Nothing more satisfying than seeing our boys out there, getting their hands dirty playing with big rusty ring pieces. Can definitely tell Mat has a lot of experience dealing with such matters.
The way Matt hammered that rusty ring was masterful😂
My squadron received one of these fodens , a guy named Pete was responsible for looking after it , and operating it , he went on courses on how to operate , and maintain it , it was his pride and joy , and after about 12 months it was immaculate, better than when it arrived , .....while on exercises it was called on to retrieve a ditched scimitar, nothing out of the ordinary, Pete decided on lifting it would be the best option , and proceeded to do that , for reasons unknown , he did not use the outrigger thingy's and rolled the foden into the ditch , I don't know if it was a right off , but petes future in the squadron was
Loving the smoke filled workshop at the beginning, takes me back to my apprenticeship 😂 people coming out the building sobbing because of the smoke 🙈
Nice. That Foden truck really can move things around like it's nothing.
When stripping out your A frame pull the quick release pins which hold the adaptors to the frame they are designed to take punishment your threaded bolts aren't. You'll find a tool in the Foden about a foot long with a rounded hook on one end and a flattened hook on the other called a Reccy Mech tool. The flattened hook is designed to unlock and rotata the quick release pins and the other end fits through the same metal loop on top of the pin giving better leverage to pull it out. You can also tap the bottom of the pin once it's unlocked.
Love Fodens, use to drive a 4375,4000 series with a 375 RR Eagle in it and Eaton Twin Split. Pulled like a.train, last of a mighty breed before DAF wrecked them! If I won the lottery first thing I d buy is a Foden wrecker....ahhhh dream on!! Great vid, let's see more of both at work.
7:15 Mastermilo tunes. Including tank settings. This and Mastermilo are great channels 👍🏼
What a great yard working around all those beauties. Nice one boys.
The foden The right tool for the right job everything works well when it's Made to do the job
It’s a babe!
Ultimate goal for me. Setting a recovery firm with a foden. Such a versatile bit of equipment.
IF you can afford the fuel cost !!
I think k the guys said it only does about 6 mpg on a good day !!
@@NUTTER8291Thats why Crouch’s has a Cummins
that foden really does the business,it used to be a Vigor that moved all the tanks around at the workshops
Proper yard Tug!
Does the job
We had two at my last job, both had stacks and sounded insane. Mad piece of kit, would lift or pull anything but couldn’t drag its own sorry ass up a hill
The other one has a lovely stack up the back, sounds naughty!
I remember we got x2 Land Rover 110s , a 4 Tonner , Drops wagon all stuck up in Sennybridge on an exercise once . A Foden pulled them all out in one go ! Looked awesome to watch.
I bet that shed had an awesome smell right at the start, proper old school. 💕💕👍👍🇬🇧
A fine toy box indeed. 👍🇬🇧
i think all of you need to get your rings sorted out !!!
When hauling with a chain you only need to be just over the length of the chain away to be safe. Apart from the broken link, which can travel about a quarter of a mile!
I loved driving my Foden in the army Rolls Royce eagle engine loved starting it up on a cold frosty morning filled the vehicle park with smoke. Just loved that truck.
Wrecker is a beast!
Big Boys Toys and some .....
And if you can't be arsed to work on chuff chuffs then an MBT will do nicely.
Love the old sea shanty ! 😄👍
Nothing moves without a ten pack of Herforder...
And nothing moves without Wolfgang knowing about it.
That Foden can do some awsome work, it is big and bruttish but I would think it can be gentle at the same time, thanks for sharing, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
I've never driven a Foden butI have tried the predecessor Thornycroft 6x6. Don't suppose many of them left now. Tons of torque and an engine as smooth as silk.
That was a good day out. Bit off a beast that Foden.
I saw an ad for a 6 x 6 Foden recovery truck just the other day, looks like an amazing piece of kit.
I’d love to work on big kit. Looks a right laugh if completely knackering😩 I’m getting on now and spannering all day fubars my back.
Great stuff Matt👍 Love to see an A34 Comet being restored.
I used to instruct on the Foden wrecker. Great bit of kit.
The mighty Foden - some great diesel sounds!
Can't WAIT to see this best up close at the next show !!
That's a Tool some things we get Right good video thanks
Great stuff, tanks for posting. 😆
Great watch. Nice choice of music too 👌
That was fun!
That eyelet needs a good reaming, or even just 10 minutes with a file, to take off the high spots from the flame cuts.
I used to do testing for the MOD one of the trials was testing the break away pull of a vehicle and the rolling resistance. It only take a pull of a few tons to get moving and one moving it's probably less than a ton to keep it moving
Love a halftrack
I remember daisy chaining three fodens in Canada pulling out a crrav that was buried upto it’s belly pan 75 tons pulled
Nice to see my old friend Freddy enjoying his retirement. Don't ignore the oil leaks when a Foden stops leaking you're in trouble.
Ace!
Cant beat hitting stuff with hammers.
Damn you got some nice toys !! pity it's voluntary it's my dream job
thanks for sharing Mat 👍
You buggas are as crude as anything.. LOVE it. Keep em comin. The Ole Fella from Downunda.🤣
Can't wait that video
R.E.M.E boys toys.
Reminds me of my childhood in germany visiting my uncle Bob a major in the R.E.M.E.
Germany 1984 and Belgium too.
lub it........the old Foden even has its own forward emitted diesel smoke screen...........to make those rapid reverse gear retreats very much safer.
