Before I had never taken Shazam seriously, always thought he was just some wannabe Superman with lightning powers. Him sacrificing himself to speak out and call out supermans bs has given me such a new found respect for the character. In many ways he is better than any of the other Justice League characters. It's just sad that it took his death to make Barry Allen realize they had gone too far.
He wasn’t a wannabe superman. He was superman’s biggest fan. That’s why he joined the regime. His death showed that superman was hopeless.

I like how this shows Billy is really just a kid with powers of a God. He only joined up because he heard the joker killed lois and superman wants to kill anyone really evil. But after hearing that he'll just kill anyone who disagrees, Billy just immediately goes, "hell no" even with the "there has to be limits on us" and "have you gone nuts?" It shows he didn't understand the scope of what was happening until it was literally too late
What made this scene even more spine chilling is that you can clearly hear the struggle in Billy’s muffles when his mouth is froze

Raven is a 3 dimensional being and her soulself is comparable to the crimson bands of cyttorak both are used to restrain dimensional beings (cyttorak, trigon) it has extra dimensional energy.

It shows how far gone Superman and the other members are (as they did nothing to prevent Billy’s death or barely had a reaction) and it causes flash to finally say “fuck this I’m out” and switch sides

I feel like Grundy honestly sympathized with Barry in this moment when he allowed him to pay his final respects. Even an uber strong zombie has more compassion than Hal in this moment, who literally refers to him as an acceptable loss.
Same idea applies with Atrocitus in his arcade ending in Injustice 2. Even a monster created from pure rage and aggression eventually had more compassion than Kal.

I love how it foreshadowed flash betraying superman. He not only talked about him going to far with Shazam, but also went to back him up before Lantern held him back
The fact that nobody there except Flash decided that Superman crossed a line there shows just how far gone everyone else is. This is why I love the Flash. A voice of reason when no one else is. It just took him way too long to do anything.
We learn after the injustice game that the reason Hal didn’t let Barry go or spoke up against Superman was because he was afraid which when after the game once he does his time and regains his will he also gained a bit of vengeance. Not to Superman but towards himself because he knew he could’ve/should’ve done something to prevent the deaths of many leaguers especially with Billy who’s really just a kid. Realisticaly Superman has bad chances against either Shazam or Flash. Shazam is at avarage literaly on Superman's level in terms of raw power and is a magical entity on top of that. He is the de-facto mightiest mortal on Earth. Which is why his death makes no sense. Shazam can tank heat vision just as easily as Superman.

It was at the scene where you’re really felt that superman had lost his way. Beyond planning to flatten Metropolis and Gotham city for the actions of a few, killing Billy Batson for pointing out the truth is petty, disgusting, and inhuman. What’s even worse is how many heroes in that room are drinking the same Kool-Aid and thank God Barry Allen had the sense to realize his mistakes. What makes it even colder is the fact that his behavior following killing a child shows no remorse or second thoughts. It was in that moment you truly see that this Superman is beyond redemption. He has made himself the butt of The Joker’s last punchline and he doesn’t even realize it.
Somethings Telling me he is gonna have a darth Vader moment in Injustice 3 and return back to the light. but you're right either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

I don't read the comics but this is the logical think I'm thinking. The only time i saw Shazam in action was in Flashpoint and the kids being forced to transform threw back wonder woman.

The fact that Jordan stops Barry from stepping in bothers the hell out of me. Barry could have easily stepped in and defused the situation. But instead we watched superman kill a 12 year old boy.

Any kind of Sympathy I had for ‘Injustice’ Superman went out the Window, after this.
It was long gone before that... when Superman killed Luthor in the previous chapter.
What's even more disturbing is the fact that none of them even tried to stop him he didn't deserve that.
Really something to be said about Billy only being a kid at the tend of the day. Kid had more courage than anyone in that room to speak up against superman. One of the reasons why Shazam is one of my favourites.

@@Damienp3902 Yes, but it's normal humans who take those decisions and who (with enough luck) may have enough perspective and humanity to refrain from doing so, and even then, most countries have already abolished the death penalty due to the fact of it being inappropriate even for the most violent criminals.
When it comes to superheroes, I don't mind a couple nut jobs like Castle or Deadpool going around killing the odd irredeemable villain, but the likes of Superman and Batman? Hell no.
The no killing policy is esentially the superhero equivalent of the Asimov laws of robotics, take it out and shit like Injustice starts happening.

I’ve got a few theories on why Billy tried to yell shazam. 1. They didn’t want to show Superman murdering a child so they had him in adult form but he’s not powered up 2. He was trying to become a child to show Superman what he’s about to do 3. He was trying to summon the lightning to incapacitate Superman

Shazam, and those touched by the wisdom of solomon, rival Superman in power. That means Billy there was either too scared, or too surprised about the entire ordeal that he wouldn't fight back against the idol he looked up to.

That's a cheap way to kill Shazam since he's just as strong as Superman and he has healing abilities.
He was base-form. You have to remember this takes places decades ahead, he's no longer a child. So he has the durability of a normal human without transforming.
Hence why supes used freeze breath.
He more than likely could of given supes a tough fight if the others wouldn't intervene, if not outright defeated him if he managed to get that transformation off.

HEALING, whereas Superman can not be damaged by any means and Shazam is NOT as powerful as Superman. Superman is unstoppable without kryptonite
@@johnhumburg1828 Most fights between Shazam and Superman never had a clear winner, but in "Kingdom Come" the best fight between the two in my opinion, Superman did come out victorious in the end. I guess I agree that Superman could beat Shazam if they were to fight seriously, but Shazam wouldn't go down so easily though.
