I just want to say how much i enjoy taking this reaction ride with you ! You have a wonderful way of expressing yourself !
May Gods Blessings be with you !
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
I totally agree with you!
Hi Britt, Chicago is an "ELITE" Rock Band that is also well known for it's horn section; they've been around since the late 60's early 70's and they continue to tour today in 2023!!! Needless to say, they have a "DEEP" musical catalog which you may want to continue exploring starting with a song by them titled: "CALL ON ME" because it too is a "Vibe" & a "Bop!!!"
I grew up with this great band from the 70's-80's. They were a rock & roll band with horns & blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, & pop music. They had a lot of great songs such as "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Beginnings", "Questions 67 & 68", "I'm A Man", "Where Do We Go From Here?", "Free", "Lowdown", "Colour My World", "You're The Inspiration", "Will You Still Love Me?", "Look Away", "Feelin' Stronger Every Day", "Old Days" etc.
One of the things I REALLY miss in modern music is the brass. Lots of '70s music featured horns.
I miss studio musicians and album liner notes.
Chicago is one of my top five favorite bands. So many hits over decades. They had horns in their music since they started.
Now THAT’S music!!
Next “25 or 6 to 4”. (What time they wrote the song. 25 or 26 min to 4 am) I KNOW! They’re geniuses! With an ex-TEN-sive catalogue!! One of my favorite groups ever! Feel-good music doesn’t get better than Chicago!! You go, Britt! Look at you!! Been waiting!! 🎶🎶❤️❤
@awe geez edith Eh…it doesn’t take away from the song/performance and they always want to know ✌🏼
The song really was written after a walk in the park, describing what was seen, and one of the reasons that it works is because it is so grounded in daily life. In that respect, it's much like "25 or 6 to 4", which is about writer's block, up late trying to get something done....just a description of something many are familiar with.
This song takes me back to being a little kid again. Growing up in the 70s was awesome.
I saw these guys six times over the years, starting mid-70s and they never disappoint. The last time, early 90s, they opened for the Moody Blues and a girl who worked for me got us tickets. I took my son, who played the trombone along with several other instruments, and he’s a huge Chicago fan because of the brass being so prominent in their songs. We met my employee and her husband at the venue and she said she had a surprise for us. When we got inside, she found her brother in law who was in charge of security at the venue. He then marched us to the very front (and I mean VERY) where we were allowed to stand at the security railing literally six feet from the stage. It was almost like being part of the bands.
Chicago has so many "feel good" songs like, "Make Me Smile", "Beginnings" and "Feelin' Stronger Every Day" just for starters. That's of course, the short list but a few of my favorites.
thank you ✍🏻
That tempo/meter change in the middle really is masterfully done. These guys are top notch, and the song is an easy groove 👍
That's called a bridge and yes, it's fantastic. Seamless and it elevated the song.
I was 11 when this song came out. We had such great music back then.
Now you've heard all three of Chicago's vocalists: Peter Cetera on "25 or 6 to 4," Terry Kath on "Make Me Smile" and Robert Lamm (keyboardist) on this song. Love your reactions!
Some of the BEST. Song along with the radio music. It just feels good.
Terry Kath was a badass guitar player. RIP
Yes he left us way too soon Rip Terry Kath🎸
Seals and Crofts "Summer Breeze" is another cool song from the 1970s
Favorite Chicago Song All Time!!!
I wonder why the cameramen focused on the trumpet player (Lee Loughnane) to the exclusion of the other horns (James Pankow [trombone] and Walt Parazaider (sax]). Anyway, if you go down the rabbit hole you'll find there are two eras of Chicago: with Terry Kath and without Terry Kath. He was their guitarist, and an underrated one at that. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following their eleventh album; after that Chicago transitioned from a jazz-rock group to a ballads group, with Peter Cetera (bass) singing almost all the leads. Many people don't even know about their earlier stuff. If you want to get a sample of what they sounded like in their earlier days, try "Introduction" (first song off the first LP), "Beginnings," "Poem 58," "South California Purples," "Color My World," "Call on Me," and of course, "25 or 6 to 4." Great stuff, and it only scratches the surface.