As Lord Muck would say "all the smoke"
fatter mit - fitting ring piece to wheel so he doesn't slip off while wearing high heals hehe or is that Joe?
do like the Foden, nice looking beastie
The foden really made it look easy
fooking brilliant
Three German Officers Crossed The Line! 🙂
Wicked video mate
Front muffler pipe. What's that all about?
Damn that's a sexy beast.
Great
What a machine 👏 nice one mat
Ps is there anymore fastrac content coming?
been a foden enthusiast since i was a kid riding around with my dad in his Foden, what I would give to drive one of these!
Foden recovery, the dogs bollox, the only trouble is that it makes you cry in an enclosed space........ set the fire alarms off in the REME, not remy, overflow collection whilst track bashing on the Conqueror ARV!!!!!
We had the AEC militant wrecker before the foden was introduced to our regiment
Foden. A device for turning Diesel in to noise and smoke
2:40, Installing the old shin ripper 5000?
Any jobs going for a mig/tig welder ?
Could do with some oil on that Foden rear tow hook🤣
How many gallons per foot on the wrecker
Did say foden is the best wrecker going for moving tanks
Middle wheel looked a bit sick when reversing out..
So, who's up for seeing how fast the Foden can tow one down the motorway using the A-frame? Better stick road pads on the tracks first though, resurfacing M-ways gets expensive!
The Foden….. ‘it’s a bit of a babe……. 🤣’
Noooooooooooo
hi Matt great video do u guys do anything at the victory show cosby leicester?
Are you guys anywhere close to chesterfield would love to volunteer a weekend or summat
Do you still sell the angry spanner merch the older stuff never got any last time cheers love the videos
Tipicle fitter tool kit 1 tool 3 sizes
Methinks you need a new ring on that "A" frame
I was just reading that 380 Cheftern Tanks had to be destroyed totally at the end of the cold war and also witnessed by Russian officials due to the arms reduction treaties - the thing was India and others had asked the UK government to buy them but because of the agreement they had to be destroyed and they had to be fully working front line models as well
Too right mate, mine was one of them 01FD06!!!
Just goes to show how fucking stupid our government is, now we know Russia has thousands all be it shitters In reserve.
@@mikeandhev was the 380 figure correct, some sources are saying 350 with a small amount saying something else
@@QALibrary I don't know the exact number. Rob Griffin published an excellent book on the Chieftain and I found out about the fate of "my" Chieftain from his book. He lists the fate of all of the Chieftains in an appendix at the back of the book, it is an excellent read.
😎👍
Did you use low-box to pull it?
Low range for sure
Whats the 6x6 chassis in the shed? Its not the Diamond T is it?
Give me five lifetimes and I wouldn't be able to come near something that you guys actually consider too clapped out to repair. If I had money though, I'd take an absolute pile of shit just to paint it up and make it look like something and track the gun on people driving by my house. What is it on tracked vehicles, like an hour of run time calls for an hour of maintenance? I think you love this life and I really hope you do. Looks like so much fun and a lot of hard work!
A proper British truck, it even quit smoking a bit after some exercise - like a Sunday league footballer
So when are you guys getting a Thornycroft Antar?
they were buying an ex RAF Thornycroft airfield fire truck ..... Not quite the same though ...
@@1chish one for sale on milweb with dyson trailer, only #£35k
for storage wouldn't it be worth elevating and angling the barrels so they fit closer
👍
The British or Aussi John Travolta. lol dude you look just like him.
Whats the reason for the forward exhaust? 😀
So it’s not in the way while doing recovery things. Our 6x6 Aus Army Macks are like that. In front of the steer. if it points up, i suppose the enemy can recognise it as a truck? 🤷♂️
I wonder how the foden would compare to the american hemit
Delicious
🤣🤣 I've been watching your videos and never seen your face I thought you was about 80
If you ever need a video editor to push your channel forward give me a shout Matt, more than happy to help.
Kelogs forklift licence
The one and only!
@@fittermat it's the most advanced one
trucks a total babe
Jim
Do you have grease in the UK ?
The machine is either too new to need grease, or too old to deserve it!
Tidy
I imagined that Matt would be much more practiced at hammering a ring.
Not much need to hide when pulling with chains. If they fail, they drop. Its other things that bounce and whip around.
Also, shouldnt the FLT be painted green so it matches the rest of the yard?
ST 202 or ST205
Foo kin yell, that was stuck on there :o Do you need an interface fit in a NATO hitch? :D
It’s handy moving this sort of weight
@@fittermat Interference Fit , stoopid smell checker :D Yes, weighty she is, to shove weighty stuff. I wondered why you didn’t use the front hitch, but I figured it probably didn’t steer then, just skidded sideways. Low Buck garage found himself a military 4x4x4 tug, which is quite the beast. Lucky find.
What was that music at 7:20? I recognise but cannot put a name to it. The fancy online music apps all failed to identify it.
Nothing scares the man from the Sea --- Serenity Shelter 👍
That fodens a cracker
That 1/2 gun wont get anywhere near the torque for these studs
We always had to disconnect the final drive output shafts from the gearbox when being towed
The gearbox is lubricated by a pump that is driven by a shaft from the engine,if the engine isn't running the gearbox isn't lubricated
are you selling one. how much cash. from newzealand
That A-frame ring is so well machined and fits perfectly, not!
scania swap that celica on the trailer
I was thinking the old J4 flatbed as a candidate .... 🤭🤭
It’s better to nose armour into a workshop with the Foden. More manoeuvrable.
