    I started watching your content when, late in life, I decided to take my full test and go for a "big" bike. It was primarily because of the tallness and your views on the bikes re rideability. Very soon, it became much more with your varied content, inimitable wordings, and sheer enthusiasm for all things bike. Passing on knowledge gained from experience can be hugely rewarding, especially when it's acknowledged. Your OC question is impossible to answer IMO. No one thing is critical. One minute, you're in the garage doing mechanicals, then it's out on a road trip or giving your thoughts on kit/accessories/the meaning of life or hurtling round a track or riding accross Europe after collecting a Falco. So, what I think I'm trying to say is, as long as you're enjoying it, keep it coming. I know I'll be watching!!!!! Cheers, Andy.

      I really wish I could find someone else to work with so I could do reviews again, I did them specifically for taller folk. One day maybe! I am very glad you found the channel and enjoy it :) Yeah it's really nice to have that feedback loop on occasion, especially on older videos I put so so much effort in to :D
      Haha you might eventually melt your brain listening to my dribble so :D

    It has been good to catch up on this episode. I like you because you and I are about the same height and size. You are younger and Irish; I am 69 and of Italian ancestry. We both love motorcycling. I recently sold my Victory Vision and bought a 2017 BMW R1200 GSA. I realized watching your rides on your V-Strom that I would be much more comfortable on an ADV than the typical V-Twin Cruiser. As a young man, I had gotten to know more than a few Irishmen who came every summer and worked in the USA. They became good friends and listening to you reminds me of them. I just like you and that is enough in itself. God Bless!

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 20 dny

      Oh how are you liking the GSA? Yeah for taller folks the ADV bikes really are a godsend, I haven't ridden enough big big cruisers to know what the direct comparison would be, but even weighed against larger sport tourers they are just leagues more comfortable.
      I'm glad some countrymen left a good impression :D Thank you! You too!

  • @Banditmanuk
    @Banditmanuk Před 23 dny +1

    I still watch, probably more of the touring stuff than the garage vids. I remember saying years ago that you were my top tip for CZcams big time. Young, knowledgeable, and fun to watch.
    I suspect the move to the States and possibly the gap in uploads during the transition hit views.
    (If you look at your studio stats, where are the bulk of your views, Europe or USA?)
    At our growth rate, I suspect we will never get to your sub count, but we're happy doing what we do.
    You have to do what makes you happy. Also, remember that each little video is a time capsule of that moment in your life. Looking back through old videos becomes more interesting the older you get. Cheers and take care

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 23 dny +1

      That's fair, I largely watch more touring than builds as well, and I'm gone wicked bad for watching it on the TV and then never comment, which is awful of me 😂
      You did indeed, thanks again for the faith 😁 I would consider this to be about as big time as I ever thought tbh!
      Oh yeah moving absolutely gutted the views and it hasn't really recovered, but that's fine too. Not much I can do about it sadly!
      It's actually ways been about 50% US. That hasn't changed oddly. I genuinely love your tours, it's one of the few vids my wife will watch with me, probably helped her make the jump to come on a trip tbh. So thanks :)
      That's very true, I've never watched anything back but one day I might, and at least I'll be able to!

  • @TrooperTed
    @TrooperTed Před 24 dny +1

    I hear you on the joy of the comments, I did an ASMR install of a GPS mount on my KTM and I only did it that way because I couldn't be arsed speaking to the camera that night in the shed 😂 But I've gotten comments like that where people say it was a big help and that made it worth it to me. It took 3 times longer to do (moving camera around to get multiple angles) and then ages to edit the flipping thing, but knowing someone else was helped by it = all the feelz. Editing is the bane of my existence though.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 24 dny +1

      Hahaha I get that, I made a few shorts last night stripping down the SV650 instead of full videos as I just didn't have the talking in me :D
      Yeah that's honestly the best, lovely when you've actually helped someone!
      Ah stop, makes everything take so so so long :D I hate editing, but I could never let someone else edit either I don't think :D

    I think you are doing very well with over 11,000 subs. I wish I had that many. I like watching your videos because of your style. I try and do video's that i think people will find genuinely interesting and have fun doing them. That is my motivation. Keep it going mate. 😎

