Very useful information! I have been using square payment system/ POS for 4 years but did not know that square had a booking solution. Square really need to do a better job at promoting their products to users. Quick question though: How can I scale this to allow for isolate staff services and integrate it with my payroll?
Glad you found it helpful! You can set up which specific staff members can perform what services (if thatâs what youâre looking for). They do have some integrations which you could look at to see if it integrates with your payroll. However, they also offer their own payroll system as well so could also be an option. Hope that helps.
Does square calendar have group classes? Also does it allow you to tag a service in certain parts of a shift? Also does square have a forum of people who use square to find providers or stylists? We currently use Vagaro. I didn't think to look at square because we were primarily looking for salon schedulers but now I need a better time tracking software for payroll so I am considering using square as a scheduler if it has the ability to attract new clients.
I donât think they do group classes and they donât have a market place like Vagaro does.. If these things are important to you, you should probably stay where you are
Great video. very clear and educational. I am running a massage business and am thinking of changing to square booking. But: I have some questions: Can I put discounts onto my massage services? if so, how? also I am wanting to create monthly membership options for my clients where they can have there massages automated on a monthly bases. do you know if this is possible? I seem to be able to make monthly memberships for items but not services. any help would be hugely appreciated.
Hey Luke,
You can have do discounts on services. Should be able to this as you define the price on the service if I recall correctly. Memberships is a little bit trickier. Square has subscription payments so you can have your customer purchase a monthly recurring payment. Itâs rather limited. You cannot tie it to a specific service or give access rights to something etc. but it allows you to bill in a recurring basis. I hope they will extend this feature.

I'm stuck adding "Options". How do you add that? for example, I see when your customers want to book Manicure there are 2 Options. How do you add that to your service?

Im trying to help my gf set up a website for her dance studio. Im a developer so I'm very technical but I dont want to have to re-invent the wheel. Do you know if there's any scheduling solutions that support classes, so a 1-to-Many relationship, ie. booking one teacher for many students. Very good video mate, do you know if there is a way to give set times for services? as Im an electrician 'Id like to set morning and afternoon windows? such as a 8 am 3 hour and a 12pm 3 hr, allowing enough time to get between jobs etc and enough time to complete a repair or installation.
Yes. You can just block your calendar when you don't want to be bookable. You can also add before/ after preparation time to allow for travel for example. So there should be a few ways to address this đ

Thank you for this tutorial...very helpful and some features I didn't realize were available. I am a sole practicing massage therapist, currently using MassageBook for scheduling software and square for everything else (payments and website) and i am looking to mainstream this by using one system for everything. My main concerns with switching to square appointments are this.....1. digital intake forms are an important feature to me so would need to find a work around for that. 2. I rely heavily on SOAP notes but I understand that square features a notes section as well as a file upload so worse case, I could use Google for notes and upload into client profiles (a bit tedious) 3. biggest concern: transferring my client profiles from Massagebook to Square. Can that be done or do I have to manually do that?!

If I am doing a Fitness and Personal Training Business, and want to allow people to book in classes, how do I do so, for example, 3 people per appointment from 10am-11am on a certain day. And also I have another question, with doing a Fitness Business, I charge $60 for a 1on1 session, however, I want to make it where you can buy 6 sessions for $45 each and book an appointment on the days suitable, how do I do so?

does square appointments have a no gap feature? where it makes sure you dont have any gaps? goes based on your first appointment booked on the day then books around it (above or below the first appointment) so it doesn't leave any gaps or open spaces?

I am not sure you can do that. Thereâs probably a creative way to go around it though.. Like two separate accounts or linking to different staff depending who should have access..

I'm not sure. You can obviously tie it to staff/resources and their availability but would need to look at if/ how you can do it on the service alone.

I donât think you can do that.. That is, selling a product with the appointment. I think you need to manage it at check out or setup separate product ordering for pickup.. Would need to double check but pretty sure..

