- How do you define Gourdlandia as a place? Well. Located in Ithaca, NY, Gourdlandia is part farm, part art studio, and part workshop. Graham Ottoson, known as the “Gourd Lady”, is the gourd artist at the helm of this wondrous garden, and has dedicated her life to growing and transforming gourds into staggering pieces of art. Watch the full video as Dylan Thuras heads to Gourdlandia to immerse himself in the sheer delight that makes up the art center, and keep watching to see gourd marionettes, gourd masks, and of course, gourd lamps. It’s the Gourd Place, after all.

I LOVE how excited Graham was to share her passion with Dylan. I bet a class at her place would be amazing!
So glad to have come across this video. Graham is amazing and so is Gourdlandia. I will visit!
That's wonderful to hear, Rob! Graham really was so fun to speak to and it was such a joy to hear her share her love for gourds! Let us know how your visit is.
This lady found her niche
And for that she is rich
As she'll never be bored
In the company of a
Gourd
Oh my gourdness, it's true!
Bravo 👏👍
This is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a long time, they were both just so happy and enthusiastic to revel in the joy the gourd brings!
5:19 Jeez, I thought that was Dylan's arm for a split second. I was thinking he was going all in pretty quickly!
Great video.
What a great video to watch first thing in the morning. My face hurt I was smiling so hard.
Mine too!
Me too!From Canada!
And Dylan, watching your joy and I just listened to your use of 'Oh Canada'! I may sing that next time I sing of my beautiful country!
Thanks for bringing a smile to my face Dylan.
The joy and delight is really palpable. I’m so inspired to play and create from this video.
Show the process of drying the gourds. It is crazy how much water comes out of them and how the gourds change as the process proceeds.
Thank you! I have been a gourd nut my entire life. My 90 yr old dad has a shop full of them. This has reinspired me to pull some gourds out and play!
Yess! That's amazing. You should definitely do that!
Both of your enthusiasm for gourds was contagious 😊
Just two friends having a gourd time
You can't never reach true happines
Graham Ottoson:

I have a friend who is an artist of many talents. She has made gourd pieces including an aproned open topped piece where we store our wooden cooking tools . we also have a wonderful gourd container with leaves made of gourds.
Gourd lord
Everyone who wants to be happy should watch this! So uplifting!
What a wholesome experience
This is amazing, thank you for the upload. I am loving the gourds.
Absolutely fabulous! Love Graham's designs!
Wow, it's a horde of gourd.
Now I'm upset. I love gourds and we were on vacation in the Finger Lakes this past fall. We drove right passed it, and didn't know it was there.
Darn.
Go back, Joan! It's time to go back!
Yes! Come back!
I love atlas obscura! I love your website! I love that this all exists!
Just looked this place up it is next to an Eco village. Looks like a really cool place thanks for sharing! Edit: I just noticed I have 2 places near that pinned on my google earth. Buttermilk Falls state park and Watkins Glen Gorge.
Of course! Hope you get to visit soon.
I can't speak for the other places, Watkins Glen State Park is so beautiful. I loved walking through the trails of rock and all. Although it was about 35 years ago. I doubt that it has changed much.
I’ve made rattles and masks with gourds, they’re great fun to work with, but I’ve yet to grow my own, perhaps it’s time to do that.
The next frontier!
Been wanting to do Gourds for so long but had no idea you could grow them in colder climes, Very excited to get in the fun soon!
What a delightful video ~ THANK YOU ~ just subscribed !!!
This was really interesting, and enjoyable. I'd love to be able to make art like that. :)
I wish I had this much passion and vigor now let alone at her age
Wait, what? I'm only 29. The sun ages you, you know...
@@gourdlandia I suspected so!
I'm growing gourds as soon as I have a garden. Oh my goodness, I want to make gourd everything.
Me too!! I often have extra seeds; contact me in April.
I love gourds! They are so beautiful, artistic, and useful!
Saw another interview with her, and she's lit a fire in my gourdy soul!!
If tis gord lady is alone I a more than willing to relocate to where she is. This is the best Gord video I’ve ever seen
Such passion! What an uplifting video.

She'll never be... out of her gourd.
Fantastic pastime . In India we do have some interesting shapes too! i have a Gourd lamp from Chattisgarh!!
This has a real intro-to-an-A24-film vibe
She seems eccentric in a good kind of way. Or should I say "a gourd kind of way"?
The power of gords compels you , the power of gords compels you.
Qué bellas calabazas
First time growing. Do they dry well in a humid area. East Tennessee?
is this how heaven looks like?
How do I get seeds 🤔
Baker Creek!
Are any parts of the gourds edible?
I want to know the edible ones by name, too! Good question.
Some people eat gourds when they are little. Seems kinda barbaric to me....
" I totally get it "
For food to eat only not for decorate
