  • Jeff DeMent artist studio tour, and a brief explanation of different jewelry making techniques including g the differences between Tufa Casting, Sand Casting, Lost Wax Casting, & Fabrication.
    The studio is a work in progress, being built by the artist inside of a 40 foot high cube shipping container.

    Thst is my workspace dream;!!! I wanted to make a machine shop in two metal containers.......thought it would be nice.

    Hello, thanks for telling ppl that silver all starts at the same place. I think whatever form you start with it you still have to work it. Having a cast blank doesn't bother me at all. Obviously you are able to do the work. And it's a time saver for you and me.

    Hello Jeff. Thanks for the time spent. As a novice, I have to ask: What torch do you recommend that will heat up silver quickly, 3-5 oz. of silver casting grains to pour into a tufa mold?

      I use an electric melting furnace. It’s setting on my casting bench in the video.

    We're do you get your tufa blanks??? Or do you order it from???

      Depending on where you live, you can get them from a place in New Mexico and Arizona called Thunderbird Supply Co. They will deliver to you. Or you go to the Hopi/Navajo reservation and find out who knows where to get it naturally.
