- When Buddy Melvin set out to build a treehouse in 1997, he only planned for one room. Today the sprawling structure has 16, including bars, bedrooms, a pool room, and a dance floor. At the heart of the treehouse is an enormous trunk, which continues to grow, fed by the subterranean stream below. Buddy’s treehouse has a few broken floorboards and crooked beams, but he likes it that way. Used as a gathering space for dance parties and motorcycle groups, the treehouse is home to many happy memories.

Never seen such kind of a treehouse before taking the trunk of the tree as the centrepiece. I love it.
This house is beautiful and full of warmth - like living in a scrapbook of good memories. What a great place to have a party or just hang out. I also love listening to him talk.
Buddy Melvin is an artist and an architect.
That has got to be one of the coolest places I've ever seen, it has character and ambiance of a place where you just want to hang out. The imagination of childhood, the necessities of adulthood, bbq cooker and bar, with pictures and collectibles that tell a story. I can only imagine the feeling of that place when there is a party going on inside.
I also like that his vest and jeans look like upcycled old jeans. He matches his treehouse. I'd love to be at a party in his treehouse. Such a warm and loving vibe to it.
What a beautiful place he's created! I'd love to hang out in there. It has that cool cabin feel that you can't help but fall in love with.
Buddy you are a true artist and I love your tree, your house, and your philosophy
How beautiful it looks and so peaceful. It reminds me of a place in ones childhood where you would go with your friends to have a picnic and play games like hide and seek or ring around the rosie. You could sit there at night and just look at the stars and talk to God. That would never get old. What a wonderful place.
Buddy Melvin's poignant description of why he created his treehouse is inspiring. I've written about many contemporary Black artists coming from a well of Black traditions, using materials around them, making them into something else--often referred to by the makers as "makin' somethin' outta nothin'."
Buddy Melvin ~ You've created, with love and remembrance and joy, a beautiful place. Trees have deep roots. So do you. I want to visit. Please, stay safe. Carry on. ~ Jessan
Thank you for showing us this. It's wonderful to see what he has made and built up over the years. It's great to see his attitude reflected in a physical construction like this!.
Absolutely genius! I'm in awe and love the idea of upcycling. New stuff falls apart. Thanks for sharing, so lovely to see.
Follow your dream..👍😎😎😎
Looks like it will make a great AirBnB
All of you videos are so well produced and put together, I’m shocked you don’t have oodles more subs! Well, you got a sub from me!
Very cool place! Also, is he wearing a baseball cap with two bills on it??
Please don't ruin this for me.. Let me have this peace before I face the world again.. I need this peace.. And so do you. You will know the feeling when it hits you; a wonder in a world that you don't want to destroy. I appreciate the world through this man's eyes.
I hear you Sweetie! Try to stay positive and know this will get better. Hopefully there will be changes. I loved what you said.

You carry this peace within you, Jay. It's always *there*. Please, be safe. Carry on. ~ Jessan
Beautiful place I love everything about it (I wish it were mine!)...however, that is not a tree-house...it's a house on stilts with a tree growing thru it--a very big difference
I’d love to hang out there!
Wya Buddy
He is just my mother type
Is it really a treehouse if it's sitting on the floor? 😅
It's better than calling it "The house with the tree in it". So yes, I'd say it's a treehouse, from a certain point of view.
