This was the first video game I ever play ... in Abuja Nigeria around 1994 on the neighbor's gameboy. All our lunch money was spent on batteries ... we whooped and cheered the first day one kid beat the game. There must have been around 20 of us gathered around the gameboy that day. Wonderful memories.
Are you still alive?
Wow, I played this game when I was a child in 2005 approximately, I'm from Mexico, it's very nice to know that somebody in another place of the world also had this videogame.
@@YuzoKoshiroSan ☺️yes
I haven't seen this in 26 years,, the memory's are flowing back
I can’t watch this without humming along. One of my favorite childhood games
Everything about this game was amazing. The sound, the graphics, the physics, the gameplay, the overall design. I loved this game as a kid and it is a shame it was so underrated. This should have become a series like Mario or Sonic.
*_I KNOW..._* right...?!
Sonic is an especially good comparison because this game is all about physics, being bounced around and dealing with momentum, and it has some really excellent sounds and music with a fun spirit to them.
Yes i think it should’ve had a series or atleast because the kid falls down at the end.
@@handsomebrick , but, unfortunately, lots of empty space, a far more sparse enemies gallery, and far fewer power ups than Mario.
This was a spin-off of the NES game Balloon Fight.
This game marked my childhood and I consider it special, apart it is an incredible game, its history and music fascinate me.
First game boy game I played and owned
Has a great wondrous and bitter-sweet atmosphere. High quality game.
I owned this game. It was one of my favorites
So nostalgic, ahh I miss my mom
I was thinking the same damn thing. Love em while you've got em.
So was I.
I’m right there with you, bro. My mom picked this up for me at bestbuy along with a super gameboy.
💛💚💙💜💛💚💙💜
It's all coming back to me. My big sisters, the old black and white gameboy, the fun we had playing Balloon Kid while our parents were asleep...*nostalgia*
Afroplasm i had the color one
@Afroplasm yessss!!! @Whatever Chan....So what!?! I had the Gameboy, NES, Sega Genesis, N64, Gamecube, Nintendo DS lite, PS1, PS2, PS3 AND NEW Nintendo 3DS XL..Most people just had a regular Gameboy back then, because it was more than enough.
oh my god ;_; the music...
i just loved this as a kid. i feel like playing this now
I liked how the door to the bonus level was a giant Gameboy. How meta. Also, killer soundtrack. Always had one of my favorite first level tunes.
The backgrounds are simple but so inviting.
Fistwagon but you know crap got serious when the trees were no longer smiling
Is that one level with the giant pencils supposed to be "Pencil-vania?"
Awesome music!
As a kid I never knew you could blow up new balloons. So I never got very far after I had to ditch the balloons to squeeze under that building early on.
One of them games that could have become as big as sonic and mario, but for some odd reason never was remade into a franchise
BALLOON FIGHT DUH (no hard feelings)
@Retrogamer Dell If you think about it, Super Mario Bros is a Donkey Kong ripoff. And Donkey Kong is a Space Panic ripoff. And Space Panic is a Heiankyo Alien ripoff. Also, Sonic is a pinball ripoff.
@Retrogamer Dell no
Tingles baloon trip of love
@I Love Stonks It has never been as big as Mario or Sonic, of course. He's saying that it had potential to be if they made it into an expanded franchise. Honestly I doubt it'd have been that big but I think it could have sold decent enough.
And 20 years later I realize that the buildings in the background are shaped like matches and pencils...
Guess I wasn't the smartest kid.
cause it's pencilvania, get it
This is one of the best game ever made, music is excellent as well.
Thanks man! 20 years later I finally got to finish it... probably would not have done it without that video. The curse is over!
This is so nostalgic. Brings tears to my eyes 🥲
2013 and this song still gets stuck in my head every now and then. Thats how memorable it is. I just had to hear it again. Thanks for posting!
This makes me want to cry
OMG 🤭🤭 Yes this game was my childhood I remember breaking my balloons around the second and fourth stages and let’s not forget about the MUSIC God it was beyond it’s time and it set the mood for EVERY stage ( the forest one still scares me to this day)
this was the first game I ever played. I actually remember getting this, super mario land 2, and a gameboy pocket for my third birthday back in 1998, at a Chuck-E-Cheese. Thank you for uploading this.
A big fat kudos for posting this LP. I never finished this game...never made it past the Whale!
Nostalgia pure!
