This is one of the more detailed videos I found for this. Thank you so much for taking your time going through what I need to do! Thanks! Even though I don’t have a Grand Marquis, I have a Crown Vic Police Interceptor and it’s fairly similar if not identical for most things, and still helps!

As commented, got directed here looking on a vid 2 change the comp on my '04. Sub'd.
Diagnosing a possible crank sensor, I remember-take the belt off, 3 bolts to remove the compressor, then 1 bolt for tbe sensoor on my 1st a '98 (a '97 Crown Vic between them). Obviously a lot more involved than simply removing the compressor- literally, and the accumulator/dryer.

Also, surviving the arson of my home in '18, are a pair of Mustang GT 4.6 heads...but need new cams and rebuilt due to fire-fighting water-caused rust. New TTY head bolts, gaskets, heater tube and seal under the intake, and GT intake lost. Was going to go on my Crown Vic. So, someday, use these heads. The '02-up has my preferred coil on plug, the previous coil pacs, but the older a higher compression ratio11.00:1, requiring premium, and, w/ headers making around the same hp as a Maurader 4 cam. Then add 3.73's.

If I'm hearing a squealing noise from the pulley. Only when I turn the AC on, would that mean a faulty pulley, bearing, or compressor? And is it possible to just replace the pulley without replacing the compressor?

Yo - Jesse besides the VDP I have a 99 Grand Marquis ! I was jumping another car off of it for about 10 minutes and the wiring loom started smoking from maybe the tranny ? I can’t see where the smoke is coming from but it’s as if someone is under the car sparking a Marlboro ! Guessing I should start pulling fuses until the smoke stops ?

That would be a no. Not without damaging the line. Unless you can find something that fits EXACTLY. Quick disconnects aren't expensive.

Just don't do it. I suggest no one try this themselves. The reason is when you try to install the new compressor, you can not hold it in place while replacing the long compressor bolts because it is too heavy. You cant get a jack up under there because the lines are in teh way. There are metal fluid lines that are in the way of one of the bolts and you cant get to the compressor bolt to get it seated and tighten it.. You can set them in place when the compressor is out of the pocket area , but when you start wiggling it in, the bolts fall out, and you have to take the thing out or move it clear to re-insert the bolts. , and you dont have enough leverage or hands to do this. Electric lines and hard metal steering fluid lines are placed directly over where you need to hold the bolt. You also just cant do one bolt and tighten and insert the next one because you cant access the angle, the frame is in the way. . If you put the bolts through the compressor first nad move it in place, the bolts start falling out on the ground. This happened to me about 50 times, and you can barely hold on ein place to start turning it. I got one bolt in an started tightening down, but then there's no clearance to insert the others. . After about four hours , I gave up, had it towed to a shop.
