  • Today we're in Burnmouth, and this is the last of an unofficial series I've been doing about harbours down the East Coast from Edinburgh all the way down to Berwick upon Tweed.
Burnmouth is the last of the 4 villages that has one of those sad memorials to the East Coast Fishing Disaster back in 1881.
We'll take a walk down a steep hill from Upper Burnmouth to Lower Burnmouth and see the spectacular views. We'll see the harbour, which is Scotland's first harbour after the English border, lots of lovely cottages and the Fishing Disaster Statue.
    00:00 Welcome from Upper Burnmouth
00:52 Heading down the steep path to Lower Burnmouth
03:27 Exploring Burnmouth Harbour and the East Coast Disaster Memorial
05:05 Cottages under the cliff at Cowdrait
    07:27 Climbing Burnmouth Harbour walls
08:10 More fabulous cottages in a stunning location on the shore
09:23 Final clifftop views of Burnmouth

A coastline full of gems! And the weather? I swear you have a microclimate in your part of the world. How devastating that disaster must have been to these wee communities. Cheers Roger!

Stunning scenery. Did a bus trip from Berwick-upon -Tweed to St.Abbs last year. A beautiful coastline. Had never heard of Burnmouth, until last year. Next time in the area, will check it out! You picked a good day, weather wise!

Oh absolutely! We shall be following in your footsteps to Tenerife at the very end of July. We will be staying in Costa Adeje. Can't wait to hit the Siam Waterpark!

We lived in lower burnmouth for 14yrs , up to 2021, the village has been killed by second homes and holiday lets, no longer a community it's been spoilt by greed for moneytory gain.

Hi Keith. That’s such a shame. It’s such a lovely location I bet living there was very special. 😀
