Appreciate the help!
After I cover my rocker panels I am getting Rhino coating underneath. I am excited for this project!
I would skip the grease , load it up with cavity wax after cutting the rust out with a panel cutter on a air chisel or cut off wheel , as far as the tape i wonder if panel adhesive they put new cars together with would work better
That's pretty awesome but I don't see anything on the website for a 1995 GMC Sierra extended cab 2-door.
I think these are better as a guard for mint rockers
I'm buying a rear cab corner and making new rockers out of 24g. Just cut n weld em on, paint with rockguard
How I can found it something like that ??
Need these for the gmt800 suburban
Would this pass an inspection in Ontario, Canada?
Great video! I have an 09 F150. I know OAM make a cover for this. My question is, do the the Covers "cover" the underside of the rocker panel? Thanks!
They do reach to the underside and get riveted to the lower pinch weld. czcams.com/video/Z21XBisJzwA/video.html We offer a bracket kit for the Chevy trucks if the pinch weld is rusted out. czcams.com/video/hfVFIb6A3Eg/video.html
Can I get this for a 89 Chevy regular cab
Don't wanna buy a welder ... but think that plastic covers aren't rigid enough for rockers ??? Worried that the door jambs will collapse. I'm thinking new steel rockers , rivet and adhesive ?
did you get your fine from osha yet?
I wish you guys would make them rocker panels for an 06 Dodge Ram mega cab 2500.
We're a small company and while we'd like to offer more products, we have limitations. We released our newest product last month and have another new product in the works for next year. If you'd like you can submit a product request. It will help us to know what people want to see from us as we prepare for future releases of new products. oamusa.com/pages/product-requests
I want to see how bad the body line is at the top of the cab corner. That’s the only thing that deters me from buying them. How do you match that it? The top of the cab corner cover to the existing metal?
Hi Chris. If you email us at support@oamusa.com we can send you some photos to show that in detail.
Holy crap, sticker shock. Looks good though.
Rust has to be removed or it'll keep rusting.
quick question about the rivets. I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 and the underside of the rockers on both sides is pretty much gone. Meaning there is nothing left to rivet to. Would this still be a good solution to make my truck look better if I can't put in rivets?
Take it to a shop
@@austin6746 take it to a shop ? It’s a 04 silverado it’s not worth a body shop charging thousands of dollars in welding and body work to fix those rockers
That's where I'm at. Quick covers offers a solution to that too.
If the pinch weld is gone where the rivets are supposed to go, we offer a bracket kit:oamusa.com/collections/2007-2013-silverado-sierra-extended-cab-4-door/products/quick-brackets-1999-2006-silverado-sierra-extended-cab Video of the bracket installation: czcams.com/video/hfVFIb6A3Eg/video.html
The only real solution to that is to have to buy a new truck...cheap skate 😂😂
where can i buy a set of the plastic rocker panels for a 97 chevy silverado 3 door short box.
Unfortunately we don't offer them for that model. At this time, we don't yet have anything in the works for that generation of the Silverado.
I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban 2500, do you guys have a product for that? I need them for sure tired of looking at rust lol
Sorry, but we don't yet have anything for SUVs.
My car got hardly any rust could I still use these for preventing
Make sure you seal it good with sum oil to prevent rust. I use the military oil they use in frames. If not you will make them rust faster since water will get stuck under their
Went to a body shop yesterday got quoted 6 grand to fix rockers
might be able to buy a rust free truck body for the money
and switch out your drive train and other parts
They must 15 you coming.
That's too much
How far does the cab corner stick out from the body. I feel like it would look weird
The plastic is just over 1/16" thick or about 0.07", so it is not very noticeable. And because it goes up to the natural body line of the truck, it is not very noticeable unless you are looking for it.
Grease?!?! Would've never have guessed.
Do they have SUV inner and outers, also?
Have you had any luck
Greece and wax aren't going to do that much. Especially if it's still compromised, they're just going to sleep out.Gotta kill the rust , leave it there , but turn it to stone P o r fourteen brush kind , not the spray!
