It is I.
It is the Fizhy
Being Starborn with all the powers, whilst also being the Mantis would send the pirates into a panic frenzy, adding to the myth of the Mantis, less likely to believe it.
Mantis is only a reference to Space Batman if we consider the Mantis Cave (Batcave). However, there is another reference that makes more sense, that being the Phantom, a hero from the pulp magazine era who predates Batman and has basically the same backstory as Mantis. He's not one individual like Batman but a mantle that would be passed from father to son, creating the legend of an immortal hero who would fight, guess what, PIRATES, throughout the ages. He also had a neat cave as well!
The Ghost Who Walks!
There is also The Shadow.
@@filanfyretrackerThe Shadow rellied on a team of contacts to fight crime. And he was fine with killing criminals.
It's the dread pirate Roberts!
"I swear to devote my life to the destruction of piracy, greed, cruelty, and injustice, in all their forms! My sons and their sons, shall follow me."
The oath of the skull, sworn by every Phantom to take up the mantle through the centuries. I could totally see myself dedicating a universe to being a space age Phantom.
Too bad you can’t use the lair as your base of operations. Imagine, for example, if you could use the computer as a mission board to track down targets across the settled systems to take down pirates both on the ground and in space to earn money and grow your legend. With the suit and Spaceborn powers it would be enough to truly live out the fantasy of being a bonafide superhero.
Maybe a dedicated DLC? Go full Pulp Sci-fi/Superhero. Could be fun.
Right!
I already gave the pirates billions of dollars, killed a commander AND Lieutenant, I personally think the spacers are one of the coolest antagonists in starfield. So, I only get the mantis armor for the stats.
I wish they added in dialog similar to how it was with the Shroud in Fallout 4. That would of been worth having the gear on.
100% agree. Imagine doing the Nova gang busting quests as the Mantis.
@@downix yeah I did that quest with the gear on thinking the characters would react to it or have unique dialog. It was pretty disappointing 😞
Actually there is. There are random encounters if you have the gear on and the ship and if you get the right encounters, you can exchange dialogue with spacers and the civilians you save as the mantis
@@atlas-2260that's only tied to the ship and in space random encounters as far asi know, would be better if there were the same interactions for the armor when ur on planets or if the crimson fleet started freaking out when you show up to the key in the razorleaf or other ways to tie it into quests insteadof just 1 type of random content.
@@peadrianlastname they do react at the Key system, yelling something about being a legend if they can kill the Mantis.
That tyrant line makes me remember another good one i heard ''when tyranny rules revolution becomes law''
It sure does....a populace need to only grow tired enough.
"When tyrrany becomes law, rebellion becomes duty."
A quote attributed to Thomas Jefferson but probably not actually uttered by him.
@@ChibiPanda8888 Well it still holds truth today just..... no one is fighting against the tyranny even that what we fought the UK over during the revolutionary war aka unfair taxes our tyrannical government is doing to us RN! Plus when someone does do something they go to extreme or it gets demonized it just aint right!
So his mom installed a biometric scanner, so when her son's identity is confirmed a custom audio message would play, but none of the lethal traps, turrets, mines, etc would get turned off? That's cold as hell. Also the poor guy didn't seem to be aware that his life was in danger at all, she didn't even let him know that he would get massacred if he failed one of her psycho riddles.
It would be really epic if in the SysDef ending the Fleet reacted to the presence of the Razorleaf in the battle.
Or Anyone at all acknowledging the suit set. I think Bethesda should have tied the dialog flags to the ship AND the suit. Not just the Ship. But yes, having SysDef or Rangers responding to having been assisted by The Mantis would be even better for immersion into the role.
I actually spend A LOT of time in the Mantis suit, but not so much the Razorleaf. I Kept the ship nearly stock appearing - I made it longer and gave it a bigger cargo hold, better reactor, better engines, y'know better battle goods, but it's still a little underpowered. And that could just be from the fact that I'm still in the mid-40s range of level.
Trying to limit the use of console commands. Enough to keep medpacks and ammo alive since you can't really make any of the ammo, and medpacks are something I need due to my poor firing skill. And a handful of credits to build a Rambler II out for Vangard story use, which is, so far, my best combat ship. I don't even touch the Guardian I anymore, hardly. And I haven't flown the Frontier but maybe once in my NG+ playthrough.
