- 29 Commando Royal Artillery are the gunners of 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines. These Commandos - from the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Marines - have a vital job alongside fellow green berets providing artillery support and gunnery observation.

Royal Marines Commandos are equivalent to your Navy Seal teams (except DEVGRU) not your marines corps. Royal Marines are classed as an elite unit. Only the US Marines are bog standard navy infantry.

@@intelligenthuman3262 Umm no, it takes 1.5 to 2 years to train a US Navy SEAL and their is very little overlap in missions sets/focus with Royal Commandos. US Marine infantry go through 6-7 months (3 months of basic and 3-4 months of SOI) of training before going to their units - once at their units, they receive additional advanced training (artic warfare, zodiac boat training, vehicle recon, etc). That's equivalent to Marine Commandos. Additionally, US Marines mission's and operations are very similar to Royal Commandos.
@@intelligenthuman3262 The US marines are more close to a standard infantry unit whereas the Royal Marines are closer to Special forces. The training is much harder and long in the Royal Marines. I'm not taking anything away from the US marines but you can't compare the two. Their training are vastly different in difficultly.
@@TheCCBoi No, you're wrong brother. US Marine Corps is a standard ass navy infantry unit and are not an elite force. Royal Marines Commandos are an elite unit and are separated into sub units who carry out different tier 2 spec ops commando operations which support the british special forces along side standard infantry missions. They are the elite of the elite bar special forces, they are literally 1 step down from the SBS and DEVGRU (Seal Team Six). USMC is a standard navy infantry unit. As for the training time it equates perfectly. In order to join the SBS (British DEVGRU equivalent) you must serve atleast 3 years in the armed forces prior to taking selection (most commonly marines). As for Navy seals its 2-3 years training however a civilian can join the tier 2 Seal teams. A civilian cannot join the SBS they must already be a trained elite military operator most commonly from the Royal Marines. Thats how it works

Make sure you’re comfortable with the entry level fitness requirements and the rest of your fitness will come naturally during the course. Most of it will be how you cope under pressure and stress. Everyone will be exhausted and also in pain, but it’s those that can detach body from mind and power through who ultimately succeed. I know some absolute fitness freaks who’ve failed the course and some utter chimneys who’ve passed it. If you’re able to pass the entry requirements then you’re already fit enough to do the course. The whole point of it is to build your fitness up over 8 months to the levels of an athlete. The commando tests come at the end.