Remember this is LIVE with no auto tune REAL TALENT!
they got talent for sure !!
@BrittReacts You're doing GREAT on your channel you will grow like 🤪 crazy I follow many and you are a star! 100k coming to a channel near you! 😄❤️
Indeed, but the studio is better for a first time hearing. Just like we did. Just makes sense.
I grew up on Chicago. They are one of the best bands ever if not the best.
Chicago’s older music is absolutely fantastic. They used horns a lot. The studio cuts sound better though.
#1 hit when i was growing up in NYC
I have a fun story to share regarding this song. I saw them in concert at the Muni in St Louis on Fri, Jul 3, 1992. The muni is on Forest Park. I always said had the concert have been a day later, it would have been perfect for this song!
YES!!! I just discovered you and your channel about an hour ago, and you hooked me with reaction videos to Home Free, Morissette, and Angelina Jordan....and then I find you reacting to my favorite band in the history of EVER!! I'm a Chicago fanatic, especially their early days (their first ten years). Great vocals, killer horn section, my favorite drummer (I learned my drum skills by listening to Chicago), and the most underrated guitar player ever. Here are my suggestions for songs that are both classics, and my personal favorites:
*25 or 6 to 4
*Make Me Smile
*Beginnings
*Introduction
*Just You and Me
*(I've Been) Searchin' So Long
*Questions 67 and 68
*Colour My World
Thank you for checking out my band!!!! 🥰
I'm one of the biggest Chicago fans ever. Love them so much, have been to many concerts and I own every album they've ever put out. That being said, you folks need to do a search for Leonid & Friends and listen to their Saturday In The Park. They are the ultimate tribute band and if you know Chicago like I do, you'll see that they play the song note for note. Since all of the original Chicago guys (inlcuding me) are old dudes now, Leonid & Friends are a re-birth of Chicago. Catch one of their concerts. You won't be disappointed.
I Would Be Really Disappointed!!
Please listen to more of this awesome band!
On july 4th, 1976, I was celebrating my birthday in a park in Boulder,CO. I still remember this song.
If I remember correctly, I saw Yellow Submarine in a hazy theater that night.
such an amazing band.
"25 or 6 to 4" is another great one of theirs from a couple of years before this came out.
"25 or 6 to 4" (meaning 25 or 26 minutes before 4AM) is a great Chicago son!
1st concert I went to 1974 I love Chicago
Saw Chicago in 1974. I was 14 my first concert. Hooked ever since. Thanks Britt!
You have to listen to more! YOU'RE GONNA REALLY LOVE IT. My wedding song was JUST YOU AND ME.
My favorite Chicago song
Chicago! Originally called Chicago Transit Authority. A premier band if the 70's in that iteration. Terry Kath was so good on guitar that Jimmy Hendrix said he was better them himself. Doubtful? Listen to 25 or 6 to 4, the live version can be found on YT.
its easy to forget how great chicago were in their early days
When first exploring a song, I encourage you to listen to the studio version first as the sound's usually better.
Chicago were huge through the 70's and 80's. Try "Old Days" from around '75.
Great band!!!
Hey girl I'm so glad you found my homeboys... I'm from Columbus Georgia but I got into Chicago in 1970, my brother gave me an album.. a33 omigod so long ago. I was 13 years old and this made me appreciate music 🎵. Enjoy honey 🍯 💕
Great summer song.
OMG my favorite Chicago song. I’ve seen them live so many times. They still tour. They will be in my area in September. Robert Lamb on keyboards ❤️. This video was from early 70s. Beards and hair were shaggy. As you explore more of their music, the hair gets groomed and they really handsome talented men. On trumpet James Pankow sings lead on a song, plays an amazing trumpet solo and then continues to belt out the song. I would need an oxygen tent. 😂
Special mention, Terry Kath. A great guitarist who passed away in 1978 from a gunshot wound to the head. Kath did have severe addiction issues that clouded his judgement in handling a gun he thought was empty, held it to his head and fired. RIP Terry.
