Using a Rabaconda for the FIRST TIME to change my Tyre!

- I recently bought a @Rabaconda tyre changer starter kit, they did give me 20% off for featuring it in videos(which I was going to do anyway) so a big thanks to them for doing that, as they didn't have to.
This is my literal first attempt using this and ignoring the instructions so I can see how easy it is to use for the average human creature....turns out, it's pretty easy!
If you enjoyed the video please hit the like button, it pleases the gods of CZcams and then let my videos do well :D Also if you're new here please consider hitting that subscribe button for more bike related content :)

#diy #howto #rabaconda
This is my true first attempt using the rabaconda, not using instructions to do the tyre and seeing how easy it is to get the job done. I made the video like this as it's an expensive bit of kit so I feel it should be intuitive and relatively easy to use, which it was.
I will be making a better video next time to show everything closer.
Nice! Somebody invented a better mousetrap! I gave up with shops mounting my tires in the late 80's. Only if you buy the tire here at too high $$$ blah, blah, blah. Now all these shops are closed. I blame them, have to compete. Bought the Harbor Freight changer, recently upgraged it with the Mojo lever setup. It's almost as easy and fast as this, but WAY cheaper.
Absolutely, I nearly fell over when I had a price of 50+ per removed wheel from Ron Ayers in Greenville especially since I was buying the tyres through them. I used to just use my knees and levers and not bother balancing, and would have went with something like that tbh, but this was more a public service too to test it properly :D
Looks like a good system.
I have a riding buddy that has a similar system. No point both of us having one. So I’ll be buying the coffees (or beer) whenever I need tyres changed.
I'm very impressed, longevity will be very important and interesting.
Absolutely, as I said to someone else here I'd see this being an amazing buy between a few friends or something.
The smudge on your forehead is so perfect. I'd like to be able to do it myself but I'm also a realist and know I might need to get professional help on it.
It was also grease from the front sprocket so it was melted in there :D You could absolutely do this man, if I can do it literally anyone on this planet can. Pants on one leg at a time my friend :)
I struggled like hell changing out my first few tires lol. Didn't help I tried it on the most stiff tires in the industry. When you learn how to use it, GAME CHANGER.
I cheated in that I used to do this on my hands and knees with a few levers, I also weigh a lot which does help :D Yeah this thing has definitely made me more self sufficient, my knees and back don't let me do it the cheap way any more.
@@TheGorillaBiker and it can go with you to track day!
Yes indeed :)
I'm sold! In the UK I'm finding it harder to find garages that will handle motorcycle tyre fitment. Something like the Rabaconda puts the power back into our hands, and to your credit you made it look pretty easy . Nice work!
Yeah it's a bit mad that so many treat them like unstable dynamite these days, it's just a wheel.
Exactly. Love seeing stuff like this come out, haha if I did it wasn't my doing 😂 Thanks!
Impressed. A very good demonstration too. Something I used to do back in the UK. I am sure you will use it more once you start doing track days regularly. Here it makes no sense to spend that kind of money. Labour is so cheap here. I do think a balancer is a good investment as that is something I have seen garages get wrong quite often. Good and useful video. 👍
Thanks! Yeah I'm very happy with the system, expensive.....absolutely, definitely something I can see a group of friends buying and using, and/or people like myself who have lots of bikes and go to the track etc.
Absolutely region dependent too, I probably would never look for one at home in Ireland as prices were more reasonable with people who actually like bikes working in the shops :D The last person who did my wheel had it shockingly wrong :P
I got mine last year. Fantastic bit of kit. Folds up neatly and is effortless to change tires. I used all kinds of devices from a Cycle Hill, to a modified Harbor Fright to spoons. This is king of the hill.
Yeah the fact I can have the wheel off and back on now in no time without leaving my house is insanely handy. I've only ever used my knees, some wood and irons before so I jumped all the way up the hill 😂
@@TheGorillaBiker. I saw you riding some of my favorite roads with Bruce (czcams.com/video/7yanOMARVYE/video.html) and got seriously jealous. I love it down that way. We did the whole BRP plus some side roads last year and it was a blast. Heading out towards Pennsylvania on Thursday for a few days. Cheers!
Great vid!! Looks to be a decent quality, easy to use bit of kit. For your "set up" it's a no-brainer, just order in the tyres you want and job done, nice! I don't think I can justify it (I'm lucky to have several MB tyre shops on the doorstep offering reasonable prices). Tempting though 😅. Cheers Andy.
Looks to be excellent quality so far, but I'll reserve judgement until it's done a lot of tyres. One or two before incurring damage would be a massive failure. Exactly, bitta self sufficiency :) Haha stick with the ease of letting them do it while it's affordable :D
Thank you so much! I have never heard of the drop center tool until you mentioned it so I just ordered 2! Hopefully they work as well as they did for you (I got tired of trying to hold the tire in the center by hand). Thanks again!
I know in the past when doing the job on my hands and knees I've pushed the bead opposite what I was working on with a tyre iron too but those things are very easy to use! :)
Thanks for sharing and well presented.
Thanks!
I've never messed with changing tires. Something like this would make me feel a whole lot better about attempting it.
Honestly if I can do it literally anyone with hands can. If you have a few local bike mates buy it between ye and it'd pay for itself in no time!
Cool tool, I've thought about getting one myself
Ive done about 5 tyres on it to date, about to do 2 more. Very impressed. I'll be doing an auld review soon :)
Dang thought it was a cat haning over in the garage! XD
It seemed fairly simple to get the tire out.
Will you be doing the shoes on the Valky?
A cat? :D Que?
Very easy tbh, I was expecting to have to fight it a lot more!
Eventually yes, the tyres on it are fine tho!
@@TheGorillaBiker I saw the bag being blown! xD Though CAT CAT CAT!"!!!!!
@@Malato12 ohhhh. I wish I had a cat over here 😭
What an awesome bit of kit, quite pricy, but if you do the miles, well worth the cost. What size rims will that kit fit?
Extremely pricey, which is honestly a huge part of why I wanted to buy it so I could warn people off it if it was bad. But happily it'd great! I can't remember exactly but 15mm bore wheels and then 20-32mm bores also. I think it'd work up to at least. 21" tbh looking at it
@@TheGorillaBiker Ahh that is good... be annoying to need 2 different units to do sportsbikes and adv bikes.
@@HippoDrones oh 100% I probably wouldn't have got one of that had been the case
hello, please tell me where you bought the driver's footboards? give a link, thanks
The drivers footboards? I have no idea what you're talking about sorry.
Wow, that tool works really well. I might have to invest. I've never changed a tubeless street tire but I've changed many motocross tubed tires this could be useful.
With this yoke you'd be able to do them all :) Very happy with how it works tbh!
