What are your thoughts on the direction of modern remakes, particularly when it comes to altering character designs for 'body positivity'?
Watched the video, loved it.
Now for some comments on my part: (more like a rant, actually).
1. What's the deal with those eyebrows. Are those insipred by Eugene Levy and Might Guy Sensei? Geeez.
2. It's my business, and my money, if I want a sexy waifu on my games. I'm not gonna buy a product that doesn't catch my eye. And you can call me whatever name in the book that makes you feel happy, I'm not wasting my money.
3. Seeing how is gaming today, I'm oficially done with modern gaming. For the past few weeks I've been having a blast replaying New Vegas, and I'm willing to give another shot to those games I loved back in the Snes, Ps1, Ps2 and Ps3 era.
Okay, that's it. I guess.
I'm excited. Got my preorder ready. I hope they do sh1/3 next.

Games have come so far and now it's becoming a mess with agendas, and I believe they are destroying the dynamic of man and woman and the family unit. Video games are meant to be fun,to escape the real world and do things we can't do in reality. Now they are ruining the gaming culture with b.s. politics. The world is changing and for the worse as if they are trying to destroy what God has created.
Silent Hill is a psychological horror and I find it quite telling. They find it more important to change character design than actually telling a good story. It's proof enough. They're tone deaf to the gaming market. This game is DOA on arrival.
Not only did they change Angela's appearance, they also changed the appearance of the nurses. Avoid this remake like the plague and stick with the original!
@BlackMeraBun James looks like a cheap knockoff of Leon Kennedy, Angela has been stuffing her face at every fast food place and Maria has been attacked by the fashion police! Oh, and the female nurses now have shrunk chests! 🤣

It's simple, - don't buy their games. Support small developers. Indie studios etc. Money talks. When they see that it doesn't sell, maybe that will change their minds.

Same, but I've been waiting too long for the remake to give up on it now. It's a remake of one of my favorite horror games, and I need it.
I had little faith in this remake, first because Konami are a disgrace, and second because Bloober are an average developer at best. I still remainded hopeful, however, as several key members of the original team were onboard. But now that we know they hired DEI consultants and from what we have seen with how they butchered Angela, its a hard PASS for me. Look like Bloober Team just saved me $70 bucks. I truly hope this bombs like it deserves. And I have a hunch it will.

Bloober hired a consultancy firm to help with this game. Similar to Sweet Baby Inc. It's called Hit Detection.
The fact that the characters were hot was on purpose in the original. Even the nurses. It was part of James psyche.
Hopefully modders will quickly get to work fixing what Bloober did a bloob on.

I certainly hope that Konami forces Bloober Team to do a complete U-Turn with Angela's current design in the trailer and changes her model to be absolutely attractive and faithful to the original release of SH2 for the final product.

Fatness and ugliness are not an issue. Changing a game physically, while verbally stating you’re keeping it the same, is false advertising. The bad is currently outweighing the good.

Saw the trailer,, got excited, saw what Angela looked like, excitement completely gone.....Not buying.
when you have to edit how she actually look in the trailer, you know you already lost.
This is what gaming is now and realize that it will just get worse.
it was as close as they could get with basic metahuman settings. edit: side note I think the same reason so many generic looking actors are getting big gigs, because modern audiences (future) won't know quality, and makes it easier for AI replacement of actors and images if people are used to them or grow up with them, just sad for the futures version of nostalgia. at least we grew up with limitation of hardware, not talent or creativity.
I saw both the "Release Date" and "Extended Gameplay" trailers, and to be honest, I am a bit mixed. The only thing I kind of liked was the set designs and atmosphere somewhat, but everything else. It's clear they're trying the style of the recent "Resident Evil" remakes with the "Third Person" perspective, and if you ask me, I feels wrong for a "Silent Hill" game imo. I have, for a long time, had the "Silent Hill HD Collection" on my PS3. I never played it, an was considering trading it at local Game Store, but after seeing this, I having second thoughts.
You know what they've done? They used the same technology for The Medium and applied it to Silent Hill 2. She looks exactly like the main character from that game.
Lara Croft PS1 looks better than most female videogame characters nowadays.
the art work on silent hill is exactly what it's like driving through oregon at night time or early morning. foggy misty cool murkey, emptyness, hills.
I have canceled my preorder already. This is horrible, I hope most of the people refuse to play it at least those who remember the original and have nostalgia for it!
Missed opportunity : Yes, with miles...the giddiness is definitely missing! I came to a conclusion that the real artists and creators are missing...some empty headed Ai dependent robots, with no opinion, copying , doing scans and refining 3D models from those scans won't do the job...that's what they are trying to made us...a sheeple!

So after watching ur vid I couldn’t help myself and watch the trailer for myself. Now am I crazy or does it look like this character has 2 completely different faces?! One second she looks huge but a few seconds later in the same trailer she looks noticeably thinner. Maybe this was a trick of the angle from a different viewing position but I could’ve sworn that was a totally different character. For real gamers, did anyone else notice it?!

I was kinda hyped for this because i just got into the franchise. I bought part 2 and 4 for the og Xbox. Now im gonna avoid this remake and stick with the original.

To be fair, playing devils advocate here, She’s meant to be like 19 and looks a lot like the actual original art sketches now. I wouldn’t say she looks better but she doesn’t look terrible though.
As a general rule, I don’t even bother with remakes any more for this kinda reason, especially in today’s anti-this-or-that climate.
Do yourselves a favour and stick to the original, it’ll always be a far deeper experience.

alot of remakes never match the charm of the originals. super metroid, fzero. even golden eye n64 the remakes removed alot of the charm and atmospheric elements. also star wars shadows of the empire for n64 was a great game very atmospheric but the remakes were not as good. like the boss battle with the junkyard boss on the original games was one of hte scariest boss fights of all time, and the remake is meh took away alot of atmospheric element no longer scary gaming.

I like sexy women in video games as much as any guy, and I agree that we should be allowed to have sexy or just good looking women in video games, but I just don't think this is not the game to make this fight. The character of Angela is a 19 year old trauma victim running from her past of sexual abuse at the hands of her own father and brother, and all anymore is focused on is "she's not hot". She wasn't hot in the original game either, if anything she looks like a woman in her mid 30s when she was supposed to be 19. She was never Laura Croft or Jill Valentine. Maria is supposed to be the sexy character, it's part of the games plot.
She was supposed to look older in the original game. Just watch the Making of Silent Hill 2.

Silent Hill 2 Remake being woke is not the problem, the problem is this game looks awful and rough at the same time. Those visuals look like a PS3 and not today's standard graphics. I was hoping it be on par with Dead space Remake visuals but no. This game is DOA and woke is hardly the problem.

woman who was dealing with her own issues.
plus you gotta figure the people you come across is supposed to be
from James perspective, which means that can be taken in a variety of ways,
and the way she always looked to me, she looked like someone messed up on drugs.
I've seen the new trailer, and she looks about the same as she always did.
but there was nothing all that special about her,
however what made her character interesting isn't how she looked,
it was to show just how messed up James was. in her case it was her mom,
for James his wife, so everything that we know about this game is all there.
