    i live in a house with 2 floors so was wondering how far away the sensors can be from the main unit? thanks!

    • @OSIGoDirect
      @OSIGoDirect  Před rokem

      The Maximum Distance sensors can be away from the Alarm Display:
      Door-Window Sensor: 30m (98 Feet)
      PIR Motion Sensor: 40m (130 Feet)
      remote control: 40m (65 Feet)
      Important: The distances noted above are tests conducted in an open space with no obstructions. Walls or other barriers will affect the signal strength. A Concrete wall or metal cladding can greatly reduce the signal distance. If your sensors or magnets are mounted on a door or window (or door/window frame) that is metallic, this can interfere with the magnetic field of the magnet.
      An RF signal repeater can solve sensor connection issues: osigodirect.kb.help/osi-signal-repeater/

    • @OSIGoDirect
      @OSIGoDirect  Před rokem

      If you reduce the distance of the sensor totals above by half, this will give you an idea as to how far the sensors can be away from the alarm display with minor obstructions.

      here is a video showing how to set an alarm code.
      you can have 2 code. one is a system code. and one is a user code. user code you will want to give to kids, employees, guests etc. System Code would be for the owner as they can change the user code at any time.
      People with the User code cannot make changes to your System Code.

    • @OSIGoDirect
      @OSIGoDirect  Před rokem

      Hi Robert,
      Unfortunately it is not possible to achieve this with the alarm settings. You would have to choose either having a delay or no delay on the sensors. There is a work around for this though.
      However, a way to achieve the best of both worlds is to set all sensors to no delay, this will trigger the alarm immediately whether you set the alarm to 'Away' or 'Stay'. But, what you can do is disarm the alarm system before you enter your place using the Smart Life app or by using the remote control.
      I hope this helps.

      We have found that there is a recent change with cell providers in North America where suddenly their sim cards are no longer fully compatible with our alarm system, we are not sure what the reason is behind this but unfortunately we have come to the conclusion that the SIM Card Feature is no longer stable enough to use in North America for now. We are working on figuring out this issue but unfortunately we do not have an estimated date as to when this will be resolved. Please read the below explanations and options that you may want to explore.
      There are 2 Main Reasons customers want to use the SIM Card Feature
      The SIM Card feature is used for two reasons, either for those who live in remote areas with no Wi-Fi and want to be able to control their alarm system and receive phone/text notifications
      For those who do have Wi-Fi (where system alarm notifications are free) but the customer wants to also receive phone calls / SMS text messages as well.
      The Smart life app recently came out with a new feature where you can have the app phone your cell or receive an SMS text when the alarm is triggered. We are currently testing this feature out.

    Was wondering if I must use a SIM card.....will the unit alert me through the app if the alarm is tripped?

    • @OSIGoDirect
      @OSIGoDirect  Před rokem

      No, the alarm only requires wifi connection and uses the smart life app to control and receive alarm notifications.
      The SIM card is only needed if you want to use the call feature where you can program up to 5 phone numbers. When the alarm is triggered it will call the first number. If no one answers it will go on to the next number amd so on. Once someone answers they will.hear phone promps where they can disarm the alarm among other things. Its also great for those who dont have wifi or internet service. This way they can still remotely arm and disarm the alarm through reg telephone as well as get sms text alarm notifications.
      Otherwise, there is no need to use a SIM Card. A very small percentage of people dont use the SIM card feature. But, its available if you want to use it.

      Hello,
      Re Connecting installed door sensor.
      First turn off all motion pir sensors when adding door sensors. Motion sensors give off constant signal so it will confuse the display into thinking it connected the door sensor when it did not.
      Then do this
      1. Select accessores
      2. Select detectors tab
      3 make sure door is in closed position
      4. Select plus icon on top right to add. You have 25 seconds before time out
      5. Now open the door.
      Done
      *Change the name of the sensor
      *Make sure to change zone attribute to out arm active. Out arm active means whem you arm as HOME OR AWAY the sensor will.be activd
      *device name set to Door Alarm.
      Now you are good to go!
      ****************************
      Yes to set the pin do this
      Now we need to create the new code
      Select Back (you should be on the Settings page
      Select Password
      Select System
      Select Delete Button old password (back arrow with x)
      Press the Double square icon (on/off swtich) it should turn green
      Enter new code
      Select Checkmark to confirm settings
      You are now done.
      Hope this helps!

    how long RFID or wireless contact last ?

    • @OSIGoDirect
      @OSIGoDirect  Před rokem

      3-5 Years. Active RFID tags use one of two main frequencies - either 433 MHz or 915 MHz - to transmit information. They contain three main parts, including a tag, antenna, and interrogator. The battery in an active RFID tag should supply enough power to last for 3-5 years. This depends on how much an RFID tag is used.

    • @OSIGoDirect
      @OSIGoDirect  Před rokem

      Sensors: How long the batteries last depends on usage but typically all sensors usually last approximately 1 year. We recommend getting into the habit of changing the batteries for all your sensors at the same time as when you replace the smoke detector batteries. The Smart Life app will notify you when the batteries are low.
      Door/Window sensors: 3- 12 months
      Motion PIR sensors: 6-12 Months

    • @OSIGoDirect
      @OSIGoDirect  Před rokem

      Did you mean how to you have the alarm system send you a text to your phone? This will work if you have a sim card installed in the alarm system.
      You would need to purchase a cell phone plan with your provider and they will provide the sim card. This is recommended for customers who do not have Wi-Fi at the location where the Alarm system is going to be installed.
      If you have Wi-Fi, then a sim card is not necessary as the alarm panel will send you an alert notification to your phone via Wi-Fi if the alarm is triggered. This will be done through the Smart Life app.

      No sorry this does not work with 5G network, The current model actually only works with 3G (which the 3G Network is now almost completely phased out). However, our new 4G/LTE model will be coming out in late May.

      @OSIGoDirect  Před 2 lety

      In order to receive text alerts from the Alarm System you only need to have Wi-fi in the property in which it is installed and the Smart Life app installed on your smartphone/tablet. as long as you have a data plan on your phone you can receive notifications, arm & disarm, check log and make setting changes etc.
      If you insert the sim card it will allow the OSI Alarm System to call up to 5 pre programmed phone numbers when the Alarm Sensors get Triggered. However the the current OSI Alarm System model works only with 2G and 3G networks which have been phasing out world wide. A newer 4G OSI Alarm System model is releasing in May of 2022. This will work with any Sim card purchased from any major network in your country.

      A Sim Card and plan would need to be purchased from you cell service provider. You then enter the designated phone numbers (up to 5) for the the alarm panel to call when a sensor is triggered. Note: A Sim Card is not necessary if you have wi-fi. Notifications can also be received using your wi-fi network in combination with the Smart Life App installed on you smart phone / Tablet.

      The sensors can be renamed on the Smart Life app. The sensors cannot be renamed on the Alarm Panel display.
      To rename the sensors on the Smart Life App:
      1. Select the Alarm Device on the Smart Life App
      2. Select Accessories
      3. Select 'Detector'
      4. Select the sensor (Detector)
      5. Select the 'Sub device name'
      6. Name the sensor
      7. Save settings
      8. When the sensor is triggered, the name will appear in the app notification.
