      @@indianmonk3380 there is actually an alternative meaning that was also discussed by Dr Jordan Peterson. The philosophy is that we should be critical of ourselves based on the degree of mistake/sin we have made. Dr Paterson said that this is one of the major reasons people get depressed, because they think of themeselves as unworthy the second they make little mistakes. For example, if you have planned to spend your next day in a productive way but overslept till midday , you should not quit doing the other things because you still have half a day ahead of you. Similarly, you should not tell you children they are bad just because they can’t do something. The bottom line is, when you stumble upon a rock, don’t assume you have to deal with the whole mountain.

      Just coz it is antiquated doesn’t make it any less meaningful or valuable. This was back when men were real men in India who respected , honored and Valued their mothers and wives. Even Indian Gods are named with their significant others’ or their mothers name before their own: Anjaniputra Hanuman, Devaki nandan Krishna or Radhe Shyam, UmaShankar. These real heroes had no false ego and didn’t flinch to honor their women who were the source of their inspiration, moral values , their power/social standing. In Indian belief system the Goddess of Knowledge was the strength/power of Brahma the creator, MahaVishnu’s consort Mahalakshmi, the goddess of fortune is honored by Him with a proud place in his chest and is essential to Him for the world to be maintained , Shiva showed to the world that his better half is wife Shakti (translates to Power or Force) in Ardhanarishvara avatar. Nowadays with women treated like nothing more than sex objects or objects of ridicule by egotistical insecure men who somehow feel superior has resulted in women also returning the favor and showing disrespect. This is a more regressive de-evolution of humanity. The so called antiquated proverb talked of a more progressive and evolved world dynamics! Ironically, you while found the first proverb antiquated you really absorbed the second one talking about men being married to their livelihoods quite well! Even this refers to the time when men were honorable, treated their women with love/respect and did great things w their lives , not just pay bills. Their wives were glad to be their partners in their endeavors. So everything made sense!

      Ultimately, it doesn't matter what society you're from because it's about human nature. It's a little better in Eastern society and may vary from woman to woman, but their nature is still the same, as ours is.

    "A man without woman is half a man" is not a Indian proverb. In India brahmacharya is considered the supreme existence.

    • @SuAstra814
      @SuAstra814 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Brahmacharya is mentioned to have it’s advantages for men (especially spiritual) but is not touted to be supreme existence anywhere. Lord Ram who is said to be Purushottama or the best of all men, was a married man and upheld Dharma when he fought for his wife. It is said that Shiva is but a Shava(corpse) without Shakti (life-force or Parvati)

      @@SuAstra814 In India, religious gurus are supposed to be brahmacharya or atleast have left his wife. Why? Because a married man is useless in the path of god/moksh. A married man can never attain moksha. If this is not supreme existence then what is?

      @@sameer26121980 Not sure where you are getting this info that married men do not attain moksha from but it is far from truth and is very misguided. This is not stated nor claimed in any Hindu Indian scriptures! The way of the bramhachari and gruhasta are different and bharmacharya definitely aides men in spiritual path and gurus have to maintain utmost spiritual discipline. But doesn’t mean only they are eligible for moksha, every human who has cleaned their karmas and have attained enough spiritual evolution are eligible. Sorry to burst your delusional bubble of misinformation but people other than bhrahmacharis who have got Moksha includes :
      1) Women (Shining stars of Bhakti yoga Meerabai, Aandal, Shabari, all the brave queens who fought for their motherland, all the mothers who raised precious progeny , so many others including pure sincere women who serve/perform karmayoga selflessly present day who surrender themselves to Almighty)etc etc.
      2) GruhastA men who are pure or who serve their motherland or dharma or an enlightened guru who follow Bhakti or gnana or karma yoga selflessly. ( all saints, noble kings,people who served God) In fact it is said in Bhagavat Puran that no matter how much one sins or who a person is if he remembers and chants Gods name in his death bed he gets Moksha.
      3) even Animals and birds who served God. Examples: Jatayu, Vanaras etc[by the way..Have you heard of Gajendra Moksham where Lord Vishnu came down to earth to grant Moksha to an elephant?]
      4) Non human entities like Rakshasas, Daanavas , Asuras who were lucky enough to be killed by God Vishnu or Shiva or Durga or Mahakaali. Just the fact that Almighty s weapon touched them is enough for them to get moksha. Like Kamsa, Putana, Keshi, Taraka, Ravan, Vaali, Dhenukasura, Agasura, Shishupal, etc etc

Neither facts nor logic is on your side nor any reasoning. And if only Gurus and saints can attain moksha, why are they even preaching wisdom to general public and why do they not just ask all people to denounce gruhasta? First read all that I wrote and go back and research on those lines, actually read scriptures and listen to true yogis and saints, ask them questions before spreading misinformation or half baked knowledge.