Man..memories. looking back at this game now when I played this as a kid when I was 4 years old, gets me emotional sometimes. :')
Dieses Game "war" echt gut, besonders die Atmosphäre und die wunderschöne Musik vom 1. Level;ich selbst habe das 8.Kapitel nie geschafft-wegen der "Bodensteuerung"-aber Super Longplay.
Even if Alice's balloons get popped, she can reinflate them but she must be quick on the draw when doing so, especially in the auto-scrolling stages.
DUDE I USED TO PLAY THIS GAME WHEN I WAS LIKE 8 OMG THE NOSTALGIA
one of the hardest gameboy games - you play it perfect. Very Well!.
Oh my God!! I found it. The memories of being a 80's baby and 90's kod.
Soundtrack is very cute, especially at 9:57 :P
Jogava esse joguinho no meu Game Boy Color e no Game Boy Advance.
Mamãe comprou e me deu de presente, saudades, achava tão fofinho esse joguinho que eu quase chorava jogando Kkkkkkk. Só adoro ele.
Probably the first game I ever played with an evil robot at the end, and to top it all off a Game of Thrones style ending where a total catastrophe happens in the very last moment of the end credits.
I still love the music and the graphics as much as I did 20 years ago. It's a very pretty game, and as a woman (well, girl back then) I very much like the fact that the main character is not a guy for a change.
I just had to download it from the eShop today - and thanks to the save-anytime-feature I will FINALLY beat the end boss. At least I managed to get to the last level back then, and reading the comments makes me feel less bad about never finishing the game. *g*
So many memories playing this game.
I searched the name of the game for so long idk why bcs its so simple but i enjoyed this game so much
This game was great and it translated really well to a Game Boy, I used to play this all the time on the old gray brick.
I finally got to see the ending of this game. This girl should be in the next smash bros
That powerup theme. SO AWESOME.
Oh my... this gave drove me mad as a kid. Such sadism in the level designs of the latter worlds. Never got further than stage 6. Way to make you hate nature and wild animals ! Sincere congratulations to T-0815 for finishing it :-D
the music on the whale level will forever haunt my childhood
+Jeff Otieno That level in general, man - I could almost never get past that level :)
+Jeff Otieno Same here! Salute from Germany
@@Elkanthar grüsse aus der schweiz
I don't ever remember getting past world 7
Fun Fact:
The boss music at 17:18 was later reused for one of the generic animation BGMs for Gameboy Camera.
It's odd how this game makes you go left when platformers usually have you go right.
ohsaywhatistruth To me, it was something new for a platformer when I played it.
The name of the first level is actually "Pencilvania," so it's a visual pun. Also, Gunpei Yokoi's "Ultra Hand" toy he created for Nintendo (back when they made toys/gadgets before making games) makes a cameo in the final stage. He helped produce the game, and other Gameboy games. He also created the Gameboy itself.
I could never beat Stage 5 of this game, that damn rain kept pushing me down to the water all time until I ran out of lives! 😂🤣
I definitely didn't get past stage 5 as a 4 or 5 year old. I think that's where I topped out on this game as a kid. I can remember everything up into the end of stage 5 with the moving star things.
I remember hearing about this game, but never knew it was a sequel to Balloon Fight!! D': This game must be really underrated then...
WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENS AT THE VERY LAST SECOND? HAHAHAHAAAA!!!! NO OTHER GAME ENDS LIKE THIS... A HAPPY END THAT SUDDENLY TURNS TO TOTAL TRAGEDY!!!
Yeah, the worst part? There's carnivorous child-swallowing fish in the water. This longplay skipped over all of the best enemies in the game.
Try playing a 1-credit run of Stack Columns for the arcade and come back, it's beyond words.
Sequel bait, maybe?
This game is my "madeleine de Proust", reminds me of such good souvenirs. Amongst the best games of the gameboy ;)
They made a sequel to Balloon Fight?!
Yea this imo look better
im having a crisis, i had this game and could have swore it went from left to right just like all other side scrolling games???
merci pour ces souvenirs ;)
nostalgic. one of the first games Ihad on gb in 1990. never realized its just the mario bros swimming mechanics on left to right platform game.
That ending though 😂
oh jear...the good old child hood times...i miss the feeling that i had as kid when i play such games...i loved balloon kid.
So, it's a prequel to Balloon Fight?
Loved this game as a kid ^^
This would make a great app store game. This was my favorite Gameboy games aside from Tetris.
great little game this. spent hours on it as a kid.
More than 25 years later I finally see that I was so close to beat the game. I always failed in the last third of stage 8.
Ah i play this game when i was child...i forgot the title this game..and now finally i find this game :)
I remember long evening playing this game. The original gameboy was so coool to have.