I've not played a game like this before, and I'm seeing why people like Bethesda games. Main story is a bit dry. But the side stories are really good.
I finished out the Vangard plot last week. I started the Crimson Fleet plot over the weekend. I actually was pretty entertained by the first introduction to The Key.
Still undecided on how I want to close out the story on my side. I don't really want SysDef up my ass, so I'll PROBABLY side with them tbh rofl
Leon dying to a turret before he ever even got in to the cave is so random and unsatisfying xD
You can trash the entire ship and build a completely new one and the game still recognizes it as the Razorleaf. Same for any quest reward ships btw.
Incidentally, taking missions from the mission boards to wipe out pirate ships with the Razorleaf will sometimes change their dialogue when you jump in.
I wish they gave us a mantis quest line. Like missions where you go and save people from spacers and be a vigilante
Finally the video I’ve been waiting for since Starfield came out!!!!
a video about a funny looking insect.
I love these Starfield videos, there is like 100% more sass in them. This kinda reminds me of the Mistress quests in FO 76 for some reason.
The Dread anti-Pirate Roberts...
when you fly this ship around, spacers will refer to you as the mantis and legit get scared in space battled .. you can hear them talk with fear in their voices when they talk about you
Who cares about spoilers..
Keep the lore vids coming!
Just a courtesy.
@@Fizhyif they haven’t beat the game or done the quest they shouldn’t be watching this in the first place
Coming back to this video after I was inspired for a new roleplay build... As Leon. Purposefully going to ignore the slate in the first playthrough and NG+, only to discover several spoilers later the truth about his eccentric, half crazy mother and the legacy she left behind.
it could be also a reference to the phantom
because batman is not a mantle that just gets passed on (at least, we normally don't see multiple generations in a single piece of media, or they count as different members of the 'bat-family')
but the phantom is a title that's passed down (from father to son, I think?)
Man, such a cool mission. I wish I could like this armor more.
The armour is very marmite isn’t it
@@Fizhy it is, doesn't hold a candle to stuff from the crimson fleet, UC or starborn.
Love these types of videos, Fizhy, keep that sweet sweet content coming
That bit at 15:00 is exactly why I always disable music in Bethesda games. Imagine if you didn't have subtitles on and that crescendo plays at that obnoxious volume.
The Mantis reminds me of The Phantom by Lee Falk on the part of the Mantis having 3 known recarnations, has a secret cave lair and enforcing justice.
How drunk was I to get the mantis armour without remembering any of this holy shit
They should have made it where whe you are doing the second playthrough her son gets the Mantis and you could get the ship if you had a bounty because he would try to kill you.
A missed opportunity alright.
the mantis, is my fav ship, 4 out of 5 spacers run for their lives in their ships when the mantis arrives on scene, i laugh every time.
well the ship's name is a reference to to the Mandalorian series, his first ship is called the razor crest. and of course the mantis is a batman reference, but it's also a reference to the mechanist from fallout 3 and 4.
Interesting , Thank You
Livvey reminded me more of a wasteland scav from Fallout rather than a space fairing scavenger
This isn't the first time in a Bethesda game where you can take on the mantle of of a legendary vigilante.
"Death has come for you evil doer and I am it's SHROUD!"
I enjoyed that 😊
I don’t even play star field but I watch these videos because you
I appreciate that!
That still shot of the red ringed planet from a snowy, icy place. I want one.
Thanks for the very good content again, I appreciate that 🙂I loved the “the collander” video and now the two after that are great too👍🏻btw 😋 I'm glad I shot Livvey point blank after Sarah so casually and subtly gave her permission to do it😜 or I should say she wasn't against it at least 😁
Hesss backkkkkkk mom
I have risen.
I'm not sure if it's a reference but simply by looking at the helmet I instantly remember the Mata Nui mask from Bionicles
I'm just gonna say, just because of your voice. You gained a subscriber.
sic semper tyrannis was also spoken as Boothe shot Lincoln at Ford/s theater.
I just flew over all the letters and hit the button lol
Now we just need a mod to turn the suit into a batman space suit and remake the character space batman.
