This just looks like a live action adaptation of an anime if the anime never existed.
I thought it was based on an anime at first
I think Bill Skarsgard would have made a good Feyd Raytha in Dune but Austin Butler did a great job.
His dad is in the movie. Lol
Seriously. Austin even put on a pseudo Scandinavian accent to mimic Stellan.
Side note: I'd also have been down if Jeffrey Donovan was cast as the ghoul in fallout, even though Goggins was fantastic.
I'm Swedish and I actually thought it was Bill first xD
He was in the final list of actors actually. Butler must have inched over for the role
I thought it was Bill
The third act of the film is the most flagrant rehashing of The Raid weâve seen yet lol.
I have no problem with this.
They skipped the badass hallway scene though it was a blink and heâs killed everyone đą
Especially the end fight.
Reminds me more of hardvore henry. Its all about the action scenes but then they hit on the head in the 3rd and final act where the plot really comes together. Also the shaman is an amazing martial artist and i loved that they hire him for this role. He was amazing in the raid redemption
I went into this movie not knowing a single thing. What a fun ride! Really good combat cinematography. A good blend of silly and brutal.
"10:30am barely anybody in the theater" đđ AJ really that delusional, not all of us have a hard job as reviewers đđ
Lol yeah dude was out of touch with that one.
It's the weekend no? Or did they watch this during the week?
â@DarksouIjah they said Friday.
@@Blue64 Ahhh then disregard. lol
I went to a showing at 5pm and was the only one so not that far off.
A sequel to a fight from The Raid Redemption that I never expected
Yayan "Mad Dog" Ruhian was in the cast, he probably got something to do with it.
yeah that scene was super reminiscent of the 2v1 fight scene
@@ServantBerserkerZero The fight choreography/action design was done by Dawid Szatarski (as it says in the credits), he's a Polish/German fight choreographer who initially played Boy's character in the proof of concept trailer he made with the director to get the funding for this. He also plays the henchman that refuses to die in the first warehouse fight, the one that ripped the arm off, the end fight sequence as well as that fight were said to be even longer by him, but he was thankful for what still made the cut, which as a lifelong fan of martial arts action movies I can tell you is high praise, cause usually all the prevized action the fight choreographers make in pre-production get chopped or discarded by a significant margin in post.
Imagine if Bill Skargard gets cast as The Punisher he'll have 3 revenge movies back to back
Pennywise is kinda on a revenge quest in It Chapter II too. đ
Don't you fucking dare
didnt know i wanted this but i do.
Looks like an anime/manga come to life, plenty of those pure revenge stories out there
Exactly. It's nuts.
Right? Idk why, but I lvoe bloody revenge animes/movies/games. Too bad some people find them edgy and cringe.
The fight choreography/action design was done by Dawid Szatarski (as it says in the credits), he's a Polish/German fight choreographer who initially played Boy's character in the proof of concept trailer he made with the director to get the funding for this (available on CZcams to see actually). He also plays the henchman, Dawe, that refuses to die in the first warehouse fight, the one that ripped his own arm off. The end fight sequence as well as that fight were said to be even longer by him, but he was thankful for what still made the cut, which as a lifelong fan of martial arts action movies I can tell you is high praise, cause usually all the pre-vized action the fight choreographers make in pre-production get chopped or discarded by a SIGNIFICANT margin in post.
the choreography was really bad
I thought this was a horror or an action movie based on Boy Meets World
They should have named this movie "IT 3: Revenge of Pennywise". On the other hand It's a bit ironic seeing him in a fighting role considering in John Wick he was all talk. They could have made a good fight with the Marquis.
I think he played that role excellent since he was portraying a younger generation taking over an older, experienced generation but failing.
I think you're trying to typecast him into a role.
@@gunargundarson1626 You are worried about being typecast in an one dimensional movie? I would say the typecasting already happened considering almost every single John Wick movie has an unskilled pushover for a main villain pulling all the strings. The first film is about the only one from the series that actually has any "acting range" to it. Viggo at least tried to fight back.