41 lives ... new record! Purrfect! :)
Wow... Great Job!
While I recognize the underlying theme of "Balloon Flight" (which I only know from Animal Crossing), I couldn't help but also be reminded of the music from Game Boy Camera, whether in melody and/or style. In fact, the boss music at 17:17 sounds *just* like one of the tunes available in the Animation mode. Did the same team work on both game?
Oh what a great game... MY CHILDHOOD! Love you gameboy, love you so much
I still get carried away when I see the pencil city (Penncilvania iirc). I drew it a lot as a kid.
Man... I loved this game, sadly it vanished a week later I bought it.
Does this game have an option to actually play the original NES Balloon Fight or is it more of an adventure game with the balloon fight theme?
This one does keep the Balloon Trip mini-game, although it's a bit more difficult as the wraparound that allows you to reappear from either side of the screen has been removed.
My eyes are tearing up...
This brings back hella memories. And a shit load of double a batteries hahah
i really love your channel platformers are good mario was legend game balloon kid is good
I remember this!-tears of joy-
loved this One!
No it doesn't have a mode like that, but it does have the endless "Balloon Trip" mode as an extra mode, and it does have the same "balloon pipe" bonus stages you can access in the main game. (Though, without the wrap-around "going past the end of the screen, and coming back out the other side" effect. So it's a li'l trickier.)
Still, a great game though, with plenty of nods to the original "Balloon Fight." Including the fish that tries to eat you. (On one level, it's replaced with a frog to.)
Muy bien jugado ..
Buen game
Man this game kicked my ass when i was little 🤣
Omg I remember this game. I hated it lol. Was so difficult as a kid. Now I finally saw the ending 😊
Ahhhhh...just how I remember it ☺
This game reminds me of Balloon Fight
That is because it WAS based on Balloon Fight for the NES, including the Balloon Trip mini-game. Hip Tanaka also did the music for both games.
It is actually the sequel to Balloon Fight.
what kind of data does youtube have on me? just because i watched a vinesauce stream where binyorped mentions balloon kid in one sentence out of the 90+ minute video, they're like, "HEY, YOU LOVE BALLOON KID" and they recommend this video to me.
well played
why is longplays org down
is it me? or did the the lil brother of balloonkid drown at the very end of the game credits?! wow thats a dark ending 2 a classic gameboy game i had, I just noticed it now?!
Oh childhood memories...
this game was fucking hard. i think no kid these days could beat it.
I couldn't get past that damn whale XD
olive4naito So true, I always feel like games today are too easy. I remember struggling in Contra and Metroid and now games like Call of Duty you take so many bullets to die.
+Max Power this game had me so vexed as a kid cuz the difficulty and addiction factor
+Jeff Otieno yeah this game was unmerciful. the tension you felt during a boss battle, the sweat dripping down your face...
Soul Cube I could barely get through level 7 when i was like 6
OmG, I totally forgot this one 😳
I didn't know there was a sequel to "Ballon Fight" (FC). It's almost the same music theme. But "Ballon Kid" looks less challeging than the original.
I didn't know you could refill your balloons as a kid so I never got past stage 3.
All this nostalgia
for some reason the charecter sprite design of that final boss at the 34:50 where your fighting a effin robot look like a cross between the tin man from the wizard of oz the 1939 film version, r2-d2 from star wars and number 5 a.k.a johnny 5 from the 1986 film short circuit in terms that the final boss has the face of the tin man,the dome trash can shape body of r2 and the tank wheels like feet of johnny 5 lol
So I guess that this game is a sequel to Balloon Fight, am I right?
Level 5 has fast scrolling, rainstorms everywhere, crazy spark minefields, sinister enemy placement, almost no land, basically it's hell. The levels afterwards might give you a hard time and take a few of your lives, but they're nothing compared to level 5.
This games actually good. Im on stage 4 atm
It’s kinda like flappy bird. Isn’t the music for this game on smash bros ?
Flashback 🤯
Constant button pushing to fly doesn't look like fun. Perhaps this is the earliest Flappy Bird?
I got both balloon fight and balloon kid on my 2DS
Wait a minute. There's an NES Game called Hello Kitty World that's a clone of this game! Or is this game the clone?
Hello Kitty is a clone of Balloon Fight, this is a sequel to Balloon Fight. Balloon Fight was inspired by Joust.
At least he didn't said "ass" at the end just like what Hello kitty world did.
I just found this game in the street
Cooler Soundtrack