Big up space Batman
if you talk with sam coe's daughter, she talks about the mantis and you can reveal your secret identity if she promises not to tell anyone.
I turned the Razor Leaf into a Star Wars Republic Cruiser.
I like to think this is also a nod for a sci-fi investigative show called Fringe. In the show the characters can travel to an alternate universe and interact with their alternate selves. The timelines are similar but different, such as different presidents being elected and tragedies occurring in different orders. In one particular scene one of the side characters mentions Batman to his alternate counterparts. However no one gets the reference. Instead they reference a crime fighting vigilante called Mantis, starting a few seconds of funny dialogue debating which character was better.
For full context: Mantis is the alternate universe’s version of Batman. I cannot help but feel like this is a nod to that. I am probably wrong but it is fun to think about.
Alright I may do a mantis playthrough now lol, especially since the ship still registers as the razor leaf when you edit it
The bodies are spacers that have gotten taken out by traps.
Pretty sure "Scorched Earth" is a nod to the "Knightfall protocol" ending in Arkham Knight
Livi screams Untrustworthy
Im autistic and the voice actor makes it super clear that Livi will absolutely betray you.
It oozes off him
I feel bad for her son ngl
I think it's a reference to Batman, the Mandalorian, and the Metabaron
The bodies are spacers killed by the traps in the lair.
Such a great quest! The Razorleaf is such a great looking ship, where the mantis armour looks like absolute dogass. Tbh, most of the armours in Starfield look terrible. Can't wait for Mod support to bring half decent looking equipment to the game
U should play some cyberpunk! lot of good stories to tell there
I was getting heavy mandalorian vibes razorleaf/razocrest mantis/mando
I mean realistically your "Flashpoint" Batman. As in that alternate world. Bruce Wayne dies, Thomas Wanye becomes Batman and kills with brutal efficency, Martha Wayne goes insane over the death of Bruce and becomes the Joker.
cos Batman doesn't kill, so your "technically" Batman.
I love flying the Mantis ship and making the Spacers shit themselves
There's dialogue on neon while joining the gang about being the mantis.
I wonder if there are others like that. I've been doing a Mantis rp since the first new game.
What gun is that, gotta get that
I wish we could build a underground hanger in outposts
space batman
If the helmet in the back was more narrow the suit would look bad ass
tbh the most shocking revaluation from this quest for me is spacers can spell
They better be able to read considering they fly spaceships around and do complicated space travel. This isn't the post apocalypse or Skyrim with peasants.
"Lair" is pronounced to rhyme with "wear", just FYI.
I did this at level 7, got 5 legendary weapons not counting the legendary suit.
So the Mantis is kinda like the Dread Pirate Roberts of The Galaxy.
It's the Name That Inspires the Fear.
So you know what we do to Spacers 😂
Play Mirage Fizhy
I sold the mantis ship because I upgraded the Frontier and it wasn’t going to be used lol
I just love how every spacer freaks out when they see you Pop up in their Radar and go "OH SH*! ITS THE MANTIS". Also, the son is kind of a prick, unmotivated and probably not talented - he really did not deserve the Succession.
“I look like a nurse.”
“No you don’t!”
“You’re right. I look like a quarantine nurse.”
“Do you have ANY idea what you’ve taken on for yourself?”
“The incarnation of someone else’s midlife crisis?”
I couldn’t even remember how I got the mantis armor lol
Space dread pirate Roberts? 😂
This would be wild to discover organically. I'd probably shit myself and start some batman roleplay or somethin.
I discovered this last night and I was super stoked for the outcome!
I accidentally killed Livvy when I first arrived. To be fair, he was among a whole crowd of spacers shooting at me and I just unloaded on everyone,
The mantis is Gavin
Utterly ridiculous is where I stand..
colton the creampie king
Huh, too bad it got to the hands of a galatic criminal. Sigh, Though, tarnishing the reputation of such a heroic symbol is pretty exciting
Just kill him after u make the deal and get the use from him
I quite enjoy watching him explode.
None of that shit worked I destroyed the turrets by shooting them after that the pressure points don't work and the door is still locked also you can't hack the computer if your skill isn't up so thanks for not showing how to get threw that door and skipping it
He use spacer to pass trought obstacels so he use his own men.
That§s why there is so many corpses
