  • Join me in this #FlightVlog where I get checked out in the #C182 and get my HP endorsement! Unfortunately some of my cameras failed during the flight maneuvers, so all I had was the passenger facing footage. This is a bit different than my normal content but thought it was be fun to bring you along!

    During a student's first takeoff in a hi-performance plane the CFI says "right rudder," the student applies rudder but not enough, and the plane veers a bit off line to the left. It always happens. The nose will want to pitch up or down when you increase or decrease power. Lots of things to think about when taking off and landing (especially with retractable gear). Don't forget your cowl flaps!

      On the first takeoff I was surprised at the power. Definitely more right rudder!

    Nice video!...What I figured out was...with this 182 you need much more muscle-power to handle the yoke...thats where real flying starts.

    Very cool. Thanks for taking us along.

    The difference between a Cessna elevator and a Piper stabilator in yoke muscling, plus Cessna elec trim always cost a lot more than Piper

    Hey man nice vid! Quick question - I'm assuming you had your complex endorsement already, were you able to do the HP endorsement in one flight?

    • @thedesertpilot3118
      @thedesertpilot3118  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey, thanks! I don't have my complex actually. I have some time in a 172RG but was only one flight. This HP endorsement is easy to do without that in one flight and one ground session.

    Do you need a high performance endorsement if you have a multi engine rating but the engines on the twin are 150 hp apiece? I flew a high performance before 1997. So this is got my interest cause I don’t know if I have it. I gotta check in my logbook.

      I don’t know if you found your answer yet but the answer is no. I also have my multi and did it in a plane with 180hp and that’s when I found out that I would get my high performance. The engine has to have over 200hp per engine.

      @@jadonjones465 like you said he hast to be 200 hp per engine. But I did find it in my logbook that I had a high-performance check out. It was in a C-182 with 235 hp. I wish I could find the means to afford a turbine check out.

    Do you find the 182 elevator control to be extremely heavy?

    • @thomasw.richter5212

      For me this is THE advantage. I get a feedback when steering! Therefore I bought a C182.

      Appreciate the feedback, friend. I enjoy seeing the prop as it feels more real to me but I might look into getting a filter!
