    dd16 valve adjustment. I believe procedure is the same for dd13 and dd15.
    Intake valve lash 0.4mm
    Exhaust brake lash 0.6mm
    37ft lb torque on all nuts.
    DD15 & DD16 engines built before HDE0077481 exhaust brake lash is 4.1mm. DD 15 & DD16 engines built after HDE0077481 set engine brake the lash to 4.6 mm (0.1811 in.).
    DD13 before HDE0079072 set the lash to 4.1 mm (0.1614 in.).
    DD13 after HDE0079072 set engine brake the lash to 4.6 mm (0.1811 in.)

    You didn’t quite have that on tdc. That nub in the inspection cover is an indicator to line up with the timing mark.

    Pretty good video for the tune up process. However the only thing to correct is when you line up TDC 1 or TDC 6 the dot lines up with the pointer tab and not centered in the inspection window. Other than that good video.

    is this one helps for the truck fuel mileage to go up .
    My truck freightliner cascadia 2016 has 3800k mileage.
    The fuel mileage recently dropped from 7.3 to 6.2
    Don't know.
    I changed the engine filter and the truck still going 6.2 mpg

    im guessing i need to do this on the cascadia i just bought. not sure if its fleet programing or this, but the jake brake is so weak that even bobtail you only barely notice if its on or not

    • @owenjulien1991
      @owenjulien1991 Před 2 lety

      Would recommend this if you havent done so already. If the Jake's are weak they may have been used daily. Would only recommend using Jake's only when loaded and of course mountains routes.

    Tighten the adjuster to 6 inch pounds then set the jam nut to 37 foot. Then you'll have a good setting. Nice work.

    • @WORM1100
      @WORM1100 Před rokem

      Is that 6 inch pounds by specs or a personal process? I was thinking there has to be a better description than just "with a little bit of drag"

    How many miles do you recommend a valve adjustment after buying a new truck I've heard three different stories?

    • @cardinaltruckservice3753
      @cardinaltruckservice3753  Před 4 lety +3

      +Woodzedge - I think every 200-250k is appropriate. Overtime the valve seats wear and may make the valve remain slightly open if you dont adjust. This can cause valve to burn

    I belive to increase the HP besides adjusting the ECM you need to adjust valves more open. Am i right?

    • @owenjulien1991
      @owenjulien1991 Před 2 lety

      Doing a valve adjustment has nothing to do with hp gain. It just cleans up the burn process of the fuel.

    DO YOU SEE A LOT OF AFTER TREATMENT PROBLEMS BECAUSE THE OF THE OVERHEAD BEING OUT OF ADJUSTMENT? VOLVO DETROIT CUMMINS?

    • @cardinaltruckservice3753
      @cardinaltruckservice3753  Před 4 lety

      +Jason Lurie Not much, most are usually bad sensors or coolant in the filter

    • @Gilberto-mu8cp
      @Gilberto-mu8cp Před 4 lety +3

      You will see a lot of after treatment issues caused by overhead out of adjustment, if your valves are staying open longer that increases raw fuel in your 1box which can cause spikes in temps and even damage to your filters and reduces NOx conversion which causes MIL,CEL and SEL lights

    I also heard that if valves
    left open slightly, the engine performs better, is that true?

    • @lioalan9413
      @lioalan9413 Před 3 lety +1

      The valves will stay open as the wear. This is why you can hear a thumping sound coming from intake. If it’s bad enough you could feel intake manifold getting very hot in one area

    • @owenjulien1991
      @owenjulien1991 Před 2 lety

      No you can cause down stream failures in the one box to the filter's. Also could damage the piston or valves themselves.

    • @owenjulien1991
      @owenjulien1991 Před 2 lety

      What about the Jake's. I can tell you it's going to take a second person to assist in turning the motor at the inspection window. Suppose to adjust in order when the intake lobe is fully open.
