The thing is, the shipper in the video has exhausted 50% of the space on the outside of their property by filling it with merchandise. When by their own policy the back of the store is our delivery loading and unloading area. It is supposed to be left clear and free of anything that isn't supposed to be getting loaded. That's their policy! When the back of the store filled up with product including the delivery area, I came up with alternative parking area which is around the corner from the backside of the building as a compromise to them "being short staffed" and having to much product being the building. Now beyond that is the parking lot and then the far side of the store is the dryvan dock receiving area and garden. They exhausted OUR solutions. I already knew they were going to try to escalate because when I called dispatch and told them that there was no room to get loaded dispatch called the store and asked what was going on to which then they got the reply that the delivery guy(me) was lying! Considering we are supposed to have adequate space on both sides to get loaded at the same time and their lack of staff means nothing to us. This company literally paid employees to stay home if they chose to be. That's why they were understaffed during the time masks were in full effect

Yeah but the point is your creating the problem here. The manager was
Clearly being honest and working with you.. cmon man as per policy hahaha thats in a perfect world and you've been here long enough to realize were nothing but that.
You're literally out there everyday thinking everything you do is perfect and you just look to cause problems.
      You break rules and
      Policy sometimes guaranteed

      @Professional_Youtube_Commenter Před rokem +5

yes, understood. so that's their proble and nothign to do with you, just because they didnt follow their policy does not mean you can be an ass and make it difficult to load your truck. You're acting like you're the CEO of their business and mad at them for not following protocol. Get over yourself - you're just a delivery driver you just get paid to pick up and drop off goods (as you always say to customers when they have problems with orders).

The contention between drivers and the store... Glad I don't deal with that shit anymore. You can tell the employees and even managers are dying and you're giving them grief on top of all the nonsense dealing with customers and corporate that goes on within the walls. They don't have much control at all over the product that comes to their building and given the amount of crap sitting outside it's likely that they're designated as a primary fulfillment location which makes it even worse. They've been cursed with a smaller drive too, should be able to fit 4 bunks of wood and still have room before they hit the line plus the drive wide enough to unload a truck from both sides. Give them some grace and yourself too. Some nameless corporate guys and divisional folks who're pulling $200k+ a year are signing off on these decisions that make everyone's job harder.

@396375a, but that's part of the problem! The disgusting thing is that it's in near everything. Just the lack of care and concern. It's as if nothing really matters so long as "some amount of $$$ is being made"... I remember all of being escorted out of an office for suggesting that I look for methods of improvement in how things operate, efficiency which cuts waste and costs, morale of employees which affects the quality of products/services and customer satisfaction. None of these things seemed to matter so long as, "WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW WORKS!!!" It didn't matter that it didn't work well, that it didn't benefit everyone and there was no initiative to strive for better than "just status quo".
I've never worked in the delivery business but had a family member who did. It was a hell of a mess whether he was making local deliveries day-to-day, courier or traveling across the country with various product loads.
As for this store, I couldn't believe there was such a small area for staging of merchandise to be loaded/unloaded. I mean that small drive looked like the service area of an average strip mall here. All you'd find back there is a line of employee parking spaces and the dumpsters... Unbelievable that this was nearly the equivalent.

But at the same time, how is it the store's fault that customer deliveries get delayed for one reason or another or the store just gets slammed with a number of delivery requests and there is no way to clear out all the stock before more delivery requests are made.
If this store is in a high construction area, they need separate lot just to stage the outgoing deliveries. This back area probably should be just for delivery of new product, not for outgoing orders.

The driver is being a bit confrontational. In truth, Home Depot isn't going anywhere. They have deep pockets, and despite the Class A driver shortages, he can be replaced. The fastest way to being bumped from the property (for good) will be more discussion about liability. Managers are not going to debate you about liability in the back parking lot. Be a partner; not an adversary. Yes, it works both ways but clearly they are doing about the best they can. I'm sure the store is not staffed with tons of people and the back lot is clearly tight on space. Be part of the solution; not fuel the problem. My two cents.

