I'm sure Robert knows the difference. At least according to Wikipedia the band originally wanted to incorporate the Portuguese genre fado, but it didn't work for them so they went for flamenco instead
Also, although he says "blood of Christ" in the lyrics, the wine was originally called "Lágrima de Cristo" (Tear of Christ)

It's fascinating the listen to some British bands in the early 80´s be enamored of Spain and dabble with some Mediterranean sounds/themes in a few of their tracks. Just listen to some Orange Juice, Aztec Camera and even the Cure and you will see hints here and there.