This song is about sunny Saturday in NYC Central Park. Each level of the story is so true. I recall in the mid 80s I was young and in love. We would drive into the city and just walk. Families, the ice cream vendor, a guy with a guitar playing to a crowd who dropped money into an open guitar case. One time there was a Mime and a guy swallowing swords. Best time of my life. The music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s are a soundtrack. Not to a movie but to our lives. Each musical note is a memory.
Lamm!!
This song never grows old. Top 10 for me. Thanks for reacting to it!
I'm so glad you bumped into Chicago, sweet Britt! ❤
They are an epic talent. A couple tracks I recommend would be "Feeling Stronger Every Day" and "25 or 6 to 4." 😁👍✌️🎸
An Early MUST HEAR Classic,, Chicago "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is"
Chicago is one of the greatest bands out of Phoenix. I love how they reflect their southwest heritage.
25 or 6 to 4, live from Tanglewood in Lenox, MA. You will be blown away.
Lighthouse is another good band with horns, One Fine Morning, Sunny Days,
Originally called CTA, the Chicago Transit Authority
I like the way you picked up the change in the middle. Good listener!!! :)
The combination of jazz and rock, evidenced in Chicago and a few other bands, is what makes this and their other songs so timeless. Key changes, interesting chords, great horn section. Just awesome for the past 60 years! For a live version... today... check out the very good YT phenomenon, Leonid & Friends. Their covers of Chicago (and other band's) songs is spot on and sooo joyful !!!
They still tour. Including the Toledo Zoo this summer. I hope it dosen't rain!
This is real as music gets in my youth great band n sound.. ELO is another one with a distinct sound evil woman live @Wembley !!
Britt, your smile says it all!
Early Chicago is one of the best bands ever. After Terry Kath died it went down hill from there into bubble gum pop.
The guitar solo on 25 or 6 to 4 may only be second to Van Halen on the stuff you have listened to. "Make me Smile" or I'm a man show off his vocal talents as well.
Have to listen to 25 or 6 to 4....Terry Klath is the guitarist
25 or 6 to 4. The live version.
You haven't really heard Chicago until you've heard "25 or 6 to 4"
What good feel , good time song....
facts!
They have probably 40-50 albums with multiple musicians. It’s probably take a year to listen to all their songs. 🎶👍
Girl, you gotta check out another Chicago song from this era that is so driving and upbeat and filled with horn sections and so inspirational. And it's no surprise that its title is, Feeling Stronger Every Day.
You barely scratched the surface of this amazing band. 25 or 6 to 4, and If You Leave Me Now, are you must next songs.
You need to hear these guys do "Colour My World!" One of the great love songs of the '70's.
This group is very musically talented
Okay girl you got to do two more. 25 or 6 to 4, and make me smile!!!!!!! 💕
Plenty of Chicago to check out
As well as Peter Cetera ( member of Chicago) solo and duet stuff
Indeed!
Any Terry Kath era Chicago/CTA is a hit. First Album Indroduction. Chicago Transit Authority.
You should also check out the studio version from Chicago V. It reached #3 in the U.S.
One of the greatest bands of all time. Please react to more. Also react to Peter Cetera. He was one of the singers that went solo.
More Chicago pls. It's a happy place for me lol
Check out Todd Rundgren. He's a legend! You would love "Hello, It's Me."
Also check out David Essex "Rock On" and Lou Reed "Walk On the Wild Side."
Britt rules!
So many great uplifting songs by Chicago. Top Tier band. Should try "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" Great weekend song. Also try Supertramp "The Logical Song"
Dialogue Part 1 and 2 from the same album. A must....Saturday in the Park was a big hit in summer 1972. "Saturday in the Park" is a song written by Robert Lamm and recorded by the group Chicago for their 1972 album Chicago V. It was very successful upon release, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and became the band's highest-charting single at the time, helping lift the album to No. 1.