@@SaffordDelivery I’ve watched the video a couple of times now and I do feel you were being argumentative for the sake of it. It seemed like the store employee was trying to accommodate you to the best he was able to. It sucks for him just as much as it sucks for you the driver, I can assure you of that. I say all that for a few reasons… it seems you’re upset about parking on the side of the building but you also say it’s okay with you. You wanted things to be staged on the side of the building if that were you were going to be loaded. While that seems like a reasonable request logically, that will never happen practically. That’s just the nature of the beast that is retail management. You also seemed to be upset about being loaded in a timely manner, but you were being loaded actively, and i didn’t get the impression you had to wait an overly long time for loading to start. As for the way things are loaded on your truck, you’re the driver, you make the call to accept it or not. That I agree with. However if you say no, and they turn around and also say no that’s not how we do it then they’ll just have someone else do it. You can’t dictate anything beyond the sides of your truck. Ultimately I think the dude at the store is in a crappy situation and trying to do what he can. You were being a bit of a ken at times, which I don’t judge you for we all have those days. I just feel you could have done better with the interaction. The employee probably tried at first but real quick realized you just were just gonna be that guy and ended up with I don’t get paid enough to care anymore about this.

Worst case scenario 6:00 a.m. the morning of the day that the orders are supposed to go out. Not including the date or weeks in advance the customer places the order. We have hours of operation between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and on any given day there are orders that aren't ready and then we are required to wait 29 minutes plus 1 minute per pallet space that is reserved. So it's a hurry up and wait kind of game. Each store delay does not pay us anything worth being called "detention pay" And they still expect us to go to other locations and pick up their orders and deliver in a timely manner Even with the order readiness at the previous location not being 100%. We are also required to give each location a half an hour call ahead prior to arrival and then when we show up that's when they want to start looking for orders and figuring the things out not counting the time that it took for us to drive and waste our fuel to go all the way there for nothing to be ready. THIS is only the surface. "Efficiency expert" We need a full detailed report. We will wait.

What do you expect the driver to do he was working with the lazy Home Depot staff

I work for lowes and they make it a point to have the back of the store cleaned up . That store in the video is a hot mess and he should blame himself for not getting it picked up .

I know this may be a super late response but whatever. I work at Home Depot out in the garden section. Our store and our back lots are super small and makes unloading trucks a nightmare with those forklifts. The managers make sure that there is a clear path through the unloading zones in order for everything to go smoothly. Unfortunately here, this is most likely due to the terrible management at this store. There is plenty of room to load and unload trucks if it wasn't for the merch laying all over the lot. There is no organization anywhere which is clearly an issue here.

The Depot has forklifts doesn’t matter where you put the load for now as long as it’s not blocking the truck going and coming.

First video where the driver was unreasonable. Started with attitude out the gate... I thought you tried to accomodate as much as possible? Wouldn't even pull the truck up.... Again, came at their random forklift driver with attitude. Could be polite and reasonable.. You're confrontational and emotional....

That was the manager, you would know that if you paid attention to the conversation. He was not unreasonable, the manager obviously was in to wrong for all of this. Hence why the driver did NOT get into any trouble. Again, pay attention to the entire video before you comment... you must be the Home Depot manager that was not keeping the area organized.

I’ve seen many of this guys video where he acts the exact same way very emotional, and does not try to help people or go the tiniest bit out of his way to accommodate. He’s very entitled.

@@paule1624 Yea, he has an excuse for almost everything when he doesnt want to do something to help out. Cant even follow Home Depot instructions on where to park, and makes a box truck drive on the curb around him in this video. He should have just gone to the correct loading zone and let the workers figure it out if there was a problem. It would be like him dropping it a block down the street from the right curb when he always says, "Its curbside only!"
