  • Hey Everyone! Today i install a product i really love on this nee F150 i just bought. They are called QuickCovers by OAM Manufacturing. These rockers and cab corners are slip on style. Cut out the rust as you would on a slip on metal rocker and slide these over. They go on, look great and fit great. You are the only one that will ever know they are on there because they fit so perfect. Hope you enjoy the video and this helps. Josh

    Nicely Done, excellent all the way around. I guess my concerns with these would be cracking either from your feet stepping in or out, or rocks/debris from the road, then the rust problem starts again. A major concern would be how these will keep water from seeping in, especially the front door panel at the aft of the door. A seam is facing up, usually you have something over the seam so water cant get into it, with these that seam is over the original metal between the doors. I dont see how the adhesive holds up, especially in areas with winters and freezing. #M makes great stuff but I cant see this holding up to heat, cold, freezing, flexing and such. Same for the bottom underneath where you put rivets. I dont see how this can be water proof. The plastic to old rustic metal frame is not perfect mating surfaces and adhesive being just a thin glue is not a filler. No disrespect to your excellent job and tutorial, I'd just be worried about water getting in in a year or possibly less. Perhaps theres is some sort of filler/bonding agent that can be put between t \he panels and the body? Great video thought, thanks.

    Looking at some 09-14 F150 SuperCabs from rusty places like Kansas and Nebraska and Missouri and they all have that rocker panel rust...but they're cheap...and I'm cheap...and THESE are cheap compared to say LMC metal ones...definitely gonna look into this option if I bring one of them back to Oklahoma, since it probably won't rust MORE once it's down here in the red dirt.

    What causes the cab corners and rockers to rust out is cargo light gasket leaks. The corners of the gasket tare when they are installed. The water runs down the pinch weld above the back window and puddles in the cab corners and rockers. Just remove the cargo light and put a 1/4 inch foam seal on the roof side and it will stop the water intrusion. 😅

      @Schneids15  Před 9 měsíci

    That's a shame it's already rusting being not that old. I've noticed on my 2012 it has spot's under the bottom lip on the edge of the cab where mud can build up. On mine I get under and pressure wash it really good every couple months, then I spray used oil in those area's. It's a dirty job but so far I don't have rust.

    Are people really doing this??? Your rocker panels are a structural component of your vehicle. Applying this thin plastic covering does indeed "hide" all the rust and rot issues but when you take it in for your annual safety inspection the mechanic looks at the rocker panels from behind and under this plastic covering and they will see that the rocker are indeed rotted and must be replaced! I can't believe that people actually think that adding a thin plastic covering will correct the lack of structural repair required for your vehicle. Are people that gullible ???? These videos on CZcams should have to disclose this type of disclaimer.