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 24 dny +1

      I never worried about subs tbh, as I said en el video I have more than I ever thought I'd have, the sub count hasn't increased comments, or likes so it honestly makes no difference to me. The same people comment and watch now as a few years ago :) Well thank you good sir :) Same! Just record what I'm doing, or a ramble and try to only release actual interestingish stuff. I've deleted a lot of stuff rather than edit it over the years! A good motivation :)

  • @HippoDrones
    @HippoDrones Před 16 dny +1

    All the while it is a hobby, and as long as you are having fun making the content and the process of that and then the engagement from your viewers, then that is all the reason needed. I've found recently a drop off in comments on the content has been a bit of a demotivator, but I also see that more folk watch via TV where commenting is harder to do. I'd be quite lost I think if I were to stop doing the CZcams thing, the community is what it is all about for me.
    I wish I was better at the spannering stuff, but man that is really hard to record too... so also kind of glad I am a bit rubbish at it, so my bikes mostly go to a dealership when anything more than brake pads or an exhaust swap etc is required 😀
    I love that you keep making vids 🙂 You are a hugely interesting person to watch on here.
    Your humour and tangents mostly 😀

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 16 dny +1

      Yeah when comments fall off is when I really consider my life and future :D The worst thing is I'm guilty of that, these days when I get home from work I stick youtube on the tv and that's why my comments are as often now, which I genuinely feel bad about :D 100% the community we have on here is the best part of it.
      Honestly you have the right of it, there are so many days, mainly on the cars, that I wish I literally didn't have the tools or experience to do a job as I really hate working on cars :D
      Thanks amigo :) I am very glad my actual friends still enjoy the channel!

    • @HippoDrones
      @HippoDrones Před 15 dny

      @@TheGorillaBiker It is often the easiest way to view for people, so I get that it is harder for them to interact. It is also a downside to changing bikes a lot... folk are not interested in all the bikes, just the one they have, so my viewers are spread out over 3 to 4 bikes so will always see less comments, especialy when I have a change around in the fleet.
      IT was what got us to know you mate, so of course we are still gonna love your content even if you are on the wrong side of the pond! 😀

    I replaced my z900rs pegs with some new Puigs thanks to your recent pre-track day video. One of my stock ones broke in half thanks to a driveway drop. I also hope to meet in person one of these days since we’re relatively near each other. Your production value is totally appropriate for the kind of videos you make. That sounded backhanded, but I just mean that people who complain about camera angles on a hobby-style vlog need a better hobby of their own. Thanks for keeping at it.

      Not at all backhanded sure I say it about myself :D For the time I have available to record and edit I'm relatively happy with how they come out, obviously in a perfect world I'd rather better lighting, paint etc etc. Thanks for watching :)

    @StoicRiding Před 24 dny +1

    I like your channel, I accept that I'm not the most reliable viewer, but you have good videos. Something that you mention, on how you take feedback, I've seen that at work and other aspects of life, if a person doesn´t have a huge ego, knows to have self-criticism and is honest, would react as you do, it seems like a logical way to react, but is not the most common thing.
    Talking about cars, are you going to get a 50/60/70 pick up truck? That would be one of the first things I would look up if I ever move to US.
    Btw: your channel is a nice way to have like a diary of your life, a legacy maybe. It is a nice thing to have, independently of the views/susbcriptions.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 24 dny

      Ah don't mind tat, once you watch and comment at all I appreciate it :D I know my videos are a bit varied so I generally expect they won't interest everyone equally etc.
      I think a lot of people on here and in life would do a lot better if they bloody listened and learnt a bit. I do understand telling people where to go if they approach something like they're god's gift tho.
      I'd love an old pickup, sad reality is space makes it impossible at the minute as well as car insurance here is absolutely mental. I will definitely get one at some point tho if we stay.

    A lot of the more popular channels are for shock value and/or they do crazy things on bikes. People are less interested in thoughtful channels and more interested in being mindlessly entertained - look at popular media, same thing. Keep doing what you're doing, it will be more sustainable over the long term.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 24 dny

      Yeah very true, I think a lot of the CZcams culture, so to speak, over the last five years has definitely went towards the big bright flashy light kind of content.
      I've always made videos that I feel I would watch someone else making, plus as to your point they get watched consistently over time, whereas the bigger shock value type stuff is made to be watched a lot over a day or two and that's that.