Is this fit on my 2002 gmc sierra 2500Hd crew car 6.6 please answer??
Quick Covers are available for your truck. See the parts available at the link: oamusa.com/collections/1999-2006-silverado-sierra-crew-cab
I think I would take a pressure washer.Take the plugs out and blast it out for quite sometime. Then put the muratic acid Stick out with the pressure washer then let it dry big time!! And then 3 guesses, the first 2 don't count.Put the POR to it, let that dry.It will turn to Stone, no more troubles.
Fricking rookie l o l
How fragile are the covers? After a year or more, have they cracked, faded or warped? Has the double-sided tape come loose?
Hi there! Great questions. Quick Covers are made of ABS plastic, a very durable material. They hold up to rocks, salty/icy conditions, car washes, etc. As long as they are painted properly, the plastic will not fade or warp in any way. Lastly, the tape is a 3M double-sided automotive-grade tape specifically designed for body work. In our years in business, we have not received a single complaint from customers about the tape failing.
I hope all this info helps!
Thanks,
Madison
where do you get these and do they have them for the 3 door 99 gmc sierra sle?
They used to make those I have a set sitting here that I'm just about to put on a 2000 3 door extended cab. To my knowledge they discontinued manufacture of them for the three door cabs.
We no longer make a cover for the 3 door models. Follow us on facebook @erzrustfix to or check out our website to request a product you'd like to see us make. oamusa.com/pages/product-requests
I think I’d take a cut off wheel to most of that rust
Same then prime it and paint
I agree with you cut all the rust spots out then rivet/glue the panels in place sure it will look "Frankenstein" "mad max" but better to have true metal then polished rust as the end result.
They didn’t cut any of the rust out?
Do they make quick covers for 2004 avalanche?...
Yes they do. I put some on my avalanche
Do they make these for the extended cab models?
Yes
We offer Quick Covers for the 99-06 GM 4-door extended cab trucks. See them on our website: oamusa.com/collections/slip-on-rocker-panels-and-cab-corner-covers/products/1999-2006-silverado-sierra-extended-cab-cab-rocker-cover-kit-4-door
I would use a two part epoxy to bond also, they look kind of flimsy then go ahead and hang your exhaust with a coat hanger.
I can’t find any for an 05 Yukon (non XL)
Hi Jay. We currently do not produce covers compatible with a Yukon. :/
Do have cab corner quick cover for 92 f150 ext. Cab
Maçarico ainda é o melhor
Spray the brush p o r in there with a weed sprayer if you have to through the holes
In the Uk, this truck would fail its annual inspection. This amount of corrosion would need to be cut out and new steel parts welded into place. Plastic just would not make the grade
You know you added that slow it down “AND STOP IT FROM SPREADING” you can’t stop it unless you cut all that rust off, and seal the bare metal
Will they fit a 97 extended cab?
Sorry, we don't currently have anything for that year. But you can request it or sign up for our newsletter on our website to find out when we release new products! oamusa.com/pages/product-requests
You have to have a super duty type cab. So a F150 does not fit.
I am having a HORRIBLE time trying to find the slip-on rocker covers for my 05 suburban. In your opinion, do you think these would fit?
W/ modification for the ends, of course.
Hi Chrystal. Our products are intricately designed to fit extremely close to the body of the vehicle, and installing covers on a vehicle other than the one intended would likely lead to poor fitment and other issues. Furthermore, we strongly discourage cutting or altering Quick Covers to try to get them to fit on vehicles other than we specify they will fit on. We do not currently offer a product for a Suburban.
Does the bed need to be removed from the cab to be able to reach the back end of the cab?
No. The bed does not need to be removed. In this case, this truck was in the process of undergoing other work, so the bed was already off, but the covers are typically installed without removing the bed. Running boards will need to be removed prior to installation, especially if mounted to the lower pinch weld seam. The doors don't need to be removed, though some people prefer to remove the rear doors to have more space and make it easier to fit the covers and minimize the risk of damage during installation.