There is a switch in setting for enabling this. Default is that you can only pick in but you can enable picking multiple.
Just a heads-up, Square has changed their pricing models, removing some features from the "Freemium" model including calendar syncing making the free version pointless for most people.
They have also been overtaken by several other scheduling apps/websites including Calendly for ease of use so this app is left with a very limited market (that doesn't include me, I've switched).

@@jessahgase6919 I switched to Calendly but I Thought I was using the free version and it turns out I was using the free trail and when that ran out they cut a lot of features that I needed so now I'm stuck for a decent scheduling app that does what I want without costing me a lot of money when most of my appointments are made in person anyway so paying a subscription would be pointless for me.

Would add though that if your prepared to pay the subscription that Calendly is way easier to use than Square and has all the features as far as I can tell in a much more intuitively laid out website

Square does offer the ability to adapt a service but not really add on. Have you seen Mangomintâs service customization feature? When a client wants to book I get a text message telling me to review their request. Instead of taking me into the app it takes me to a web browser that I have then log in to even see the booking request. Is there a way to simply check the booking request and accept or deny it via my mobile phone?

I run a kids hairsalon. Multiple kids book in from one family. They are booked in under the child's name. Do they need to imput child's name and credit card details each time they book? Or does the system remember the kids names so the details are automatic?

How I create modifiers for services

So Iâm a hairstylist and I also do eyelash extensions. I split all my appointments up by certain days.
For example.
Monday eyelash Extensions
Tuesday hair extensions
Wednesday vivid color
Thursday clipper cuts
Friday toner, haircut, deep conditioning
I do this because it helps me work faster not having to jump around from one service to the next.
Now my question is is there a way I can set it to where my clients can only book themselves on certain days at certain times? Like if I have eyelash extensions they need to be booked at 9 not 10 to fit the number of clients I need for the day. Because them booking them selves at 10 instead of 9 makes me loose a space for a client that I could have fit.

First, very smart to optimize your services!
I don't think you can control time on service level. What you could try is to attach a resource to the service (e.g. Lash room) and only make that room available when you want to have bookings for lash services. This does not need to be a real room. It can all be the same room. Just that the system should not allow people to book a certain service when it's occupied. Another option is to have multiple staff (that all are you). E.g. Lash Kristal and Color Kristal. You then set schedules for your different âpersonasâ different days..

The tutorial is on Square Appointments. Square space also has a similar product which I've used a bit. Generally, you should be able to charge extra at check out if you want..

It should work for a tanning business. You probably need to create options for different time lengths that they can book though.. You can have multiple calendars. Haven't maxed it out yet :)

I had the same question - and unfortunately no, you cannot allot specific time slots for appointments. The only way to work around this is to go to Appointments > Settings > Calendar & Booking > Reservation Guarantee. Select the "Business must accept or decline all appointment requests" option. This will then notify you any time a customer requests an appointment - then you can change the time they chose to one that suits your schedule. Of course this is quite a headache in my opinion.. because you must notify the customer that they must be placed in "x" time slot. Many people have asked Square to add a "time slot" feature to their site, so I am holding out hope that they are working on this - as it's a must for service-based businesses!
@@castle.in.the.sky. so I sort of figured out a way if you go on the app and change your business hours and change the start of your day and end of your day to how long your service if and then add more business hours to the day and do the same you can have control over the start times for the services
@@destinyagolio you can also create recurring appointment for yourself to define times a little more for example I book in 3 hr time slots so if want some one to come @ 8 I make the time for that service 3hrs and book a 5 min recurring break. To define the times.that are available

You can. You can either charge the full amount, a fixed fee, or just ask for card details and then charge for no show.. Or are you looking for something else?
@@TheSalonBusiness when they go to book, does the enter card info come up case I don't see it when I do a fake appointment booking.
It doesn't have a deposit but if you have people put this card info to make an appointment it will put a hold on their card. That way if they no show or cancel too late you can have a fee that will charge them in that instance. You let the clients know on cancellation policy

Yes, you probably need to be an admin to do that..
