Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Hi vengeance im dad
Bruce: I'm Batman.
This scene is so beautifully symbolic. Joker is always trying to get Batman to step over the line and enter his world. Bruce is never that far from becoming the very people he protects others from. Just a simple gate to step outside of. Fantastic scene.
Why dont you overanalyse on how the dirt on the ground moved about half an inch while they were talking and that symbolises your mom abandoning you as a child or something
@@SordidusFellatio Nice. You've been waiting to say that one for a while haven't you.
@Peniley Majorey Joker is meant to be a case study on the character more or less no?

Child or adult, Batman still had an air of awareness and maturity.

Remember when Bruce becomes batman this Joker will die bc he will be too old, there will be a new Joker when Bruce actually becomes Batman and prolly that Joker will fall into the chemichals and he will also most likely be inspired by arthur fleck
Edit: lmao i forgot i even commented that 2 yrs ago this but tbh i still kinda think what I originally said but i also think this joker might also be the one who becomes batmans eternal nemeis and joker doesnt need to fall into the chemicals to become the joker and we all know heath ledgers( RIP heath ) joker in the dark knight who didnt fall in chemicals but still became batmans nemesis joker and was an amazing joker, also joker doesnt need to fall into the chemicals to be the joker, and I feel like arthur flecks joker will stay like this because he already became the joker at the end or he might fall into the chemicals which will stop him from ageing or make him age slower and i would really like if arthur flecks joker turned out to be the one that becomes batmans iconic nemesis
and also in the main universe or like its known that there are actually three jokers in the batman universe in general so it would make sense if there is more than one joker in the same time period
"I'm Bruce."

Should’ve made a Batman joke 😞
"Lets put a smile on that face!"
Well, Joker was Batman nemesis, but Joker never want Bruce dead.
It's sad because as insane as he is, Arthur doesn't feel any ill will toward Bruce for living the life he feels should have been his. He doesn't resent him for being raised in a mansion by Thomas Wayne while he was left with an unstable mistress and swept under the rug. He genuinely wants to meet Bruce and have a relationship with him because they're family (or so he believes).
That's a really interesting point, It reminds me of Barry Allen/Flash and Malcolm Thawne/Cobalt Blue, Both were twins who were separated by a drunken lunatic idiot doctor, Barry Lived a good childhood and raised with loving parents until Thawne arrived where Malcolm had a crap childhood and was raised by Scummy vile Parents, unlike Arthur who wants a relationship with Bruce, Malcolm/Cobalt Blue is envious and jealous of Barry/Flash
This inverts the whole genre: it puts a comic character in our world instead of putting us into the comics’ world. Genius. My late spouse would’ve loved it; he taught me to see comics as an alternative, almost subversive, historical record, and now I think they’re-genius.

I just love the restraint to actively not make this historic meeting more grandiose, epic, to the point of it coming across heavy-handed, I respect it so much. We already know their future so intimately, the symbiotic bond they will have, the yin to the other's yang. Here it''s simple, subtle, the faint pulse of Hildur's score gives it this quiet intensity and tension. You see their distinct mannerisms and personalities already through almost no words. Bruce's quiet, withdrawn but observant nature and being mature for his age, and Arthur's playfulness, putting on a show, a performance but also his impulsive unpredictability. It's just perfect.

One of the reason ledger's joker was cool bcoz you don't sympathise with him..you don't see an emotional side or past of him..you just see a god damn psycho crazy villain with brains and no fear.
@Kunal Singh I think the developers of this movie weren’t aiming towards the movie being fully dc repeated. I think there goal was to show the viewers how a mentally disordered person adapts in the world. Then for the dc part of it, There were two choices: I think they either
realized that the story they were telling was similar to a dc character so they decided to throw in a little bit of dc in there or they wanted their movie to be the most popular so instead they added in Easter eggs related to dc such as the Wayne family and the name joker.
Sometimes I wonder how Arthur would never have become Joker if it wasn't for our society's cruel nature. I love how writers make some villians so unique and iconic, the audience actually loves them. Joker had such a great story and meaning, but kudos to Joaquin for the 10/10 acting

In this scene you can tell a young Bruce Wayne is still smarter than the average kid. He isn’t amused by immature jokes, he is serious and always examining his surroundings. Arthur shows in this scene his unpredictability, he attacks Alfred, he is willing to get close to the kid of the wealthiest and most powerful people in Gotham and shows little remorse for his actions. I think this movie shows how Batman and Joker are truly opposite sides of the same coin. Joker uses his tragedies for crime, Batman uses his own tragedies for justice. Excellent foreshadowing for a battle I hope we can see one day.