I get the idea, but its like duck tape to repair a rusted bumper. No structural integrity
Not bad Got a quote for $7,800 to fix The rocker panels on my 2nd gen Dodge Ram 😂 ...
What do you do if the inner rockers are rusted out too?
OAM sells the inner rocker panel support for just that problem. I just purchased these for my truck. They are getting here today. I hope to get them installed today as well.
@@thicks8163 So does aftermarket, my point is rust is always more and never less. It's gonna take more the just outer covers on most of these trucks, but I do think they are a great idea for sure
crush the truck!
Fix it
daam dude u covered a Lot of rust up in there, that shits like cancer, any little bit u leave will grow, n around 6:31 there were still big bubbles under the paint
How much did you pay for them?
They’re $500
Como los compro donde
Son disponibles por el sitio web de OAM oamusa.com/
Hey kiddos no respiratory need for primer!!😂😂
why not spray a rust converter instead of grease.tape does not like grease.
Do you make for 2007 Silverado standard cab?
Cant find it on your website
If it is the 2007 Classic or "Old Body Style," that would be the same as the 1999-2006, which we have available. The 2007 New Body Style we do not yet have plans to make Quick Covers for. oamusa.com/collections/gm-single-cab/products/1999-2006-silverado-sierra-single-cab-cab-rocker-cover-kit
How much they cost like pair my Silverado 2000 ext cab
$426
Wouldn't fluid film be better than trying to get grease in all them spots
After greasing the main areas, we recommend using Like90 Wet Black Cavity Wax to get the nooks and crannies and interior spaces that are difficult to coat with grease.
Do you have to paint them if the vehicle is black?
Textured Quick Covers are UV stable and do not require paint. Smooth Quick Covers must be painted, as they are not UV stable. Both are black ABS plastic.
Do you make rocker panels for a 2008 Buick Enclave? @@QuickCovers
@@barryrenouf3450 Nothing yet for SUVs. We are currently focused on full sized pickup truck applications.
Our provincial government requires us to safety inspect ours every two years, do yours pass gov. safety inspections? The reason why I ask is because I live in the most corrosive region in the world (The Northwestern Atlantic region that stretches from New England to Newfoundland). This is a big market here for what you have if so. @@QuickCovers
@@barryrenouf3450 You would have to check with your local authorities to confirm the inspection requirements. I can tell you that we do get a lot of sales in PA and MA. I do know there are states/provinces where Quick Covers would not pass inspections, but I recommend you check yours specifically to be sure.
Wouldn't it be better to cut out at much rust as possible?
Yes, there is a note on the screen at 5:11 with that suggestion
As long as im not the guy driving behind u on highway when they blow off
So.. Basically the rocker covers will end up holding water and continue to rot the rest of the cab away. You just won't see it.
No. Use your brain... Oh wait you don't have one.
Not if you cut the rusty metal and cure the bear metal with rustproofing or something if you think ahead and do all the steps that you have to do but if you cover the rusty panels just to make your truck look good than it’s your fault it’s on the amount of work you are willing to put onto it
But the rockers wont rustt!
What’s it matter it’s going to rust anyway? The whole point of the product
This is obviously not a long term solution. It's low cost solution to make your truck look nice for a few more years. Even getting it done the correct way you'll spend about $3000 and with Iowa winters the new rockers will start rusting again in a few years. Also doesn't help this generation of Chevy trucks are rust buckets. It's really not worth putting tons of money into the body and not everything else underneath cause it will rust so bad these trucks can't be driven. If your gonna drive a truck like this daily and in the winter it's days are numbered and this is a cheap solution to make it look ok till that day comes.
POR-15 seems like an appropriate choice instead of grease.
I use Corroseal on my semi frame. Designed for ships with heavy rust of metal like chains and stanchions etc. Just paint it on, let it do it's thing,. I use black rustoleum on top. It lasts for 2 years, and handles prairie heat and direct sun, plus Alaskan cold temps.
