  • Low sex drive in men, a complex issue often misunderstood, goes beyond the simple equation of testosterone levels. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Stefan Buntrock, a board-certified urologist and sexologist from Göttingen, delves into the intricacies of human sexuality, highlighting the multifaceted nature of sexual desire. Despite testosterone's pivotal role in both men and women's libido, it's just one piece of the puzzle. The phenomenon encompasses a range of psychological, physical, and environmental factors that interplay within the brain's delicate systems. Age naturally diminishes libido, especially noticeable in the sixth decade of life, marking a normal part of aging that many struggle to accept. Modern life, with its demanding jobs and stress, further complicates our sexual well-being, diverting energy away from sexual activities.
Moreover, factors such as depression, anxiety, chronic diseases, and even lifestyle choices like intense gym workouts can unexpectedly lower sex drive. Buntrock emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach in diagnosing and treating sexual desire issues, advocating for a bio-psycho-social perspective. This approach understands sexuality as not just a physical experience but one deeply intertwined with psychological and social dynamics. The goal of therapy, therefore, is not to find a one-size-fits-all solution but to tailor treatment to individual needs, often involving significant changes in personal and relational dynamics. Dr. Buntrock's insights shed light on the complexities of sexual desire, advocating for a broader understanding and individualized care.

Definitely true that a lot of it is in the mind! Psychogenic causes of ED accounts for a lot of cases, especially when physically you seem fine. I’ve found that combining stress relieving supplements like standardized hot-water Tongkat Ali root extract and meditation has helped a lot with my stress levels and libido. It’s really brought my performance and pleasure to another level!

Great channel! I believe you're right.... It's emotional and in the mind...
I believe many men have allowed the world to make them feel demoralized and fearful to be instinctually male; for fear of being humiliated and / or canceled.

Excellent, to the point as always. Soon a 7 will be punched in front of my age. I just experienced a drop-off in desire and I relate it to aging. Luckily my wife shares my problem and we can speak about openly. There are many ways to enjoy sexuality you just have to find ways to do it.

There is no one size fits all solution. However, if you rewatch the video and really pay attention, you will find all the answers. That’s how therapy works: you figure it out by yourself. Suggestions and solutions presented by the therapist are ineffective. I know this is hard to understand…

Prolactin can be elevated when there is a benign tumor within the hypophysis. Excessive prolactin suppresses testosterone production. So one would also find testosterone deficiency.
