He's a great communicator. It was a well prepared lesson filled with insightful and practical reminders.

We are all given talents by God. When we work, we put those talents to use. And we also discover much about ourselves through our work. When we work, and produce, we are also serving others who may not have the same talents. For example, someone who makes cars serves the person who cannot make their own car. And the person who builds houses serves those who cannot build their own homes.

This was fantastic! I am passing it on!
This is the sort of thing that needs to be taught in churches, in small groups, in Sunday School, etc. So often there's a Sunday/Monday disconnect. hat is because people have not been taught how God's Word applies to everyday issues like these!

Look up Thomas Sowell. He is a great economist. His ideas are very similar and thought provoking.

Messages like this are so difficult for me to hear. I've been without full time/permanent work for 6 miserable years now. Not months, years. No matter how much I look, no matter how many times I've begged God to open doors, nothing is happening.
My confidence is gone. My sense of feeling like a productive, independent adult is gone. My hope is nearly gone. My main part time job will be gone soon.
    And still nothing happens.

Hmm...well maybe you're trying to add value in the wrong way? Or maybe you need to increase the value of what you're offering? Learn a new skill or try doing something that you have a higher competence with? If certain doors aren't opening maybe it's time to knock on some new ones or to put yourself in the position where u can

A side note, will Adam say to you, “Aren't you glad we ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” For sure, we know God decrees all things happen, for He is sovereign. God did not undermine man’s capability ((ESV) 6 And the LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another's speech.”Genesis 11:6-7”).
    Glory to God!

A weak one sided theology of work... Where it is all positive. How about a theology of work in a fallen world

"When God entrusts with stewardship, He implies an expectation of human achievement."
"When government stitches income equality, in hinders the poor because it hinders economic growth, which is the effect of means to truly help the poor."
"What a free market? A free market is a market that directs economic decisions; not the government."
"In a free market, I think that profits can be understood as a measure of how much good a business has done for other people. Therefore, those who make the biggest profits have best acted in love for others; if not in their motives, at least in their results."

Actually the King James Version of today is much different from the 1611 translation. In 1769 the translation was given more than 75,000 changes.
