goalkeeper has ever come close to doing.
But for some reason, not many know of this football legend who scored more free kick goals than even Messi and Ronaldo so today, we're going to look at this legend's story. As I promise you've never seen a career quite like Rogerio Ceni's.

Do you think any goalkeeper will ever reach Rogerio Ceniâs INSANE 131 goals? đ€ The man is truly a legend đŻ đ«Ą
Nope heâs one of a kind
In the modern game goalkeepers have to be as good at passing as midfielders like ederson at City so anything is possible
He also has the 2nd most cleansheets of any brazilian goalkeeper (417) only behind Fabio (currently at Fluminense) who has 424.
Do a TĂșlio maravilha video
I remember a game that Cruzeiro scored a goal. Ceni scored twice to win the game.
My man scored 21 goals in a season as a goalkeeper, let that sink in.
22 actually
truly insane. makes you wonder why most players todag donât dedicate as much time to being free kick masters
And he out scored strikers in more then one season
He also led SĂŁo Paulo to the only season in the history of Brazilian serie A of under 20 goals scored against in 2007 with 19. Man was good at both sides of the field
And today he is a good trainer.
RĂłgerio Ceni also holds 3 world records in the Guinness Book, being the goalkeeper with the most goals, the player with the most games for a single club and the player with the most games being captain of a club.
Entre 2009 e 2012 as glĂłrias dos sĂŁo paulinos era mais os records individuais do Ceni, que tĂtulos que nunca mais vieram.

FINALLY seeing some love for one of the most underrated footballers of all time!
Ceni wasn't just a GK who took free kicks. He was an excellent goalkeeper who also was one of the best free kick takers of all time. But other than the free kicks and saves, Ceni was definitely the best goalkeeper to ever grace the game when it comes to playing with his feet. He played as a sweeper keeper years before Neuer anticipating strikers with unbelievable first touch and composure even dribbling attackers as seen in a few clips on this video. He also had incredible vision and accuracy on long balls like no other keepers from his era.
More than that, Ceni is a Guinnes Book monster. He's the player with most official matches played, most victories in official matches and most matches as team captain in the history of the game. Dude is also the record holder for all of this achievements done in a single club!
always feels good to give flowers to these under appreciated and under the radar legends and greats đ«Ą

In the 2002 World Cup, he and Marcos, were playing as goalkeepers at the same level. The choice for Marcus was about a good relationship with the trainer. Marcos was his goalkeeper 3 years before in a successful campaign in Libertadores Cup, being champions at the end.
Thank you very much for this hommage to Rogerio Ceni!
Ceni is a living legend in brazilian football. Not only that, but he was the only player in the whole league, to have a unique goalkeeper shirt design every season, with his signature on it. The most beautiful one is his shirt from 2001 season, where the shirt has a sick steam train on it. (in pt-br: Camisa RetrÎ Rogério Ceni Penalty LG Locomotiva 2001)

I was 13 years old when I watched him score his 100th goal in a city derby. he not only broke the barriers of the goalkeeper position, but also overcame the barriers of rivalries. several fans of other teams in Brazil respect him and admire his work.
Palmeiras does not have a club world cup
just in time, he won libertadores and intercontinental cup 2 times (93 and 05), 93 at bench. Also, he has 4 guinness book records: player with most matches by the same team (1227), most appearances as captain by same team (981), goals as GK (131), wins playing by the same team (620).
In 2005, the year of libertadores title, he was the club's best scorer of the tournament: 5 goals. he is also the only GK to score at world club cup. For those who wants to watch the all time best match of a GK, IMO, search for SĂŁo Paulo vs Universidad Catolica in 2013, when he was 40 years old.

The good old times. I remember I was 5 years old when SĂŁo Paulo won the FIFA Club world cup against Liverpool. It was a dream coming true
About the goalkeepers of the 2002 "Seleção"; the coach Felipão worked with Marcos - the main goalkeeper - for years and he had a lot of confidence in him, that's why he put Rogério as a second option. But I can tell without a single doubt that that was the best generation of goalkeepers Brazil ever had and any of them would do the job perfectly. It was very rare for goalkeepers to go to Europe but they definitely had the level to plaiy in any European Leangue. Dida was an example who did great in Italy and he was the 3rd option for the Brazillian National team (even so he was just as good as Marcos).

Thank you for the video, for remembering the goalkeeper of my team from the heart.
Before Manoel Neuer Rogério was already a legend with his feet..
61 freekick goals from a goalkeeper? How and why the hell is this guy not in Europe's top 5.
So halfway through this vid, I found the answer for that. He's a one club guy. Well that's cool but man did we miss out on him. Without this video I'd probably never will know about this freak.
Seriously, 61 goals from free kicks. Mad.
Because he was always a fanatic SĂŁo Paulo F.C fan, and dedicated all his carrer for defender his club of heart. Almost like Totti in Roma.
you have to remember, had he gone to EU, he wouldnt have anywhere near as many chances to FK, no matter how talented he was at it. every once in a while? sure, but i doubt he would be able to score even half of those in there.
â@@marcosdhelenoFK is technique...100% sure he would have scored them in europem
@@henry247 you missed my point, i dont doubt he would be able to SCORE them, my problem is would he able to even SHOOT them in the first place?
how many coaches would let their keeper shoot when they had access to other takers ready to not only prove they are better at FK, but also to not allow them to be seen as "so bad that the keeper has to".
dont forget, the reason he was able to even try is because he was the only one on the team to train them that hard in the first place.
@@marcosdheleno I mean...if he's the better free kick taker in the team...why not?
Especially if we talk abt nowadays standard where almost no one practices free kicks.
Melhor goleiro do Brasil, bate a falta, faz o gol đ¶

If it wasn't video recorded, you wouldn't beleive it...
So many goddamn records!
Difficult to wrap your head around this... 20+ goals in a season, as GK? Insane
Thanks for doing this video. Rogério Ceni is my maximum idol in football and he deserves more international recognition. He has a lot of records despite the 131 goals. He is also the player with most matches in just one club and the player who was the captain in most games. Truly a legend
A legend of the game...
Somewhat of a "prototype" neuer in how he played with his feet
One of the biggest in Brasil's history
Não , Nå mesma epoca do Ceni tinha o Chilavert e o Rustu que tambem jogavam com o pé saiam da area etc. e antes dele teve o Higuita
