@@jamescool7419 The voice actor is "desperately unrehearsed" since he declaimed "lives" as one would say "one lives" and not as "a cat has 9 lives."
If you speak it the latter way, the saying should go: "8 lives for the man and 9 lives for the woman."
It is deeper than I am, for I am a gael of scots (tartan for ervin) and not gael of Eire (Ireland) but perhaps it means that women generally live a little longer than men?
After that, you're on your own, beats me. Direct any other prayer requests to St. Paddy, saying "Erin go bragh."
      All the best!

I'm an Afghan and I heard half of these from my mom. she would even say it in poetry that I still remember. for example, she would tell me your tongue can be your best friend and your worst enemy. Sunshine always follows rain we say There is always light after darkness. Who gossips with you will gossip of you. A kind word never broke anyone's mouth, my mom used to tell me if you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all or It won't kill you to be nice try it.

As a child, love broke my heart so badly, I swore I would never give my heart like that again but I failed. I married for convenience, but my heart broke into a thousand pieces, when she died at the turn of the century. I've been single ever since. Oddly enough, her name was Beth, and her name is the only tattoo I have!

Loves the one that said ‘No matter how many rooms you have in your house, you’re only able to sleep in one bed’. Rings oh so true. Even black hens lay white eggs is another saying that is very good . ……Lastly, I get this feeling that it would have been more fitting to have an Irishman doing the narrating just to give it that little extra bit of genuineness to it.

I love that one. I've never heard it before and this may sound corny, but I always try to say something nice to someone especially if they look a bit down. I don't mean in a false way, in a genuine way. It takes 2 minutes to say something nice and I think in these days of social media, keyboard warriors etc, it's a good way to live. People always remember how you made them feel.

I usually don't hold back my tongue when I'm around a friend, since it shows that I'm just true, not mean. It's better that I'm the one who will remind them on what to change for themselves, than being gossiped around by those other friends of them who, at the same time, smiling in front of them. 🙂
It became my principle in friendship. 🙂
