Do you have to pay to stay in the hospital accommodation? Would you say that this is an option for an entire year during your last years of medical school?

No, the med school pay for the hospital accommodation! I know some people try to get residential placements all year so they don’t have to pay for accommodation elsewhere however this is quite risky as you find out your placements quite late and won’t necessarily get your first choice preference (and sometimes you can’t even put a preference!) which leaves you with the risk of finding out you aren’t on a residential and having to organise accommodation late. I know that it has worked out for some people I know though and definitely saves money!
