  • East Kilbride - The People's Story is a Heritage Lottery funded project to record through people's memories and personal artefacts the history and development of East Kilbride New Town from its inception in the post war years to the modern day.
    It offers a unique opportunity to record the birth and growth to maturity of an entire community.

    I remember John Wright when I was very young ,living on west mains road .. my family were McShane ,well known as there were so many of them who lived in the village and worked at The Rolls Royce ...lovely video

    My son and myself came along to Ballerup Hall to see the old photos of East Kilbride and it was pretty good overall the ladies from the Library where great the archive material they brought was great to look through and the other items on display where ok,one thing i did miss about this was i thought there would be a talk from someone discussing EKs past,but only an opening talk from the Provest...but l'm glad i went

    east kilbride is a tip, poorly maintained roads, poorly maintained houses, take a look at greenhills these large estates being built with no ammenities especially for the young,why must these houses be so large taking up prime sites ,we need starter homes for our young and more council run properties.the road infrastructure has not been altered or improved to carry the traffic now going out and coming into east kilbride.

    GREAT idea however I object to the inclusion of 'ego' - people featured in the Council mural!