The third act was amazing. It reminded me of the raid. It was so brutal and violent. Wow!
The second act has this amazing fight scene with a cheese grater. So awesome and VIOLENT.
It's very well done.
I agree with Joe. It will be a cult classic.
Just saw this film this afternoon. I had a blast watching this.
Funnily enough, John Wick wasnât the first thing that came to mind. No, Hardcore Henry & Crank came immediately to mind, because like those flicks, BKW has hyper kinetic gory action, ridiculous OTT characters, a stylized pulpy aesthetic that follows video game sensibilities and it doesnât ever take itself that seriously because it knows exactly what it is.
First thing I thought about was Crank and Shoot Em up.
Two other films about vengeance that are non stop action rides that are B grade but have tons of stunts and effects to spare.
They all 3 also act as dark comedies.
Also (could be wrong for Shoot Em up) they are all funded by Lionsgate.
Made me think of Riki-Oh and Old Boy.
Made me think of The Raid.
"Crow" gives the "Black Veiled Brides meet Kiss" vibes.
8:00 Yes Joe. We do remember Ultraviolet. And yes that movie was trash. Milla Jovovich gets way too much credit for playing in terrible movies
I liked it
I hope you get better from the gay
â@Redact63Lluks making it sound like gay is bad in 2024 dude bro you living way in the past
@@vidmasterK1 you play Cyberpunk 2077, I'll stick with Fallout
With the screenplay written by the guy who wrote the stories for Alan wake, control, and quantum break, all I need to tell yâall is itâs a movie for gamers. Enjoy the ride itâs a total blast!
Agree! It's like Scott Pilgrim meets the Raid.
@@Archangel0582 exactly Scott pilgrims a great comparison they both translate that video game quirkiness and it was so great to see Mad Dog from the Raid as the shaman.
Joe should watch all the short traliers for LongLegs
Bill could play the perfect zombie with his pallid complexion, large sunken eyes and slim buildđ
It's not that everything soo fking expensive now of days ppl barely making a living reason why theaters are dieing out ppl can't afford it nomore
Joe are you ever going to address how every time you do a AJS News episode everyone in the comments asks you to add timestamps?
Why would he when thereâs someone that *always* does it for him, for free? Itâs the Bethesda approach.
Iâll address the fact that a normal human does not care about time stamps.
â@@ImaRush Why? It makes life easier.
Maybe they want you to watch the whole video?
@@edifier107yup. Why the heck would Joe add something that would decrease watch time? Some people just donât have the mental capacity for critical thinking.
Something about the trailer really reminded me of Boss Level. Which actually was a fun film.
I remember Ultraviolet, but I think you where thinking of Eon Flux. đ
I think the other Skarsgard brother played a deaf & mute character in a Netflix sci-fi show too. With current showing options I'd go: 'Abigail', 'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare', then 'Monkey Man' &/or 'Boy Kills World'.
Yeah I remember that. Ant man was the "bad guy" in that one right?
@chadwickmccarty4944âââ ââ ââ @@cardassa yes and yes to both Alexander Skarsgard and itâs called Mute in 2018 on Netflix
i saw abigail and if you've seen the trailer you pretty much saw the entire movie. i can even guess which characters die in the correct order. seriously, whoever edited that trailer need to get fired asap.
Paul Rudd!! That was his name. Wow, took me days to get that name lol.
Joe I remember Ultraviolet đ
movie title should have been Bill kill
Little on the kiddie side, as far as dialogue.
Still give it 2.5 out of 4 stars.
"Kill Kid"
I donât know what next movie Iâm looking forward to after seeing The First Omen and Abigail which are two of my favorite horrors currently. But thanks for the review on this movie
Joe, take Other Joeâs 25 lb dumbell or Alexâs and curl it 10 times on each arm every day for a start⊠you can do it.
More like kill Bill than John Wick (no pun intended)
More like Boss Level than Kill Bill đ
Actually neither!
If you have seen The Raid, and The Raid 2.
You'd understand.
Coincidentally, the Shaman is the main villain in The Raid.
Still think The Raid 1 and 2 blows this one WAAAY out of the water.
