    I bought the stove in the plastic box over 8 years ago. It still works great and I think the main reason is it's stored in the plastic box. The pot support arms could get bent if rolling around in a pack. I've seen similar versions in the store, but no storage box. I just bought a second stove to keep in my truck bug-out pack. Good video review.

    I can't speak for the set. But the mini stove is great. I used it for 4 days on the AT. I saw others using more expensive stoves that were heavier and didn't include built in igniters. I used it with the stanley 2 cup cookset and tossed one of the thermo cups to make room for an eatntool, rag, and tea or you could use a 100ml gas can.

    I have this exact set. I love the pots. The stove works even if it isn’t the best. I like the stand and all handles have lasted several years. The cup is cool but it’s better to ditch it to fit the gas can. The utensils suck period. Good job.

    • @OscarHikes
      @OscarHikes  Před 3 lety +1

      Exactly my thoughts. Since publishing this video, I've updated the pot to the Toaks titanium pot, and the spork to the Lightmyfire titanium spork. I've saved some weight and they're much easier to use and of better quality. But honestly, I don't think that you really need them. The Toaks pot is 37$, and the spork is 19$. Now compare that to the whole Odoland set, which costs just 27$, and you can see that the minor quality improvements don't really outweigh the price. Unless you're using them quite often, or if you're rich, haha.

    The plastic legs for the canister from any manufacturer are a PIA to put on. All of them are fragile. I know because I have two of them. Wow, I don't know how far this young man hikes in a day because I see a 6 cup Moka Pot and an aluminum bottle, both increase the weight you carry. I ordered this set from EBay because of the case for the stove. I already have 6 stoves (I'm a gear freak), and 3 cooking sets. The stoves I have purchased over the years from the old Svea 123, to an MSR XGK, to a CampingGaz Bluet to a Soto Amicus and a Jetboil. The last two work just fine.

    The one thing that bothers me about the stove is the comparatively small spread of the arms which makes it very easy for a full pot to slide off and fall with very little shaking. You'd wish there was a metal attachment similar to the plastic one for the fuel can stabilizer that would unfold, snap on and more or less cradle the pot. Guess I'll have to make my own....

    I've Got Two Of These And I Find Them To Be Very Well Made For The Money...The Stove Could Be A Bit More Powerful But In All For My Campin Adventures Maybe 2-3 Overnighters...I Will Highly Recommend This To All On A Bugget...Great Deal...

  •  Před 3 lety +1

    I melted some of the plastic stuff off my pot's handle, but it's not a big deal, works fine. I did upgrade to a Jetboil, but will still use these to rehydrate food in them with water from the Jetboil.

    The big brands DO sell this exact set - I mentioned it in my latest video, that Vango and Gelert rebrand this pot and another cookset which I have (the pot with lid and frying pan) as theirs, but for all I can tell, it's the exact same.
    Maybe some QC, but that's what Amazon/ebay returns is for! And whereas the pot and pan I got was £7 on eBay, they sell theirs for £30-40+.

    Thank you so much because this was one of the ones I was comparing and wondered if it was any good. I already have a swiss army utensil thing where the fork and spoon detach and it also has a knife, bottle opener and can opener, and it's in a little felt bag so it doesn't scratch the inside of my dishes. And I have a silicone collabsible travel mug, it's a tad bulky tbh but it was the best model, and it doesn't leak when you knock it over if it's shut or the straw is in, so now I use that cup for everything.
    But my current cookset is the old stainless steel pots my family has had since I was a kid, and they have anging-handles, not side-handles, so they are hard to pick up and very very hard to pour from, and they aren't nonstick and a lot of these newer pots look like they have a nonstick coating, can you confirm if this is nonstick? And have you used it much since making this video? Thank you so much for the information though, especially about the stove, I was particularly attracted to this one coming with a stove included and even a protective case, but I know stoves can be finnicky and leak, so it's really good to know this is a promising set with a promising stove all in one.
