  • Neck anatomy is a critical factor in determining your results from a chin liposuction or deep neck lift procedure. Some people genetically are predisposed to under chin fat and in this video Dr. Patel discussed the anatomical considerations a surgeon makes in assessing a patient interested in achieving improvement to that area.

Hello Dr. Patel. Thank you for the video. I am a healthy, in-shape 46 year old male that looks young, however, I have a double chin that has bothered me the past few years and I would like to get rid of it. It is hereditary. I was hopeful that chin liposuction would do the job. Last week, I had a virtual consultation with a double board certified Beverly Hills plastic surgeon that specializes in nose and facial plastic surgery only (probably one of your friends in the medical community) and he told me that he would not do chin lipo on my double chin after seeing several photos of me and the one hour virtual consultation. He recommended a Deep Plane Neck Lift to address the double chin and a little lipo on my jowls. I would like to move forward with this surgery but am quite nervous given that it’s a little more involved than chin lipo. It would be performed under a general and approximate two hour surgery. I am aware of the risks; bleeding, possible hematoma, and nerve damage. My biggest concern is the nerve damage. I was told that it could happen but would not be permanent.
I would greatly appreciate any input or comments. I know that as I get older my double chin is only going to get worse. The cost and travel to LA does not bother me it’s the surgery and risks that I am more nervous about.
Any comments I would appreciate. Thank you.

Awesome results! Can you evaluate a patient pretty well virtually or does it need to be in person for best results?

Yes! But usually it’s one or the other for most people. Buccal can be added to either procedure