More serious and guts.
@@nWoPorViDa âout of the waterâ⊠but good to know đ
@@brando3342
Thank you for the correction sir.
Always trying to improve myself.
@@nWoPorViDa No problem! And that's a good attitude to have, God bless đ
The closest I will ever get to a live action Archer movie. Letâs go. đ
I saw one commercial during the Lakers Nuggets game. It looked fun but it just looked like a bomb
I really enjoyed this today. Pleased to see you guys seemed to like it. Most reviewers I've otherwise seen seem to be making a strong effort to pan this one. I liked a lot of this movie, aside from just a few things!
So scott pilgram vs the world ultra violent edition.
Ultraviolet was a guilty pleasure of mine as a kid
I feels bad for you now. ?;- )
George Of The Jungle â€ïž
Cherry 2000 đ
Bill skarsgard is getitng ready foe The Crow
A plot hole I noticed. Nobody not the citizens or the soldiers noticed the missing prince walking around town.
Not to mention that the end completely undermines his motivation for revenge. It makes the entire movie pointless.
Honestly he looked way different with long hair
Another one on the note. His sister has a change of heart when he does the five middle fingers. So that comes from a memory of him and his sister flipping off their mother???
@@RayJenks you were never angry at your parents when you were a child?
He was only a kid, so I gather that his exposure to the public may have been limited enough that a lot of people wouldn't remember what he looked like.
Are you guys gonna do Abigale?
I wish you guys would have reviewed Abigail. I really enjoyed that one
I don't know about the rest of you, but finding out that AJ was a theater kid made my day. This trio is so unique.
Let them speak!!!
The cheese grater fight was amazing.
amazing review guys, watched it till the end đ
I think.the little sister gives the movie a great sense of heart.and humour.
I straight up thought that was Cody Rhodes in the thumbnail for a sec.
Joe is upset he had to wake up before noon
As a night owl I feel the pain.
As soon as I saw Mad Dog (from The Raid) on the poster, I suddenly had an out of body experience and my butt was immediately in a theater seat.
joe REVIEW CHALLENGERS!!!
It's Sharlto Copley, it's an "L".
What if they made a 2nd movie called "Girl Saves World" and show the movie from the sister's prospective during the same time as this movie
I loved this movie. I watched it last night at my local drive in theatre. It felt like a kill bill/ john wick movie. Very entertaining. Great camera movement and fighting. Super unrealistic and over the topđ.
So its pretty much a hardcore henry ? I figured that...
I bought my tickets for Taro horror movie and the fall guy, now Iâm about to grab tickets for this movie as well.
I thought looking at the thumbnail that this was cody rhodes lol
I did too!!! LOL
I'd give it a 9, had a blast watching it! I knew what I was walking into with action scenes and martial arts, plot's simple yes but that's fine in it's own right too. A to B to C (beginning, middle and end) with a riot in the cast. Totally worth owning to have a fun time to watch.
if you think this movie is near perfect you have something wrong with your brain
Crow Prequel looks pretty dope...
I thought this review was for The Crow and kept rereading the title
I saw "ultraviolet" in cinema, I was the sole viewer, startweekend, primetime...đ
I thought the thumbnail was Cody rhodes
Was going to say the same thingđ
C'mon Joe, you should have gone to see the Alien re-release.
@ 26:29, It's "flipping," not "flicking." You flip the bird, it's flipping someone off, you don't flick..
Nice review .
Late night with the devil was underrated. Y'all should have reviewed that
That and Abigail flew under a lot of people's radars
@@501stfilms1 Abigail is good too
George Of The Jungle â€ïž
I found it overhyped. Abigail was a much better experience. Late Night wasnât scary and the effects were laughable. Easily the weakest of the shudder wide releases so far
@jeffn4836 it brought back that old-school movie feeling and was an enjoyable watch imo
The cheese greater scenđźđ
It doesn't come out here until next week, I've been waiting for The Fall Guy reviews because that's out here now, but every reviewer I watch is reviewing BKW instead. đ đą
10:40 am lol at a movie theatre..haha. well they all 1000% agree on everything again.. watch first 5 seconds you know the review
Does anyone know One movie or TV show that has a 1/10 from AJS? I cant remember....i can only remember 2's.
