- An interesting mall in the Dead Mall Community for sure. It was good to see that it had a happier ending than most malls I've covered

much respect to John's Hallmark. He was their on day one of the mall opening and was the last store to leave. I managed the Radioshack from 2010 until closing in 2012 .
I was a little boy when they closed it and I miss going there
I was just at the Francis Scott Key Mall on Monday. It's fine I guess. It has the stores I need anyway.
I was there from 1985 to 2013.
Great video! Please do more of these mall videos. Really enjoyed it.
Absolutely! Thank you for your support!
Francis Scott key mall was always empty when I went there. They tried a temporary virtual reality machine that closed down a year or two ago and that was the busiest attraction/ business at the mall. It was always meant to be temporary and they said they were going to close in March from the time they opened. It was the only one that actually had a line. That still was never a big line. I stopped going to the Francis Scott key mall when they took the virtual reality machine out because I stopped having a reason to go. Warehouse cinemas and the tas Mahal(I probably misspelled tas Mahal) are the only tenants currently moving in to the frederick town mall. They do still have the home depo and a bosovs or bonton (the names are so, similar I get them mixed up.) Every thing else does not have a lease. After the Frederick town mall announced plans for district 40 two other business announced plans to build similar projects and unlike the frederick town mall they actually have the tenants with leases signed to prove it. It doesn't help that crime is still really big on the golden mile and many Frederick residents say even if something worth going to goes there they will still boycott that side on town for there safety.
The two new virtual reality business coming to Frederick maryland with leases are @VR and 4th dimensional fun center. Both of which are not at the frederick town malls old location district 40. The 4th dimensional fun center is basically going to build everything district 40 said it was going to. Virtual reality, go carts bowling, lazer tag and an arcade.
Nicholas Rodean yeah I remember when they had those virtual reality things
This mall keep its power on for years.
I am pictured in a few photos in these videos when I was younger.
That boy in McCrory was me as a child I grown up since then.
I used to drive 25 miles to shop here. It used to be nice. I never saw any problems there. I think Bon Ton and Wards going out of business hurt them most. The CVS drug store moved out and it got down to only a few stores. Boscov's seems to be doing well and there were signs saying that an Indian Restaurant was opening but that hasn't happened yet. I heard that the cinema was reopening but that hasn't happened. Who knows. The way people love shopping and doing everything online I'm surprised that there is so much complaining about lockdowns. I like buying in stores myself. I know what I'm getting.
Wards closed in 2001 we did our shopping there I ate at every restaurant there I was there a lot til the end of FYE that was the last time I was there I had the mall opened for my dad and I one night to set up a father and son night at FYE in the mall the closed at 5 P.m. but my dad and I had our night alone that night they used to close at 9:30 at night and 6P.m on Sundays.
Reminds me of the rolling acers what ever that mall is called in America here
From 1985 to 2013 I was there at Frederick Towne Mall.
The JCPenney relocated to Francis Scott key mall in 1996 and boscovs opened in 2003
Bon Ton closed in 2012.
I heard that they were actually going to fix up the building and move new tenants into it instead of demolishing it, Which sounds great to me. Something I find funny is that most developers waste time and resources demolishing malls that are in perfect condition right after they closed, while a mall that's been abandoned since 2013 is getting new life.
STMike The Meme Genie this is true, most of the damage to the mall is just surface damage (graffiti, broken windows, etc) a new roof would probably be a good move and from what I heard the new owners have already had mold removed from the building.
Regardless of how they do it. I think its great that it will be getting new life. So many mall owners just leave these dead malls to rot and it's sad to see them get there. Thanks for the update!
I love the music in the backround
Thank you!
FSK mall is great has a lot of good stories but near the dicks and library area it's kinda dieing out but it's fine

It's not doing well anymore the last time that I was there.
The mall got the floor redone what are you talking about it was my idea the old floor was so ugly the mall was remodeled but a snowstorm broke the celling near old Wards the stores were moved til they moved out the center of the mall died last the mall died from the end to the middle I was there from 1985 to 2013.
Yeah fsk mall its ok.....it's slowly going down hill tho half of the stores are gone....but I think it will be fine cuz it's the only mall in Frederick unless u want to drive down to Tyson's corner

Thank you!
You’re welcome! I want to see more abandoned places I haven’t heard of, I’ve heard of a few tho.
Like All malls, the FSK is Dying (thanks to the Internet).
But it'll probably take another 20 years to get there.
It's been so long since I've been there, and it was such a staple of the community at the time. Feels weird knowing it died off.
Oh really? So even when you lived there there was still a lot of people who went? Its always an odd feeling when places you once frequented in child hood are just memories now
@@ThePodCastDojo It had started tapering off, and there were rumors of other businesses people thought would compete. But at the time I was there, few of those had gotten a foothold. So, yeah, feels very weird in retrospect. Like, it was inevitable, but the whole process happened while I was away. Then I go back to visit family and it's a whole new planet.
Good work bro
Thank you!
Great job!
Thank you