@@grantmortensonva Yeah, I think he tries to avoid stooping to Joker's level but I also think theres a spec of guilt knowing that the very society Batman protects, created Joker to begin with. Bruce understands from a young age that he will never be able to comprehend in the slightest, the trauma that Arthur experienced as a result of the social hierarchy- His family prestige prevents it. Therefore, I think as helping people is innate to Bruce, he at times sees a broken child within Joker but is also smart enough to know that Arthur has fully succumbed himself to Joker and has gone passed the point of help. Establishing this 'frienemy' relationship between them.
Batman will always prioritise the safety of the city but if there is a choice between killing joker or not. He would most likely choose not since he painfully understands that collectively they all did Arthur wrong, which in some ways led to the joker now doing wrong. If that makes sense.

This hands down is probably my favorite scene in the film. Both Arthur and Bruce are already showing signs of what they will become in this meeting, which makes the meeting of the soon-to-be enemies that much more chilling.
It’s even more poetic when the Batman and the Joker are born around the same time later in the film.

Yeah lol
True. But at least we know that Arthur intentions with Bruce in this scene were not bad, but the approach was creepy
I don't think the point of this scene is that this is normal behavior or Alfred's reaction is unreasonable. When people have communication disorders/poor social skills they can offend and scare others. I think it helps that his magic tricks aren't too slick in the scene: he seems really awkward. His good intentions (cheer up a somber young boy) don't work out, he's just too weird. You see how he's gonna wind up isolated and ostracized as if he were a bad person.

@@imgvillasrc1608 same something new for a change
....ok.
Perfectly captures their relationship - Joker just wants to make Bruce laugh.
With slaughter cause it’s the best medicine
@@M.A.C.01 well slaughter does have "laughter" in it
A start of a beautiful rivalry
The 2 best comics character in their early days 😁
That's life Bruce, always smile...
Sander Johnson and he can’t deny he will become a puppet and joker a king he’s gonna be up but joker down
Until his parents got murdered
Ash Ketchum FK Thomas and Martha
I kinda want to see a movie based on young Bruce Wayne childhood and becoming Batman in this universe
so another Gotham???
He must be a robot in this universe.
I know the universes are different, but we saw this exact thing in Gotham...
There are literally like 6 versions live action and animated of what you are asking for.
@@keytrononit3 I know what he means. I didn’t like Gotham’s storyline at all. Would like to see a dark and gritty movie like this.
DC cant go wrong with the color sectional, very amazing dark cold and warm ambience of movies
It's even sadder once you consider the fact that they will one day be arch-enemies.
I agree. This is probably the only time Batman and Joker were friendly with each other. I imagine this Batman is going to be similar to the Telltale version. He learns his mother and father were not who he thought they were. Yet still, he chose to keep fighting crime. But this time not just to avenge his mother and father, but also to clean up the mess they made.
1:56 Alfred sounds like a dog
Jake Maddia Yeah he does
Lol he does
Woof, Bruce!
I cant unhear it now, thx
Yes he is
I find this version of young Bruce and his lack of reactions awesome, the best portrayal. He's stoic, it's in his nature. Not everyone with money and power can become Batman, no matter the trauma. Kid just had it in him, not in the bad way. After all, Batman is genius. His young self might act unusual. I find his lack of fear very fitting, I wouldn't call it psychopatic, but it's somewhat unhealthy, cool detail, love it.
David Mazouz in Gotham was better
@@grantimusprimeofficial2732 I feel like you can't really compare them. Mazouz's portrayal was good but I'd say that the actor who played Bruce in Joker is a lot more comic accurate.
If they explore Batman I'd find it interesting if they approach vigilantism as something that's more akin to how we see it in reality.. something that can cross the line, be disturbing, or wrong but also the opposite. Batman taking that sort of control irl would definitely rub many people the wrong way.
Staying calm while a stranger put his (Joker) hands into his (Bruce) mouth, just standing when Alfred is getting violence and choking and when his parents got murdered, best UNREALISTIC reactions ever lol

What a nice little boy I'm sure he will grow up to do great things. He might even fight someone with clown makeup.
Arthur: *puts his grimy fingers in Bruce’s mouth strangles Alfred*
Also Arthur: why is Thomas Wayne so mean to me
poker8100 lol
Basically the whole movie.
prodigyKidColdasIce no he is not Arthur was adopted by penny
@@poker8100 Yeah, he's not his brother. At least not the the actual canonical well known universe. I know there was a little hint that maybe he was in Joker, but in the broad scope of things, they are not related.
@@thebatmanfan1309 False, in a scene after Arthur killed his mother, he looks at a photo of his young mother and on the back of the photo, there is a dedication signed by Thomas Wayne, so chances are Arthur if he is his son, then Batman and the joker are half brothers
Quick little detail. Notice how Arthur and Bruce wear identical outfits. This is to show that Bruce Wayne (Batman) and Arthur are the same. Of course not like mind wise, but like the Joker quoted in the Dark Knight: “To them your just a freak, like me.” Good little detail by the directors.
Yeah they dress the same but Bruce Wayne is Rich and joker's poor. Bruce Wayne's got the Gucci designer brand wow Arthur fleck has a poor man's version
What I love about young Bruce here is that, instead of just marveling at the tricks or laughing at them, he's trying to see how the tricks work.