You are right it really does look like a live action video game!! đźđź
The Crowe trailer just made everyone really want him to do a Devil May Cry movie. He is the perfect Dante.
Bill skarsgard as Dante ? No
V maybe, not Dante
That would be perfect đ
Is he tho?
The perfect Ninja Theory Dante maybe.......
When I heard the va for Archer I was defs going to watch the movie
I think it reminds me a lot of words that kung fu hustle
Really enjoy these type of movies for example Hardcore Henry
Corey Mathews after Topanga left him
Lol Andrew Koji was in GI Joe how could yhey miss himđ
I'm actually excited to see this, it looks awesome
I just hated that hallway fight that also wasnt a hallway fight, i guess there were budget cuts or something
I don't get why it doesn't even have a release date in France.
Nowhere to be found... I just don't get why. I'm sure it'd be cool !
But it's not even planned a month from now !
Why haven't you guys reviewed Abigal yet? Pretty solid movie.
For me the third act or twist through me for a loop
The mother was literally batshit and the sister wasnât
My buddy and I were the only people in the theater
I'll watch it just for Archer
Just saw it. It reminds me of Scott Pilgrim and Dredd. Awesome production but will bomb at the box office sadly and will become a classic later
Yep
I liked the movie, but i hate when the "bad guys" are shooting down a hallway at the "good guys" with NO COVER and still miss every fucking shot.
To me Famke Janssen will always be first and foremost Xenia Onatopp and Jean Grey. Woof!
I didn't think she made sense as Jean grey
Famke Janssen makes my love sausage happy
Good for you Joe, I agree its an 8. Yea story isn't as strong as a John Wick or Kill Bill, but wasn't terrible. But the fighting, violence and gore is great.
I went into this one thinking I was in for your stock standard brainless action blood bath, what I got was a shockingly good blood bath with a decent narrative and some heart (and lots of laughs)
What happened to Del ?
Keep up the great work Joe!
Great review
Cant stop watching
16:04 Love it, so it's just about Joe's review đ a 6, 7 and 8 that would average out wouldnt it?
Joe are you guys going to review Knuckles?
Itâs terrible and maybe they will when itâs been out for a year like usual. They havenât even reviewed actual good shows like blue eyes samurai from last year so I doubt it.
Some of it was dumb, but i had a really good time with this one, it was tons of fun,
It had good humor, the action is almost nonstop, with some pauses to keep the story going, but it is all so interesting because of the unique world they built up around it,
Bill skarsguard did a awesome job, now I'm more hyped for the crow reboot,
They also showed a few good looking upcoming movies trailers, like a movie called-kill, that looks like the raid- on a train, an then one called cuckoo, that looks nuts. Lol
Lots of over-the-top violence and I loved it
This type of movie it kinda giving me the movie Hardcore Henry vibes. Except for this movie is in third person.
Does anyone know why Bill's character couldn't understand Benny in the movie?
He couldnât read Bennyâs lips because Benny had a beard.
@wilcee238 I thought the same too but the other characters also had beards
@@OABlogging Their beards weren't covering their lips though. Also Benny mumbled a lot.
"We're not IGN." Proceeds to give it an 8... Yeah okay Joe.
saw this twice with friends, it's a fun time, the trailers dont disguise what this is so if it doesn't look appealing there then it's probably not gonna be your thing, but if you liked movies like The Raid, and dont mind some over the top absurdity, then this movie is an absolute banger and i agree with joe's score.
Plz review Knuckles tv show and Challengers movie
don't think Challengers is their type of movie
@@gateofdestinywho know maybe they will love it
The sister character was so annoying throughout the whole movie. Just when youâre getting into it BAM, imaginary sister pops in to check you out of the film. Everything else I enjoyed quite a bit.
Looks more like Twisted Metal to me, the style of it.
I love John Wick has become its own genre lol