@@rob1958bc would you recommend the corroseal over everything else or is there a better way to remove/prevent future rust (I live in the rust belt)
@@justjoshin5140 Depends on what material and what reason. I drive through the Rockies and BC during the winter. So you can imagine the crap that my frame gets exposed to. All I have to do is once per year to redo my frame.
Are you sponsored by team “go ahead”?
Bummer they dont have s10 covers
What year s10 i have pair most rust free 3 door
@@daveconley7192 its a 98 but my doors are good, just the cab corners and over the rear wheels has rotted out.
Better off to go down to your local steelyard take some measurements of your rockers like I did in my F150 and replaced it with some quarter inch steel and just welded together in the fucker last forever I mean absolutely forever with quarter and steel that’s what I did it ain’t got a look exactly the same it’s just Gotta be structurally sound these are trucks people they’re not Cadillacs they’re not Porsches their work vehicles they make money
These are just a cover. Even the inhibitor isn't going to stop the rust. The other thing, and maybe most importantly is that rocker panels and the inner rocker panels are structural components that provide crash protection. I don't think plastic rockers are going to provide any crash protection. Bottom line is if it's worth repairing, do it right and maintain structural integrity.
You are right that these do not provide structural support. Customers interested in this product are looking for a cosmetic solution. The structure is already gone due to rust, so doing nothing will only make it worse. Adding our covers provides durability and protection from further rust, but does not stop the rust. Unfortunately, getting it repaired the traditional way also does not stop rust. Unfortunately, we've seen these types of customers return to get it repaired again years later when those new panels have now rusted through yet again. That is why this product was developed. It started at an auto body shop and the amount of customers looking for a DIY or cheaper alternative with an original appearance led us to begin designing these.
@@QuickCovers If you put new steel on untreated, yes, they will rust out again. Most of us who replace the steel are treating the insides of the new panels so they will outlive the rest of the truck.
Great way to do a cheap patch job so you can sell a vehicle with a "oriented dokie Mr Cooter" patch job. Somebody is gonna get bamboozled thinking tgeor suv has no rust and they will be stuck with a parts vehicle.
To bad nothing for my avalanche
That's the hokiest thing that i have ever seen done, do it right or don't do it at all. Can't believe that someone actually makes that..Lol
For Christ sake, it's just a truck. A piece of machinery for work and transportation. Who dictates the "right way" to improve the appearance of a piece of machinery?
That looks sweet! That repair is basically the way modern vehicles are constructed at the factory. A piece of moulding over a foam crate. How hokey is that!? Forward progress and innovation is what it's all about. Give your money to the innovator, not back to the manufacturers that did a lousy job to begin with. They seen ya coming.
@@williamrobinson6680 I fix cars for a living , i know how they are constructed..Lol
@@garylivingston9052 I go behind the work of certified mechanics ALL THE TIME! Uhhhh...Mr. Goodwrench, you put my exhaust manifold gasket on backwards. "The composite side goes one way, the metallic side the other way " (true story). I know so many so-called "experts" doing it wrong for decades. But appreciate the good ones for sure! Still, innovation is key.
@@williamrobinson6680 Yes, we do have a code of ethics..thank you. this product looks like a car lot repair for sure.
This is not an ideal repair. The OEM panels are an integral part of the body. The strength is lost in the case if an accident. The cab has no structural integrity. If you dont care about yourself or your passengers fly atter!🤨
these are the worst things to buy! they are such flimsy plastic and it felt like highway robbery paying what i paid for these. these should be $100 MAX not $400
WTH
What a complete waste of time, at least cut out the rusted metal with an angle grinder and then use a rust converter on inner areas.
Yeah more affordable alternative cover the rest up so nobody knows it’s there even you forget about it until your seat falls through the floor or your seatbelt comes undone these cab corners are terrible idea
polishing a turd
Too expensive for my blood.
DO NOT DO THIS...
Horrible way to repair your truck.
Those are the cheapest flimsy looking solutiin to rust I have ever seen . What a garbage "repair".
What a joke