The Bluest Blues by Alvin Lee or Still Got The Blues by Gary Moore 💙
This was back in the days before the synthesizer destroyed back-up instrumentals. You hardly ever hear horn sections or actual pianos in songs any more. Even back-up vocals are often created with multiple tracks of the singer (lead singer in a group).
Britt. Top 70s band our high school jazz band and pep band for basketball would play. Learned to play drums to Chicago. 💛 I would suggest another 70's band to react to. Doobie Brothers. Any song! Epic!!
They have done tons of good songs. I especially like the albums produced by David Foster in the 1980s like Chicago 17, their biggest selling, multi-platinum album with my favourite song of theirs, Stay the night.
David Foster kinda took them a different direction that at the time they liked, but they are not so fond of now.
Well, one does not know if one does not try @@LS-wn5cd Maybe one will like it, just like Chicago did themselves once upon a time. The band is not the same today (different personell).
I remember they had just hit after hit after hit.. Songs for good times...
Songs for bad times...
Songs for bed time...
🤷♂️Even something in a movie... The Karate Kid 3. Maybe.. 🤣 It was years ago and I my was a kid. My poor brain...
"25 or 6 to 4" is one of my faves from Chicago.✨ Staying up all night just trying to write a song, folks, and here it is: czcams.com/video/iUAYeN3Rp2E/video.html✌
Chicago's "Trumpet Sound" was a Blending of a Trumpet and Trombone. It's one of the Hallmarks of their Songs.
Oh my...dear Britt, if you are not familiar with Chicago, please do a reaction video to their "25 or 6 to 4" They spent their early years opening for Jimmy Hendrix and Jimmy once said Chicago's lead guitarist, Terry Kath (he died from a gun accident early on) was better than he was. "25 or 6 to 4" displays his amazing guitar talents well.
"Groovy" is a perfect word. Chicago is a lot of fun, and have a huge repertoire for you! I recommend You're the Inspiration, 25 or 6 to 4 (lyrics for this one!), Hard to Say I'm Sorry, Hard Habit to Break, too many to list. I'm sure others have more suggestions.
They been around 1968 there are 12 other songs
Original name of group Chicago Transit Authority, but the real CTA forced them to change
It. Try Blood Sweat and Tears next
Check out another one of their awesome songs No Tell Lover. It's sexy good!♥️✌️
Love Chicago!! You should try Three Dog Night - The Show Must Go On
Here's a tip: react to "Wake up everybody" by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes (featuring Teddy Pendergrass).
If you need another "Saturday" song, check out "On My Way to Saturday" by Harry Belafonte.
I feel that if you're going to dive into Chicago your should start with the song "Introduction" it highlights the entire band and shows what they were about back in the 70's.
This is from Chicago II, which I regard as the best album in their catalog! So many great hit singles on that album! Almost one whole side of the first LP (vinyl!) was a string of songs called Ballet for a Girl from Buchannan , which I think includes this song. It was a two LP set back in the day. Good memories! Robert Palmer wrote most of the songs.
The song is from Chicago V and was written by Robert Lamm
@@deanmarks2561 Thanks! You're right on the correction of Robert Lamm's name... my goof. It was indeed Chicago II though. That's my all-time favorite Chicago album. I wonder if they re-released it on V? I don't think I ever bought that one. My brother has every album. Color My World and 25 or 6 to 4 and a host of other hits are also on C - II. Cheers!
Please react to Hard habit to break! My favorite Chicago song🎶😁🎶
I saw them in Hamilton Ontario in 1969
that’s awesome! must have been a great concert!
You’re gonna need a bigger boat when you decide to deep dive CHICAGO💕
You so cute saying Who is Chicago, just one of the greatest rock bands ever!!!!!!
haha I have learned !
Check out 24 or 6 to 4. There guitarist the late terry kath was one of the best at the time. Such a tragedy how he supposedly died by accidentally shooting him self. The band was never the same after that they turned into a power ballad band. Not the electric hit maker before Terry's death
All there early songs was great. Check out
Is he the third great great singer in this band?😊
Hey, I'm from 1973
I love your reactions, can't wait for you to discover Tesla.
