Scriptures from 1 Corinthians 14 concerning tongues
”Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.“
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When the Holy Spirit made or inspired the writings in scripture the word was in languages clearly readerable. I'm waiting for the day when the word would be written in bla bla osh rrr(whatever), and read. The greatest confusion this will cause. What happened during the building of the tower of babel will be considered small.

Speaking of the seven last plagues no one can tell you how long that will be. We know that it will be a short time. Revelation 18:8 Say one day, but then in revelation 18:10 it says in one hour. So I need to understand this as not a day is equal to a year but as a short time. The Bible doesn’t really say how long it will be. We know this to be true because this is in a time period when there is no more prophetic time. So they will not be equal to a year. And an hour would not be equal to a day. It simply means the plagues will last a very short time. Hope this helps…

    • @davidstarr6604
      @davidstarr6604 Před 6 měsíci

It is NOT a prophetic timeline though consisting of multiple days/years. No timeline extends past 1844.
Rev 18:8 shows one prophetic day (hēmera in the original Greek) for the 7 last plagues. Verse 10 hour is "ōra" (time), same word translated "hour" in Rev 14:7. Both Rev 14:7 and 18:10 talks about judgement coming in one "ōra". 18:8 is a "day" for the 7 last plagues. The hour/time of the judgement comes first then the day/year of the plagues. Maybe Isa 34:8, 61:2 and 63:4 will help you to understand it still uses the day/year principle here.
The 7 last plagues are slated to last for a full year but Jesus promises (Matt 24:22) that those days will be shortened else no flesh would be saved. So I would guesstimate a little under one year (like 11 months). But that's just a guess. Could be 10 months, could be 11 months, 29 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes.......

if the Lord has made anything abundantly clear in the Bible, it's that the end time is an appointed amount of time
Dan 8:19-25 for at the time appointed the end shall be
and that in that appointed time the beast shall be given power to continue - until(2 Thes 2:2-12, Rev 19:7-21, Dan 11:40-45)

Rev 6:12-17 the sun became black as sackcloth of hair
Amos 8:11-12 I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord
and the church shall not reflect His light
Matt 24:13-14 this gospel.. shall be preached in all the world.. and then shall the end come
Dan 12:7 when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people
Rev 11:7-15 And when they shall have finished their testimony(Nisan 2024 to Tishri 2027 ???)
Dan 7:24-27 and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time
Jer 25:10-13 I will bring upon that land all my words
Rev 17:12-17 until the words of God shall be fulfilled
Rev 18:23 the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee
Matt 25:1-13 go ye rather to them that sell(Rev 13:17) and buy for yourselves(Pro 23:23)
they shall stand up against the Prince of princes
Dan 8:19-25 he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes
Rev 17:12-17 These shall make war with the Lamb
Rev 13:11-18 and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast(Rev 13:5)
Rev 14:8-12 If any man worship the beast and his image... Here is the patience of the saints
John 3:16-21 And this is the condemnation
immediately after a great tribulation, possibly first coming upon Jerusalem
Rev 9:12-21 to slay the third part of men
Luke 21:18-28 when you see Jerusalem compassed with armies... Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until
Rev 11:2 and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months
Zech 14:1-4 I shall gather all nations against Jerusalem
Matt 24:21 & 29 Immediately after the tribulation.. shall the sun be darkened
Mark 13:13-27 after that tribulation... the moon shall not give her light

You Doug, are just another who believe Christ rose on SUNday because Mary went to the tomb "EARLY" on that day. That does NOT mean Christ ROSE on that day! Christ had to have risen way before Mary got 'news' of His rising and would have been at least 40 minutes to even hours from when the Roman soldiers left that tomb in fear! By the time these soldiers got back to Fort Antonia (Which ppl still yet think is the 'temple mount') no one knew that Christ had yet risen! Follow the time line back to when Christ actually ROSE - ! By the time these soldiers told their superiors and those 'superiors' figured out what to do, it was indeed Sunday BUT ... I'll ask any TRUE CHRISTIANS (Not these small 'c' christians) what other day than the LORD'S SABBATH WOULD GOD HAVE HIS SON RISE?

    • @davidstarr6604
      @davidstarr6604 Před 6 měsíci +6

Matt 28:1-4 - It was already the 1st day of the week (AFTER the Sabbath was over) when the angel came to roll away the stone and the keepers became as dead men. And of course there is Mark 16:9 - specifically stating He rose on the 1st day of the week.
So many people seem to forget that back then a new day started at sunset NOT midnight....
Quote - "what other day than the LORD'S SABBATH WOULD GOD HAVE HIS SON RISE?" - Unquote. A human question requiring human assumptions to answer. Do you know the mind of God? The only TRUE answer is: Whichever day God chooses for His Son to rise is the day He will rise. With the added statement that this is no evidence of a change in the 7th day Sabbath either.

it's exactly what the bible says....
1Co 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
1Co 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
1Co 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
so basically you're saying you don't believe this...
Don't twist the WORD to suit yourself. Only your pride and ego stop you beliving in tongues. Great is the mystery of Godliness..... You think you understand Him, because people mutter and speak a language you don't understand?? crazy....

@@davidstarr6604 I have thank you. Maybe you need to get out your pride and read it for what it says... Doug literally said agaisnt this chapter. He missed these ones I posted lol.... and yes, if you read them verses, it is telling you when with people, you don't do it in front of them, why..... Because they don't undrestand. Does that sound familar??? Clealry noone understands. When you do it ALONE, you will see.... But you need to swallow your pride and ego first. Have you even tried, or are you just like, "that's silly"?? If you are, that's pride my friend, and it isn't speaking in tongues that goes before destruction, but pride....... It is to edify oneself.... Why wouldn't you want this? (if it is true). The idea is, you don't just go into church and start speaking in tongues, unless there are people there that can interepet it. However, when in your private place, with YAH, ( if you even know what that is), you can edify yourself IN prayer. Have you ever sat there for hours with not being able to speak but just crying and such? Have you ever even tried it? If no, then how can you ever have the experienece, the knowledge or the wisdom to know if it is even true or not??? YAH bless you. HalleluYAH ❤🙏

@@One4YAH You're talking about speaking in an unknown tongue. Not actually "speaking IN tongues" Acts 2:1-12 is speaking IN tongues.
Speaking in an unknown tongue is more along the lines of Rom 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." which also specifically states that we cannot utter such things.
Babbling incoherently, not even knowing what you are actually saying to God? Not quite my idea of an intelligent communication.
The word "edify" means "to instruct and improve especially in moral and religious knowledge". So how to you "instruct or improve" yourself if you don't even know what you are saying to begin with? What moral or religious knowledge is gained without the understanding?
