One of my favourites by my grandpa: " Lord, give me strength to change the things I have to change, give me the patience to face the things I cannot change and the wisdom to seperate both of it."
That's some weird word smithing of the Serenity Prayer, but I like the original version better, "Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.
Give me the patience to face the misspelling of ‘separate’.

@@MatthewC137 For a salesman to earn a living, we have to lie. It's not an honest living. The nature of it is to lie. I sell and install carpet. I'm more of a physical laborer who does the Installation, but I've been a salesman more and more over the years.
A guy I know made $750,000 in one year selling to one big company. I worked there on the floors. I didn't make too much as a laborer and I didn't care for the rigorous security procedures every time I entered the building. I found out the guy we were working for made a huge profit and he wasn't even there working with us.
@@nickangelo116 A salesman doesn't have to lie. That doesn't mean there aren't some that do and are successful. But lying doesn't equal success. Honestly can build long term trust. Lying only gets you one sale at a time. Some salesmen have to deal with the same clients over and over.

That could be bad. And he could be working commission and working out of the office. I don't know what his terms are. Where I work, we have a guy that often goes out to drum up business. So he has different work hours. Its part of his job. I don't know if he gets commission or not, I have no idea what his pay is. I don't care either.
@@cheeseburger12 you're right. We don't technically lie, we just don't reveal the truth. We use deception to make as big of a sale as possible. We evaluate the person and try to make more money depending on their level of understanding. All we do is buy carpet from the mill, mark the price up and sell it to someone. After that, we install it, which is the honest work, and also charge for that accordingly as well.

@@LaHayeSaint still I think proverbs adapts to general experiences we live into and this one isn't one that memorable to raise up. It's just tragic saying "well because you live in England you must adapt yourself to the awful weather by changing clothes" that's a sad proverb I thought.

Some of these quotes give the impression that German men are misogynists. That is not true. They have historically insisted on male dominance, like Japanese men have done, as befits a warrior class, but both German and Japanese women have consistently been a credit to their cultures - beautiful, strong and real.
Honestly, from what I can tell- feminism is just a huge shit test against western culture. Look at how feminists treat Islam. I saw a picture online of some European feminist heads of a country covering themselves from head to toe (except the face) out of respect when meeting in Iran. Respect? For how they treat women? That actually is called "A young tree can be bend more easily", which referes to school systems or other forms of education where the government or whoever wants to indoctrinate and form the young "trees" (young people) , form their caracter, their way of thinking and their behavoir, because its much more easy when they are young children, that can be formed easily, other than adults, which is way more limited ( like an adult tree ). So that saying is actually "A young tree can be bend more easily" and is a critic or a neutral comment to the indoctrination of children and teenagers.

That means you are someone who can be trusted. If we were to use fruit as an analogy the Germans would be a Coconut, hard shell on the outside, soft core on the inside. You need to work your way through it but once you do they soften up on you. Oh, and like Coconuts most Germans are hollow....

I don't know who collected these sayings, but TOO MANY of them are very cynical and negative with regards to women.
I doubt this selection is really representative of German folk wisdom, but, such unmitigated negativity towards women can hardly be called "wisdom". Neither men, nor women are perfect; you can find great qualities, as well as big flaws, in all people, of both genders.

I was excited which sayings I will see in this video, but at the end I was disappointed. What was called "German Wisdom" were mostly phrases of fools and from "regulars' table". I even spotted some German lame jokes there.
